[Verizon] [rom]jbsourcery v5.4-lte[06/07/13] jb4.2.2 The Final Call

all the kernels i try get so hot with 2.3... ;-(

trying lean now

the stock kernel doesnt get hot.

We will look into it and see if the kernel developer sneed us to cahnge anything in the rom but that hasnt been the histroy but who knows.
thanks.
i am not seeing heat issues on clean install with built in stock kernel.

I sideloaded the apk and it merely updated the app. I haven't bought anything yet but everything seems to work :-)

Thanks for the reply Chief, I was asking if it is OK to wipe the phone even though I can't get into Google wallet to reset it or should I try to fix GW first so that I can reset it in app before I wipe for 2.3?

sounding like you dirty flashed, and you didnt install gapps after the rom flash.
wipe and install both rom and gapps...
most of your problems will go away.

The steamworks stuff will not be ready until the themer updates for 2.3.

Thx
OK, first time thru I wiped Cache, data, dalvik and Rom 2.2.4. Is that a dirty flash? I thought that was a clean install. If not, what else should I have done? No problem, everything ok after reinstalling gapps
Yes, I see now (School of Hard Knocks) that gapps have to be reinstalled each time if I have wiped. Makes sense. All OK now.
OK about Steamworks::) I guess I had the boot anim and the clock because I had dirty flashed BeanPicker over Steamworks.
I really, really appreciate you guys--your dedicated, excellent work and your patience with us fans.

my phone just really likes to give me a hard time and f with me smh smh... i may give trinity a go later since i see a lot of hoopla surrounding it lol

is torch, under the notification toggles, working for anyone?

Yes, still only a third to half the time I hit it. Not sure what is up with that. Not a huge deal as I can quickly hit it repeatedly and get it to go on, but strange that it isn't 100%

really you would be on an older version cause you an see 2-3ml of the screen on the occasion you use the pull down.?

serious question..

I need more people to speak on this. we can hold release until we fix this if its really that big of a deal.

thansk for the input.

i think 99.999% of people couldn't care less about how much of the screen shows with the pulldown, including me. plz don't waste precious development time on it. that's just my opinion. :D

Nice, looks like some of the features I want are now being implemented into this rom now. I prefer the 'text' for both WiFi and signal strength like I have now on AOKP Milestone 5 as well as the custom colors for most everything in the notification bar. Yeah, I'm rolled back to ICS for now. But this looks like this is getting there.

Speaking of 'getting there' I know that Google and Facebook hate each other now, but is there any chance of getting the FB contacts sync going on again on any (or better this) JB rom? That is one of the main reasons I am on AOKP M5 instead of AOKP M6; the feature was removed for the reason (from the reply I got over at rootzwiki) I mentioned above, the hating thing.

Here's some help for you with temp and torch problems. As a previous poster mentioned, use a Trinity [DER KERNEL]. I even think that tdvaughn mentioned in this thread earlier that torch works just fine for those using the aforementioned kernel. You might say, I don't want to pay for the accompanying app. No need to, there a free one over at xda and it might be found elsewhere, cough, cough. TricksterMod.

TIA and good luck

I have spent time upon time on that darn torch. the cm toggle torch works fine.
so im not sure.
with the kernel statements ive looked and dont see anything in the realms that a kernel would change for torch but ill keep at it.
But the cm one works.

it worked fine in all icsourcery builds and the cm works so im not sure why the aokp one is glitchy.

I have logcatted it and dont see anything there. so i just dont know why its glitchy.

face book... I am told its a security issue . That is why we dont support it.
i know people get it done somehow. not my thing so dont know.
But its easy to implement if you can link me to discussions saying its not a security issue and it doesnt break anything id be willing to put it back.

2.3 running smooth for me. Imo, this is the snappiest rom release from sourcery since on jb. And i actually like the zenyth keys with the 3-dot menu button. Not sure how I got it but I'm keeping it this way.

Running lean kernel 4.3.0 also works great. At my usual preferences of oc at 1.3 with interactiveX cpu. Seem to have great battery life so far. Theme engine also working flawlessly and not hijacking other mods from tools.

Please don't be a noob, and clean flash :)

Thanks We are constantly working on improving every aspect of the rom.

I flashed over the stock kernel with Trinity. Does anyone have a copy of the stock kernel just in case Trinity starts running too hot?

Go to settings / JBSourcery tools / Advanced / Kernels...top one reverts you back to stock.
I have been running leankernel overclocked to 1350 with very minor heat issues...back to 1200 without problems. This phone does run hotter than my last one, a galaxy fascinate.

Can you flash a kernel without having to reset Google Wallet first? Sorry to sound like such a worrywart. I bricked one phone and don't want to do it again.

I clean installed 2.3 from 2.2. Mods are copper weather icons, kiwi cobalt theme, JustinBean inverted apps, random boot screen script, modified gps settings.

Couple bugs:
1) Lockscreen: Using eight targets, high center. #7 (in the 5 o'clock position) disappears. It's there when I go to the menu, and then not on the lock screen.

I rebooted, tried to reset the menu, and all the lockscreen icons reset back to their stock icons (I was using custom ones off my SD card). It also lost the lockscreen wallpaper. So now I can either have everything there, with only #7 as the custom icon and the remainder stock, or the others custom with #7 stock. Changing the lockscreen wallpaper tends to revert the icons, and changing the icons tends to eliminate the lockscreen wallpaper.

I had the same issues with 2.2, and just lived without #7. (Actually, in 2.2 I also had #5, 6, and 7 start to open the wrong apps after a while -- Not sure of the details, but I think they all advanced one i.e. I had the calendar in #5 and camera in #6, and moving over to the calendar actually opened the camera, the camera opened #7, #7 wasn't there... Something like that anyway...)

2) Navbar: Set up is as follows, written as "short press/long press:" back/navigation, home/empty (long press kept activating and screwing up the navigation ring -- it was camera, which might be important), recents/messaging, chrome/QR droid private, calendar/recents.

Whenever I press back, it doesn't go back and opens the camera. I double checked in the menu, and it's set correctly. I set it to something else, set it back, and it worked twice before going back to opening the camera.

This one is a bit tough to deal with, I'm going to restore back to 2.2. and wait for 2.4 to try again. Or I'll get flash-itchy and try to reinstall again when I'm bored and have more time ;-)

--------------

Finally, and this obviously isn't related to Sourcery but rather JustinBean... I'm still having the issue with those gapps where the dialer isn't available. Some many moons ago solved the problem by replacing JustinBean's contacts apk with the stock one. In the new Sourcery gapps pack, it looks like names of things may have changed.

Anyone have any idea what needs to be swapped out now? Or maybe a different set of inverted gapps that work a bit better for when I update again?

Thank you for the great desciption of what you are seeing.
it gave me easy ability to test it.
There are so many combinations that things can easily get missed and have problems and the only way we can trace it is with great desciptions like this.

BUT..1) the menu reset will reset everything back to original and it does reset the wallpaper also we will look and see if we can stop resetting the wallscreen wallpaper when resetting the targets on lockscreen. as this should not happen but may be an evil we cant stop.

picture below i was not able to reproduce any of the other stuff you mentioned. i set custom targets set differnt pics (sorry not many options on my sdcard :))
all went to right app. ran 12 apps continued to go to correct app , rebooted all still there and functioning. ran 12 apps again all still functioning.

Im sure you know but just to make sure that you press save before exiiting the target screen.

was not able to reproduce your soft key problems set it up like you described and all functioned as it should.

You said you clean installed so i take it wiped davlik cache, cache and data.

other than that i just don't know.

are you running any mods that we don't supply.

also you mentioned you had seen this before. please send bug reports to our bug reporting tool its in the op or in the info center in he rom. when ou see anything so we can check it out and hopefully fix it before next version.

if there's anything else you can think of that you have done or any type of app that may be affecting this let me know.

will keep testing to see if something pops up as you mentioned but at this time cant reproduce here.

Thanks again for the great detailed description.

edit: Whoops forgot to mention we are working on an inverted ap mod for 2.3 now.
