[Verizon] [rom]jbsourcery v5.4-lte[06/07/13] jb4.2.2 The Final Call

Edit: tried opening it up again and now it works on its own. No reboot or anything. Oh well just glad all is fine. Excellent rom thanks again to team sourcery

I'm wondering if anybody else sees this issue. When I use the new clock app I am getting many crashes. To replicate set a timer and stop that timer (just stop don't delete) then hit the back button or simply navigate to the alarm screen. Either of those should trigger a crash. I have replicated it about 10 times and it happens each time. If I stop the timer then delete it then the crash won't happen. It seems to only be related to a paused/stopped timer.

Well, my Words with Friends problem has been fixed. I flashed a new kernel and reflashed the 4.1.1 radio, and one of them things fixed it.

Holy Smokes! Titanium Backup Pro just made our lives easier!

The 5.7.0 update in Play market allows us to create flashable zips of apps & app DATA!

So now we can boot back into recovery and flash the app/data backup. What a time - saver for crack-flashers :D

I just did a trial run today and noticed it includes system apps. So I'm wondering how much to include especially when there have been significant changes to the rom. After going through that list, I can't decide if it would be just as fast to load tibu from the market and restore as usual? Its almost like we need a check box to disable inclusion of all system apps.

I think creating a update zip forTiBU which is flashable after GAPPs install is much easier than restoring it from the market (been doing this fora while). I then just restore my userapps and data...no system apps of course.

I did a test of the new feature too and agree trying to figure out all the apps you want is a little intimidating. I think Chiefs tutorial hasa good list of the right system data to restore even for Rom changes. See link in posts above. Chief's process is a way to restore system data like call logs and SMS messages.

You can choose to only backup user apps. I personally never touch system apps. Thanks for the heads up on the update!

I did a backup including my apps/data, there were no system apps.

Hmm, I'm not quite sure we're all on the same page here guys. We are talking about the new update.zip feature found in the scenarios list:

So I noticed it said create update.zip from app+data backups. Well, using my autoscheduler, I use the option to backup user apps + system data so I thought that might be why I had all the system data entries when it came time to make the update.zip. So...I switched my autoscheduler to backup user apps only (no system data) but when I tried the update.zip thing again, it still included all the same system data options.

So first, I'm not really sure it's doing what it says because it claims to be using your existing backup to extract the data to make the update.zip. However, when I change it to not include system data, the system data is still there. Now add in the fact that Titanium backups are supposed to overwrite each other so we don't end up with a bunch of stored data over time, wasting storage space on our phones.

In reality though, all that is a moot point because when I make an update.zip, I do in fact want a small amount of system data in it. I.E. the items that Chief mentions to include in his tutorial. So, we need some system data to be available. Now I'm thinking I want an option while making the update.zip to only include green and yellow system items for selection. That would be ideal I think. :D

Ok finally, my apology to Sourcery for derailing a perfectly good rom thread.

I am also talking about the update.zip including apps/data. I ran it last night, I looked thru what it was going to backup to make sure it wasn't getting any system data, and it didn't.

Well that figures, another discrepancy between 2 supposedly like phones that will be difficult to pinpoint. Story of my life. :D

I found out that whatever you have ever backed up on Tibu will show up in this update zip.

I deleted all backups and backed up data only and that was all that was in the update zip. Once i added system data to another backup It then was in the list to appear for a new update.zip file creation.

apepars anything you backup is in this file, unless you manually uncheck it.

Just paired 3.1with the latest Popcorn kernel and it's amazing. First time I've ever used this kernel and I'm impressed. Super snappy and buttery. Hopefully the battery life and temp turns out to be good but we'll see.

What are the best kernels you guys have tried that gave you the best temps? Especially during nav/ GPS use? Every kernel I try gets so hot during GPS use. Or is there another way to control/set your temp?

Kernels will run differently for everybody. I seem to be having excellent results with the trinity that comes with the rom. Super fast, smooth, and my battery lasts a long time.

Yeah I too was using the stock trinity kernel with good results up until yesterday when I got back to back reboots while listening to music. Really annoying so I decided to try something else. Really enjoying this popcorn kernel right now.

When flashing a new kernel what are the steps you are taking? Are you doing any backups, clearing anything, etc...?

Biaviian, here are my steps to flashing a kernel:

ALWAYS, ALWAYS make a nandroid backup.

In recovery, nandroid backup. Then wipe cache and Dalvik. Flash the kernel and reboot system. Have several kernels on hand in case one doesn't play nice with your phone.

Hope this helps :)
