Root [Verizon] Starting Root - Some questions and maybe more soon

just finished setup and it's just starting the actual install. got a lot of stuff to get through lol llooks like it'll take some time :)

Only when restoring System stuff, like contacts and wifi passwords. Normal user apps will not require a reboot.

Well I think I have all my apps backed up, and it looks like i have my data for certain apps transfered just fine, and also my pictures are all in the gallery so that's good. Now all I need is the contacts and the wifi passwords, which were synced with google but how do i retreive them?

The passwords should have automatically been retrieved when you went through the setup. If not, you can try restoring them in titanium backup. If contacts were backed up through google, they should have restored. If not, I unfortunately don't know how to retrieve them from the SD card because I don't have one to figure it out. Mike might be able to help you with that one.

well It's very late to be doing all of this. I don't think that it's going anywhere, if I wait unitl tomorrow to start sorting out all the bugs. Thanks a lot for the help and I guess I /we will see what we can do tomorrow :D

@RoadSuper....I see you and Jhawk have been busy! NICE! You got the new rom flashed eh?
So where are you at now? I see you are offline, but that's fine, and I am at work now and I float off and on here:)

Yep Got it flashed and now just trying to figure everything out. I have already noticed that quite a few times apps have crashed on me very quickly, like chrome and messenging among others.

Also, some apps like Juice defender, where I had purchased the full app on the playstore, I no longer have that version, only the free version? This also happened with swiftkey keyboard.

I have also tried but still cannot restore my contacts or wifi access points, even though I did back them up both to TitaniumBackup and also verified before flashing that they were backed up to google account in settings. Maybe I'm just trying the wrong stuff.

EDIT: Settings is also crashing on me often now...lots of things are freezing up and crashing constantly..?hmm

Did you check the md5 of your download?
And did you wipe properly before the rom flash?

Just make sure the md5 matches what is posted on the download site, then if it does, wipe again (cache, dalvik, system, factory reset.) You can wipe those a couple times, then reflash the rom.

Sign into your google account and let your contacts sync.

Then go into the play store and re download TB. and restore user apps and/or data for user apps.

How do I check the md5 when it's aleready insatlled now?

And I did do all the rests correctly before hand, and my google account was signed into which is why I was wondering why it wouldn't sync. Also I did back up my apps on titanium backup but still didn't have the payed versions of some of them

You still should have the rom zip on your storage correct?

What file browser do you have? The reason I ask this, is because you can use the file browser to check the md5 of the rom.zip.

Navigate to the rom.zip. Then long press on the rom.zip. Depending on what file browser you have, it should give you the option to go to see the properties of it, then check what the md5 is.

I went to the zip and long pressed but nothing happened. And I believe I have the ES or EZ file manager, the one that it prompted me to get when setting up cleanROM

ES File manager...good...that is what I have and tried it too....
So when you long press on it, nothing comes up? It's still zipped up right? You didn't unzip it correct?

I didn't do anything to it, just flashed it and it is still in the same location as it was before, and nope nothing happens on long press

ok....well, that is odd so lets try this.
Download this md5 checker program to your computer.

MD5 Checksum Calculator - CNET Download.com

Then plug your phone into your computer so you can browse to the rom zip via that program.
If you copy/paste the posted md5 (from the website) into one box of the program, then navigate to the rom zip and double click on it for the other box of the program, it will compare both md5's.

Sounds compicated but it's not when you see how it works:)

There's an md5 checker in the play store than he could use to check the md5 as well. I'm on tapatalk right now or else I'd link it in. I think he might already have it though? Just have to navigate to it using that app and it will automatically calculate it.

Ah yes, are you talking about the one developed by ScaryAlien?

I just don't understand why, when he is long pressing on the rom.zip in the file manager, it does not pop up any options?????

At this point, I would wipe again, and reflash.
Take it slow... sign into google and check things out first before downloading TB and restoring user apps/data.
Wipe well too:)

That's my view of the news :p

@jhawk..thanks for helping too...and do you sleep? lol
