Help Version Update?

There's a thread (actually two threads) on this very forum about how to force the update.
Just a word of warning, it may (soft)-fail, leaving your device half updated... Not sure why as of yet.
 
^i saw those, thanks!! i'm not technical enough, and i'm sure to screw it up in the middle. i'll wait it out. at this point, how much longer could it be? ha!

Nobody over at metro seems to be able to help you get the update sooner but a thread exists that details how to "force" the update however it only works if your number is in the current batch to get the update.
 
anybody from the 617, 857, 781 area codes got this yet? Curious as to when we'll see this in boston
 
so how much battery life would i have if i left everything the same, get the update, and i talk, text and use web mostly?
plz help!!!!
 
no way to know man everyone gets mixed results, though it seems to be strength of signal related

Precisely, if your 4G is not consistant your phone will still use up a lot of power trying to establish a 4G conection. If you have a strong and consistant 4G signal the phone uses far less power maintaining the conection. I calculated that I can get 24-36 hours on LTE stanby time at home where I always have 3/4 bars and reliable signal. Likewise I found I only just get 4-8 hours in LTE stanbh time in an area where signal is tertible.
 
Long shot here, but since I've tried every which way to force it and everyone I know with an indulge in area code 857 has gotten it, I'd like to ask something. Everyone who got it successfully, did you happen to still be using the weirdo, Iron Man 2 SD card?

Hey Yawa

im on the Bronx and some folks got it and other don't ..I don't have the iron man SD card but some folks in here did got the update with their own SD card. I believe that samsung and Metro are delaying this update and gathering info as to see if group A(those with the update ) are getting any advantage compare to group B(those of us with no update). Also whats new in the great City Of Boston :D

Battery life has not really improved on mine overall. I was wrong when I said the phone was able to charge faster...must have been imagining things. Overall the update was nothing to get all excited about..which is why I don't understand why everyone is so hellbent on forcing it on their phones. Prepare to be underwhelmed

Woke up at one in the morning to a nice little soft failed update screen. So that's effing awesome, (yes I was rooted btw).

So my question is, should i be patient and wait it out cause we are gonna be able to flash this with a recovery and a rom in a bit, or should I use Odin and return it to a corporate store?

Suggest away...
 
Imho - Unroot and trade it in. No one has been able to update the cdma radio so even with a rom you won't have the complete update

I'm a little confused, when the update fails the only thing that don't update is the build number right? I knw thats the only thing that didn't update on mine. Now I've seen a few posts by k0nane saying not to return the phone and that the new Rom should take care of the part that didn't update, am I getting that all twisted and not reading it right? Cause now after seeing ur post I'm thinking of returning to stock and taking my phone in.
 
I believe ciper spoke too soon, and that k0nane's rom would do the trick here.

Hey guys i been trying to get my visual voicemail to work but it crashes all the time. So today i took it to the MetroPCS and they want to exchanged so i have to go back in 3 days so when i got home. I started to receive some weird text that you can't read so I was like odd. So i check the About Phone" and what do you know this appear

CDMA:R910.0.4M.EE07
LTE: SCH-R910.ED15

So does this mean finally i got the update?

Yes thats part of it, what does ur build number say?
 
well guys got my indulge replace and check the build and it says the new update. The bad part is that now i have to update all my apps,music themes etc etc
 
This update did nothing for my battery life. Infact this update sucks baLLs! Now when ever I travel to an area that doesnt have 4G, I get no internet what so ever. No 1x no nothing. Id rather have 1x than no internet if im not in a 4G area. Im thinking of factory restting my phone and blocking this update because this is totally unacceptable. Theres no way im going to keep my phone like this. How can i reflash the firmware to remove this update? This is total bull shit. I am so pissed! I was out of the 4G area for a few days with no 1x no matter what state I was in!
