Root [Virgin Mobile] [VMOBI][ROM][KERNEL] Victorious ROM + VaeVictus OC kernel (Updated 7-30-13)

Just noticed somewhere along the way i have lost the ability to screenshot? any suggestions? maybe its a timing issue sure would be nice if our favorite rom guy (wink wink) would add a screen shot button to power off options. lol

Gotta be the timing, or something else interfering. I just tested, and it works fine with the new kernel.

Should I have wiped dalvik and cache after flashing test kernal but before rebooting? I forgot and just rebooted. No problems or anything, just wondering. And should I do it now or for it to be helpful did it need to be done before reboot after flashing?

Thanks for asking this question. I was curious about it myself. I finally got around to setting up the WiFi Tethering and it works great. I may never use it, but it's nice to know I can if needed.

I always wipe davlik when flashing anything but that's just me

I do too I just forgot and was wondering if I still should. Meaning could it prevent any particular problems if I do it now even though I already rebooted after flashing.

Is anyone else completely addicted to this thread now? My last phone I got into Roms and kernals way late (first time galaxy indulge) and development had stopped. Konane was deving for it. I feel like I got in early this time and I love how supportive this community is.

Well Jerry I've been running my phone pretty hard and it's been running solid with new kernel and seems much snappier to me.

I had one time where touchscreen stopped responding and I had to pull battery but I think that was more user error than kernel.

Okay, I located the calendar widget "com.sec.widgetapp.SPlannerAppWidget.apk" but can't seem to get it working as a system app (or at all for that matter). I set the permissions and everything. Gtalk is working just fine though.

I fixed my mms issue by flashing the stock vmobile rom (I'm pretty sure my issue was that my phone didn't come with the right rom, as I never had a vmobile splash screen when I got it). Decided to fresh format and repartition my SDcard while I activated, then updated everything.

Rooted then installed Victorious, setup the script for link2sd as mentioned above... got it working but it's time for bed. I'm getting a bit tired and forgot to note the permissions on the script files, can someone check for me (if it matters- perfectionist-), I think the trick to making sure it works with least effort is to setup the script, install link2sd and then reboot without running link2sd. I accidently ran it, and it seems to have broken the external2internal part... even tho I went back and tried to replace the scripts again. Looks like I may be starting this part over tomorrow...lol

The calendar widget I think isn't matching up with the current calendar that is being used by victorious. Thats my theory since the naming convention is different than the default app. Correct me if I'm worng.

I've read that the victory's that MMS doesn't work (partially set up for sprint it seems) can run twrp 2.5 and 2.6. Even after you flash stock and fix your MMS. I had one and exchanged it because there was no fix or stock ROM to flash at that point. But it seems they have a few latent sprint benefits.

For most changes to the kernel, wiping dalvik is not necessary. However, there is no reason not to other than the fact you have to sit through the android is upgrading screen. I think of it this way, having it re-build the dalvik-cache should help to make sure everthing in there is current, so it can only help to do it at any time. ;)

This whole time, in the back of my mind I have been wondering if I might even get away with flashing sprint stuff on this phone... I may one day want to switch service... I may toy with this in the next couple months once my job goes through and I can afford to pay more for phone service again.

My frankenphone may be useful. I almost returned it because of what I read regarding mms before (from a thread on this forum; someone else had gotten a phone that sounds very similar to mine, ie lack of virgin branded splash screen and borked mms out of the box).

I'm glad this community is so awesome. Everything is working perfectly now! :) I just need to figure out how to get my calendar widget back and I will be 150% happy! But not having my widget just means i have to check the app to make sure I don't miss upcoming events at work.... small price to pay for such and awesomely optimized rom.

I was looking through the build.prop and noticed HDMI enabled said true, does anyone know if this phone is capable of HDMI out?

Is the victorious kernel posted the same as vae victus?

Vae zip doesnt seem to want to download.

Will flash victorious & report back.

Edit: kernel_test flashed, running now, seems smooth...smoother than redspot on scrolling browser pages. No jerky motion when first starting to scroll. Thumbs up. And it gave me a nifty, if inaccurate "victorious ROM" splash screen on boot.

Sounds like just the toolchain.

Not having the screen jerk when I first start scrolling is reason enough to switch from Redspot. It was the only place I got UI lag, and now its fixed.

Edit: also no lag in keyboard -at all-, such as when holding down backspace. Was there w redspot.

It's weird... After 2 hours of use I'm getting scroll lag in Nova launcher but nowhere else... Hmm everything else works great! :D
EDIT: fixed itself after 45 minutes of the issue going kn

Just curious, which browser.o Because I didn't get too much jitters in mine (chrome) although there are fewer with this kernel. (I also noticed the no keyboard lag! :))

Stock browser.

Also pages seem to load faster and downloading Antutu from market went @ 2Mbps instead of my usual 300k on this wifi network, though that may be a coincidence.
