Follow the steps in the rooting sticky thread to flash the twrp 2.4.3 tar file.

MG5 Update - Victorious-0.3.1 8-16-13

You MUST be update to the L300VPAMG5 baseband!
(See this thread for instructions on updating)

What's new? Nothing really, this just gets Victorious in sync with the official MG5 update. All apps have been patched and then deodexed, and the kernel is built from the Samsung source with the same mods as the previous kernels.

Download Victorious-0.3.1.zip

Thanks to rbheromax and xInterloperx for all their help getting the MG5 update compatible with rooted phones and Victorious!

When I flashed this the phone locks up on the screen lock.

I tried doing the update to the new base band and it updated successfully, but I lost a bunch of apps and all my settings. So I restored to the backup I made just before updating. When I restored it asked if I wanted to do the update again. Annoyed by the message and having read that saying yes would cause the update to fail but the message to go away I said yes.

It tried to do the update but nothing happened except the phone rebooted. Never got a success message or a failure message. Now my base band says L300VPAMG5. Does that mean it did update? It says I am running vaevictus 0.3.1 and victorious 0.2.2. Thanks.

The victory update booted... still have the vmobile animation and then only half the screen shows the bubbles and its showing it twice next to each other. Something is bugged out.

After booting I have had 2 lockups already and all my google apps have started crashing.

Everytime I boot up it says its optimizing 21 apps. Superuser always has to update binary, and seems successful, but gapps crash before or while it updates.

Edit: Fixed :)

Once you've done the update AT ALL... you cannot go back to the old BASEBAND. Some files can be restores, but the firmware files that make up the baseband are not backed up and restored by our recovery.

So the second update you tried didnt do anything, your baseband was already updated from when you successfully updated before you restored your backup.

You were supposed to backup your apps with titanium backup.

Sorry, I added the wrong bootanimation file, but you can fix that by just copying over the appropriate qmg files in /system/media if it bothers you.

If google apps are crashing, try opening TitaniumBackup and see if it offers to restore your Android ID. If it doesn't automatically, try under TitaniumBackup's settings >> Manage Android ID >> restore from backup.

I fixed my issues with the update. I restored my backup, unlinked all link2sd links and cleared all the 2nd partition stuff.... then reapplied victorious. All is well now aside from the boot animation and I can live with that.

Thanks for posting with how you fixed it. 9 out of 10 I would have run into the same problem.

A quick question: where are the link2sd scripts located and do they remain after I uninstall it? I plan on flashing the update and new Victorious release next weekend.

I have issues update went fine when I instal victorious after reboot it freezes and crashes. Wipe cache and all. Any ideas?

yeah i have the update i just reflashed it and it was fine until i installed link2sd it ask pick file system and it installed scripts on its own told me to reboot then frooze and rebooted now its back up but internal to external swap is gone . i got a logcat but its huge. how can i fix internal to external the easy way ?

what i had to do was install link2sd on stock before i did Victorious update. any other way it would crash. seems ok so far.

I'm probably going to remove the links2sd script for the next update. Too many people don't understand how it works, which ends up messing up their installations. I tried to make things easier, sorry for the issues.

i shut it down to make backup of it working rebooted and it crashed again . screen is turning off and not coming back on. i can either have internaltoexternal or links2sd cant get them both to work together anymore.

screen is turning off and not coming back on.

I ran into this too. When I first flashed the update I forgot to remove links and delete Link2SD. Once I did that and flashed the ROM, it started fine, but then locked up after it started and then I got the black screen. I could hear the feedback sound when touching the soft buttons. Had to pull battery to restart.

I always have issues with links 2sd it works fine at first linking the apps, then out of nowhere, the links all mess up and none of the apps that were previously linked no longer work. I'm considering just starting all over wiping data.

To be perfectly honest, I don't know why people are having issues with Links2Sd. All I did was flash the ROM, I did nothing special with Links2Sd other than already having it installed.

If you follow the instructions, you will be doing what I did, and I have had zero issues.

For simplicity, delete the /system/etc/install-recovery.sh and /system/etc/init.d/11extsd2internalsd and see if you still have issues.
