Aha, you don't uninstall Links2Sd before flashing, just undo links (or redo all links after flashing). When you run Links2Sd the first time, it creates it's own mount scripts, which will overwrite or conflict with my mount scripts. Just copy the two files mentioned previously and then reboot, install-recovery.sh and 11extsd2internalsd.

right now im on stock with update backup i made install links with no mounted apps then boot recovery and install victorious?

My trick with installing link2sd is not to create the script. Just run it after install to give it superuser, and don't create the script. Then reboot. Let the victorious script work.

Edit: If you do create the script you could always just flash victorious again.

It wont allow me to. any way to force it?

installed link2sd on stock deleted the install-recovery script then installed Victorious. worked great so far so good. man that was tough for some reason i had no troubles before.

Yeah, I was trying to make it easy for people to use Links2Sd together with the swapped ext2int script, but it looks like it would probably be best to have those scripts in a seperate zip with it's own dedicated thread.

FYI- When you install Links2Sd, it attempts to create mount scripts based on the currently available mount details. If you allow it to, it will overwrite my scripts, and this is most likely what is causing most people's issues.

So the easiest way to fix most people's issues is to install Links2Sd before flashing Victorious. Allow it to create mount scripts, then boot into recovery and flash Victorious. My updater-script will overwrite the scripts involved while installing Victorious. Once installed and booted up, you should be able to just open Links2Sd and start linking files as you like (remember, no moving apps2sd, our phone doesn't support that, only linking).

I seem to have hit a wall.

I tried the fix for the update (backing, up, restoring to stock, booting and updating...) and up until that point it worked fine. Thought I did notice I lost my launcher and a bunch of apps. So after it does the OTA update, I shut it down, rebooted to recovery, and installed the MC1 to MC5 update. That installs and I reboot to do the re-updating step, but things are haywire, which is when I realized I forgot to unlink everything in link2SD. Okay, no problem. I reboot to recovery and restore the backup I made just before starting the process. That goes fine and I go in and unlink everything. In settings I notice It says I have the newest baseband (L300VPAMG5), but I am not sure what that means really so, I start the process over again.

I reboot to recovery, backup, restore to rooted stock, and reboot (ignoring fix root). I go into settings and update everything, but it says everything is up to date. So I reboot to recovery, install the the MC1 to MC5 update (but not the kernel). It installs, i wipe cahes and fix root and reboot. It reboots and everything works fine, except no victorious. So I reboot to recovery and install victorious 0.3.1, wipe caches and reboot and it hangs at the victorious screen.

I restore back to my original backup and go through the whole thing again, and it hangs at the victorious screen.

Would like to get everything up to date, but I am stuck. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

If you are having trouble with Victorious-0.3.1, and if you have the time, please restore your stock backup and flash the update-no-props zip, then install Victorious by it's components. Please take the time to flash them in order, and attempt to boot up each time. Hopefully we can narrow down your issue.

  1. Deodexed System Apps and Framework
  2. Media, Fonts, & Extra Apps (fixed) (gallery4.3, wifi tether, and Playstation)
  3. Superuser, Busybox, & Libs (video player libs)
  4. Scripts & Tweaks (fixed) (sdcard swap, links2sd, and build.prop tweaks)
  5. VaeVictus-MG5-OC-Rv3 Kernel
If you have errors flashing any of these, please let me know, it will most likely just be an updater-script issue I can fix quickly.

Flash the first one, then try to boot into the system. If everything works, flash the second one and repeat, continuing flashing and rebooting into the system to check if everything is working. Let us know if any of these components replicates the issues you are having.

Thanks for helping to narrow this issue down!

I'm not seeing the bootanimation2 file. It should be located in the same folder as bootanimation correct?

Edit: Nevermind, I had to restore to stock because of freezing issues on this rom. Is there anyway to get the extsd2internalsd to work with a stock kernel/rom? I tried the app in the market, but I couldn't get it to work.

The issue with link2SD brought something to mind that I meant to ask: If we have sdcardswap, which "swaps" the internal SD card with the external card, why is there a need for link2sd?

Sorry, I will edit the OP. What I meant was remove the mount scripts, sorry for the confusion.

It's all good. I just restored one of my backups and things work fine. Funny thing, I was having trouble updating the Superuser binary with this back up, and now it updates just fine. It must have been an issue with Superuser and not the ROM.

Flashing the Scripts-Tweaks zip from #4 in the post directly above yours should give you the swap and links2sd 2nd partition functions. Install Links2Sd, and allow it to create it's mount scripts. Do not reboot, instead boot into recovery and flash the Scripts-Tweaks zip, then reboot. Now when you open Links2Sd it should be ready to link away (so long as your sdcard is partitioned appropriately).

The apk and most of it's files are still stored in the data partition, swapping the sdcards only allows the large secondary files some apps use to be stored on the larger sdcard. Links2Sd will actually move the apk and it's associated files to the 2nd partition instead of leaving them in the data partition. It's not perfect, but it does allow for a lot more storage for app junkies!

Will do and report back later today

The back up I made was one that has the broken MMS. How can I get the ability to download MMS? I've been looking through this thread, but it's just too freakin' long at this point :o

Thanks!!! Sorry for being a dork.

A version with the SD swap stripped out would be delightful.

Emulators are my vice, not 700+ meg apps. Would save TONS of time on troubleshooting installs/updates too.

Ok I am in the process of trying to track down where the problem is, but I have run into a wall before starting on the victorious components.

I restored to my backup prioir to trying to do the update. But the backup was no longer the same. Many apps were not being properly loaded and it looks like the batch unlink I did in link2SD didn't really unlink them so they no longer were showing up in Link2SD or in the drawer or anywhere except for in the application manager. Since I had made backups of them all I uninstalled them from the application manager. Made sure root (using Koush's superuser) and Busybox were all installed. At this point everything was working. I was running the 0.3.1 Kernel and the 0.2.2-r1 rom. Link2SD was installed, but nothing was linked. Busybox, Smanager, Root Uninstaller, Helium, No Frills CPU and Treve's wifi tether were all working and had acces to root. After a bit I got the message that the update was available, so I booted to recovery:

Backed up using TWRP
Restored to g60's stock restore and swiped to fix root.
After it booted I got the message that the system update was available. After updating profile and PRL and checking for a firmware update, I hit the install button on that.
It rebooted to recovery. I installed update_SPH-L300_MC1_to_MG5-no-props, wiped caches, swiped to fix root and rebooted.
It boots up fine, BUT i get a message to install SuperSU (Chainfire's) and a message to install Superuser (Koush's) when I try to install the binary for Koush's, it says there is an error and that it can not install.

That is where it is at right now. I haven't gotten a success message for the update yet (15 minutes or so in). I seem to remember steps for uninstalling SuperSU and installing superuser but I can't find them.

Currently it says I am running L300VPAMG5 baseband 3.0.31-1308964 se.infa@SEP-109 #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jul 12 14:04:31 KST 2013 under kernel version and JZ054K.L300VPAMG5 under build number.

Will try and figure out the superuser issue to see if that is preventing something before I go forward with the Victorious pieces.

Edit: Ok I figured out how to uninstall SuperSU and switch to Koush's Superuser. That seems to be working. I am going to wait now for a bit to see if I get an update successful message.

Edit 2: I never did get a successful update message, so I started installing one at a time. All installed successfully. It now boots and says the correct vaevictus kernel and victorious rom numbers.

However. The internal2external script is not working. The internal storage is reporting as 1.73GB and my external as 25.99. So I am not sure the tweaks portion took. I will back up where I am now and try from that step on.

Edit 3: The scripts and tweaks zip fails to install with the message set_perm_recursive() expects 4 args got 286352

OK, got things squared away, but now it won't update the Superuser binary again.

OK, got things squared away, but now it won't update the Superuser binary again.

While searching for a way to manually install the Superuser binary, I came across a Superuser website and found the binary file as well as the zip file for install. So I figured I would just try installing the latest version and hopefully that will take care of the problem. The only thing I didn't notice was it was the SU by DDChains. Phone started fine and went through the same Superuser's binary is out of date so I clicked on install, and then a window popped up asking for me to grant permission to Superuser. I clicked yes and low and behold, the original Superuser binary updated.

I snooped around to try to find a way to uninstall the SU by DDChains and found the Disable button and clicked disable. Now Superuser seems to be working just fine. My questions are, could TWPR be messing with the phones root when is tells you that root has been lost, after flashing a kernal, would you like to fix and I select yes? And 2, is it OK to leave the SU by DDChains installed but disabled?

Ok. Starting with g60's stock rooted and updated. I tried doing the component installs again. I made sure nothing was linked with link2sd. I reformatted my external drive. Started link2sd, allowed it to make its boot scripts. I then deleted recovery-sh in system/etc. No init.d folder. Booted to recovery and installed the deodexed portion with no problem. Media Fonts& Extra apps failed to install. Can't read the error as it is off the screen. something system(0)? Went ahead and installed the rest, but Tweaks also failed to install. So I am running 0.3.1, but without whatever is in those components (the media and tweaks sections.

Can someone please post the mount script to install a custom recovery, i just flashed stock mg5 recovery and now i need the mount script to flash twrp, i dont have a pc or id use odin like i did the first time, im going to use terminal emulator
