Root [Virgin Mobile] [VMOBI][ROM][KERNEL] Victorious ROM + VaeVictus OC kernel (Updated 7-30-13)

I did, it goes through everything fine at first. The screen where it says it's updating the apps, and then updating android, reboots then went to the half/half screen and stuck there.

Try rom toolbox in playstore. It has a buildprop editor. Twrp, with power off hold volume up and power. But rom toolbox also has a rebooter in it that lets you reboot into recovery from the app. I use it all the time. You can even add rebooter as a widget. When you first launch rom toolbox it will ask you what recovery you have, obviously choose TWRP. :D

Managed to change the nobootanimation value to one, but it still plays the rather loud and annoying "warning! this phone will self destruct in 5 seconds." sound on boot and shutdown, there a way to disable or remove that?

Also getting a "Unfortunately Syscope has stopped working." error several times after startup

EDIT: TrevEmod crashes after following instructions to the "
  1. Press the large white WiFi symbol to start tethering, it will turn yellow once tethering is active, (note- you will have to grant SuperUser rights the first time) " part
EDIT II : Now time for more Insufficient storage available when there's 300mb left.

Boot sound is a little trickier. You can go into system/media and change the .ogg file for start sound, or delete it.

Hey guys, new-ish (VM) Victory user here. I've got my phone rooted and flashed with the latest Victorious ROM and for the most part everything seems to work great. Except I've run into a couple issues I can't figure out (and they're probably related). The first is that I can't open MMS pictures. They appear on the thread view but tapping on them either does nothing or gives an error, depending on which program I try to open with (QuickPic or FX Image Viewer). The error from FX Image Viewer is "Unable to load image; the system denied access to read file."

The second issue is that in the camera app, tapping the button in the lower left corner to view the stored pictures does nothing.

My theory was that these issues were occurring because I uninstalled the stock Gallery app, so I figured installing another Gallery app (QuickPic) should take care them. But no. They persist.

If I have to reflash Victorious I will but I'm hoping there's an easier way. Any suggestions?

Here is the stock gallery app. //
And here is the odex file. //

Edit: here is the stock deodexed gallery app in case anyone else needs it. https://app.box.com/s/724igqg7874b6mkxxun9

Is there some sort of magic needed to install this? When I click on the .apk file it says "This is a system application. Do you still want to replace it?" If I say yes it asks which installer to use (Package installer or Google Settings) and goes through all the motions of installing, then just says "Application not installed".

Where would the installer be looking to determine that it's already installed? Is it possible it didn't uninstall completely?

Thanks for the help BTW.

Try just placing the apk file in system/app. Let it overwrite the existing ones. Use a root file explorer.
All system apps are in system/app.

The existing ones are not there, which is weird because the installer thinks they are. Anyway I tried copying the .apk to /system/app and no go. Also tried installing the zip through TWRP and still no go. Something is clearly borked because now when I try to exit the camera app the phone locks up.

I'm just going to reflash the ROM and NOT screw with the gallery app this time.

Reflashed the ROM and the Gallery/Camera are working correctly again. All appears to be well now. :)

Note to self: Freeze apps first to make sure you can live without them.

I should have given you the deodexed one. That probably would have worked better. Brain misfire.

Thanks for this ROM and root. I just got a Victory from VM on Friday. Did the root in another thread (used TWRP 2.5.0), updated the baseband and then installed this rom. All went smooth except the TrevE tether app crashed the phone requiring a battery pull to recover. I uninstalled the app, downloaded the latest .apk (3.2-beta2-041713 **synergized**), and now that works.

What does not work, or rather what I need to understand better, is notifications.

When I get a voicemail I see it on the "swipe" screen, but if I swipe but do NOT check voice mail, the notification vanishes. Is there a way to change the behavior so that a voicemail notification remains until I actually check voice mail?

Also is there a way to put the .apk for visual voicemail back onto the phone?

I really like this ROM. Thanks for all the work and support.

Here is the visual voicemail app. https://app.box.com/s/lggrypz5u8f602r1c4hm just copy to system/app or data/app it works in both.

Does any one know where in the phone to find the victorious rom logo? I can't find init.logo.rle anywhere.

well um...u gotta learn it someday, so why not today?

of course this coming from the guy behind the overclocking of the vaevictus kernel! Downloaded dsixda's kitchen today, guess I'll start there. Never used it before, but "gotta learn someday".

lol I had the OC done back in Feb (couldnt get my boot.img to boot because I packed it wrong for months derp)
perhaps you can help me with the new kernel because I have yet to even start on it

I "downloaded" kitchen, haven't installed or tried to run it yet. Lol. Basically still script kiddie, meaning I know how to use other people's stuff, where to put it, modify it, and what it does, just haven't attempted to create anything of my own yet.

Okay looks like my baseband is L300VPAMA8 so how exactly do I go about the updates all I think I have done is Root my phone getting tired of the popup wanting me to update that will not install.

Got it all installed and working great but how do I install themes? I find them all over Google but how do I know which ones are compatible and then how to install them

As far as I know, the only theme compatible with Victorious is my AOSP Theme. There could be others that I'm not aware of. Some Xtheme Engine themes for TouchWiz partially work.
