Root [Virgin Mobile] [VMOBI][ROM][KERNEL] Victorious ROM + VaeVictus OC kernel (Updated 7-30-13)

got it installed and working.
Tried wifi tether as per instructions, but when I push the big wifi symbol it goes yellow for a couple of seconds then disappears, and locks up the phone - ie can't get out of the black screen and it doesn't do anything.

Make sure your WiFi is off.

(I downloaded onto my computer, then transferred to phone using usb cable. Seems easier than trying to locate and download from phone browser. coulda emailed the net address to myself I guess, instead of typing it into phone browser and hoping it would work..)

Then I just used file mnger on phone to locate and click on the file. It wouldn't replace old version, so I deleted old version first. Now good!
 
Ok so I've been using this rom for a while now and i like it a lot. Today when i was trying to take pic i noticed i had the "unable to load image" error and the screen was black. I I'm running this off of the stock rom from moonknightus on the other post. The camera works perfect before installing this rom, i noticed after i install this it has 2 camera apps and i always delete the aosp looking one , I've tried hard reset .wiping everything , anyone have an idea how i would be able to get this to work with the camera working?? thanks
 
When you use your camera, set it to save to your internal storage. Use a root browser, your pics will be in dcim of the extsd. Cut them to your dcim folder in sdcard0 and they should work. Same with downloading from your browser
 
These instructions near the end say to flash Victorious 0.2.1

Does that mean the procedure assumes I haven't already flashed the victorious custom rom to my phone? If that's the case, do I have to revert back to stock before goiung through the steps to prepare the 2nd partition?

My other q is, when backing up the ext SD card, can I just copy all contents using a usb link and windows explorer, then copy all those files and directories back to the new partition on the phone?

I don't have Links2Sd installed at all right now:
  1. BACKUP YOUR SDCARD TO YOUR PC, IT WILL BE WIPED CLEAN!
  2. Place your sdcard in your phone
  3. Boot into recovery (these instruction use TWRP)
  4. Select Advanced, then select Partition SD Card
  5. Set the size you want for your storage space in kb (1024mb = 1gb), I recommend at least 2gb, I personally used 10gb on a 32gb class 10 card
  6. Choose EXT4
  7. Don't worry if it shows an error, it most likely was successful, but TWRP can't mount the 2nd partition so it thinks it errored
  8. Reboot
  9. Install and run Links2Sd, and do let it create mount scripts
  10. Using a root file manager, delete /system/etc/install-recovery.sh and everyfile inside /system/etc/init.d (you may not have an init.d or any files inside of it)
  11. Boot into recovery and flash Victorious-0.2.1 (wipe cache & dalvik)
  12. Reboot
  13. Open Links2Sd, and if it asks to re-create mount scripts say no
  14. Begin linking your apps over to your sdcard, DO NOT LINK /system APPS!
  15. Enjoy your new space
I have Links2Sd installed with or without apps already linked.
  1. BACKUP YOUR SDCARD TO YOUR PC, IT WILL BE WIPED CLEAN!
  2. If you have already been using Links2Sd, undo all the linked apps, putting them back into normal storage, you may have to uninstall a few if you don't have the space available, just back them up with Titanium Backup then uninstall them, you will restore them at the end
  3. Follow steps 2-7 above to partition your sdcard if you haven't already
  4. Install Victorious-0.2.1 and reboot
  5. Open Links2Sd, and if it asks you to re-create mount scripts say no
  6. Redo your links
  7. Restore anything you had to uninstall, and redo it's link
  8. Enjoy your new space!

Install link2sd from market. It will use new partition to store apps when you link them. That's all that goes on new partition. Put all the stuff from your card back where it was. And only install the newest victorious, 0.3.1. Repartition your card then install link2sd, run it once let it create mounts then just reflash 0.3.1. Then open link2sd again and begin LINKING apps.

I have link2sd, when I open it it lists all the apps that can be moved to SD card. That means it thinks they are on the internal storage.
When I look in settings/storage, it reports that the internal storage is 14.83G with 1G used by apps.
It reports that the SD card is 183 G with 200M free, just like before I did the root and victorious install.
OK so in settings/storage it sees the ext SD as internal and vice versa, meaing they have been swapped as expected. But it looks like apps have not been moved from the real internal storage (which it now thinks is the ext SD).
But link2SD seems to see the apps as being on internal, since it indicates they can be mvoed to SD. Perhaps this is because it has root access so can "see through" the ruse that ext SD is internal storage?

When I actually try to move an app to sd card in link2SD, it says "App2SD is not supported by your device. Because your device has a primary external storage wich is emulated from the internal storage. You can lik the app in order to move its files to your SD card." Note the 1st and 2nd periods in the paragraph, but I'm guessing the second one is supposed to be a comma? So not sure what it is saying re linking or how to do that.

Also when I click on one of the movable apps in link2SD, at bottom of page it says

Make sureyou have two partitions on your SD card and both are primary. <<
I can move apps or back up ext SD card I think, alrhough it's confusing coz hard to be sure I'm moving the actual SC card and not the emulated one.
Then make the partition as per instructions above. Seems a bit tricky though and I'm fearful of screwing things up.

So that means I already should have victorious flashed? (which I do). Then after letting link2SD creat mounts, I should reflash victorious over the existing install?

And in response to your other post, the external to internal memory swap does not touch the part that stores apps. Some apps like games that are 1.5 gigabytes have huge additional files. The app itself is only about 15 megabytes the rest is additional file. The external to internal swap allows these files to go on your external card which now thinks is internal. To put the apps themselves on your memory card you need link2sd. And you don't try to move the apps with link to SD you link them. So in the app select link not move. Also you have to make sure to make a second ext4 partition on your SD card for link2sd before you do any linking.
Sorry I'm at work and it's hard to type this out. But yes you do have to reflash victorious after installing links to SD because it creates the mount scripts that are specific for our phone. If you correctly formatted your card to a second ext 4 partition then you should be able to use link2sd to link your apps. Remember don't try to move them just link them. Selecting link will move the app to your SD card and create a symbolic link.

P.s. I know it's a lot of reading, but if you read this entire thread from beginning to end it will answer a lot of your questions. :cool:
 
OK thiknk I have enough to take the plunge/grasp the nettle/dive in the deep end etc. Just one thing, to back up ext SD all I do is just copy and paste all the files and directories right? No hidden files or odd protocols links etc that are also needed to be saved?

Backup your whole sdcard. Well the things you want to keep anyways. I just saved my pics. I formatted my card w/ the 2nd ext4 partition (4gb) and started linking. Make sure you have a good sdcard. Like class 10. It will be read and written to a lot with apps on it. It tends to wear out lesser sdcards.
And when I was saying try to read this whole thread I mean not just my post... The whole thread. I know its a lot but it will answer a lot more questions than I can. There's a lot at work in this ROM. And Jerryscript isn't around anymore. So read all of his writings. He put a lot into this.

I don't know what class SD it is but it's sandisk so hopefully good quality and will last even if not so speedy - I think it would be a "normal" sandisk 16G so not sure how that compares with class 10 speed.

Checked the conquest forum and the OP has been deleted so no download as far as I could see.

Did the procedure and working fine, not sure if I've cured the internal memory low problem since I can't seem to look at the size and free space of the internal memory anymore, but fine so far. will know after I have added a whole Sh-L of more apps.
I tried a different thing, used GParted from a LInux PC - it can format Ext4 but also it can shrink a partition without removing data, so I did that first to my SD card then partitioned the new space with Ext4. That way all the old data stays on the same shrunk partition.
Ive done this successfully a few times with harddrives but got some errors when in windows which scandisk corrected, so I ran scandisk on the modified SD before putting it back in the phone and it did take a long time to run and a short time to run a second time so it found some issues I guess.
I even tried defragging the SD fat partition but that got stuck. Probably not nec with an SD disk anyway I suppose.
 
Good afternoon gentlemen, is there anyway I can get the apk for S Voice. I realized with victorious 0.3 that it has been removed from the build
 
I am running victorious 0.3.1. everything working great except for camera. I get a camera failed error everytime. The gallery works fine, but the camera wont work. Even when I restored my backup from TWRP, same result. If you can fix my camera, I will stay on this rom for life.LOL Thanks in advance!
