I got the update, and I'm in the midwest (Michigan to be exact). In the past they've just rolled out in random batches. There was always speculation as to if they were geographically based or not, and the consensus was always that they were not.

So based on experience, how long does VZW take to roll out an update once they start? I've only been with VZW since the GNex came out...

Ditto. Just did, actually. It broke root, but it took me all of five minutes to download the Wugfresh toolkit to re-root it (it would have taken me 15 to re-find the instructions to re-root with adb). Seems to act the same way as IMM30B (or whatever the last full image leak was that I flashed several weeks ago. Time will tell if there is a material difference between the two.

Well, so far I am seeing better signal so that is a plus. I won't be able to really test for other bugs until tomorrow though.

Others will also attest that it's a random process, independent of your location.

Announcing that you got it and that it is has made your phone better/worse/same is useful information for the community. A parade of "not yet" is just noise, IMO.

So you had the 4.0.4 radios on 4.0.2 and simply updating to the full 4.0.4 gave you a 12 dBm improvement?! Wow. Makes me want to nandroid and flash the stock 4.0.4 to compare, but I really can't explain how this could be unless Verizon stuck in something outside of AOSP and the radios. :confused:
 
Yeah, this broke root for me too. Took me a while to get everything back to normal, my first time using Titanium backup.
 
File a complaint with BBB on Verizon Gnex They ate the gnex and monthly charges for the time i had problem i held my ground and documented the calls to customer service and corporate customer service and the local corporate store and the resolution/lies they told me in the process they lost I encourage you to do the same
 
Flashing the rom does break root however you can regain root simply and easily.by downloading and installing this superuser.apk

Just reboot into clockwork recovery and install the file and root will be restored. You will probably have to flash clockwork recovery in rom manager again as well since it gets overwritten by the stock recovery.

At least that worked for me 3 weeks ago. ...

I think the longest was about a week from the start of the roll out to the end. But that was back on the Droid... they've been a bit quicker since then. Usually a few days tops.

I find, if you either just do something else to take your mind off it and eventually get surprised with an update notification, or just flash the update yourself, you'll stress less over it. It's annoying waiting for an update.

Yeah i read in the verizon forums that the update is being rolled out over 10 days based on serial numbers, so probably just randomly. So it could theoretically be over a week before some of us actually see the update.

I don't see why they don't just let us initiate the update manually if we so chose, or even update via wifi or a .zip download.

Seems pretty dumb to me if that's true. If it is, I hope earlier serial numbers get priority...

No I was on the IMM30B leak, but loaded the IMM76K radios. It may have been a bad install for the radios the first time around or it could be something that was tweaked with the software. All I know is that the reception is better after installing the IMM76K that DL posted. Now, obviously it doesn't mean that my speeds are faster or that my call quality is any better, just better dBm. I'm hoping (haven't tested yet) that I get 4G in areas I wasn't and don't lose signal completely in areas that I was.
 
They are probably rolling this out over a long period of time to keep their CSR's from getting slammed with calls and complaints/questions all at once. This way the calls come in over a longer more controlled period of time. It's the only reason I can figure they just don't release this to everyone at the same time or at least let you download it when you want. Not sure which forum I was on but someone said Verizon CSR told them that it would take three to four weeks for everyone to get it. They did mention after 10 days from the start of the release that you could begin pulling the OTA yourself. Who knows if he knew what he was talking about, but this does seen to be a slow release.
 
Hey OTD, are your signal bars gray all the time now? I flashed the DL ROM and that's what I'm getting. No more blue bars.

I think that happened to me when I flashed the update a few weeks ago. If I recall, I either rebooted or swapped airplane mode and it hasn't been a problem since.
