What changes do YOU see with Froyo 2.2?

Anyone notice any decrease in battery life?
On the contrary, My battery life has improved dramatically. I'm guessing it lasts almost 2x as long.

I was getting the 'plug me in' message after 5-6 hours on 2.1. I'm at 7 hours today with 64% remaining on Froyo.

im still messing with it, but lastnight sitting idol it dropped 3% compared to the normal 5-7%..... wifi stays on when i'm home
but during the day today at work with 3g on it seems to drop faster then before.... but all day and at 66% before i stuck it on the charger
(i charge it to 100% before i go to bed every night)

Updated some more information. Hopefully i'll get my brothers to update the official Froyo version and see if there is any differences. Would be real easy for me to compare since I have the "leaked" ota update on my phone and my brothers phone isn't updated just yet.

i think the updated wimax radio has helped...ever since i updated to froyo i have been able to keep 4g on without it raping my battery

Battery issues here too.

I originally fixed it just by changing Facebook sync from every 3 hours to once a day. Battery life drastically changed for the good.

Now with the update it blows.

The camcorder is MUCH improved. Still not as good as the Iphone, but very good nonethe less. Still some motion blur in low light situations, but far less and at least useable video in those circumstances and not complete trash. I don't really care about 720 etc. I just want the videos to show well and now they do. May not be as good as some from the CM6 video hack, but they are very good.

What are the benefits of H.264 over MPEG4?

None. In fact, H.264 is not supported in any version of Windows except 7. It will play in earlier versions of Windows with Quicktime, but it is still a little choppy.

It is Apple's HD codec, and it really pisses me off that Canon used it for the 5D MKII! Couldn't watch my nice HD movie shots without converting it to another format first.

I noticed that it reset all of my contacts primary number to the first listed, which means I need to go back and switch the primary from home numbers back to mobile. Not that big of a deal, just took me a second to figure out why I was calling people at home instead of their cell when typing their name in the dialer

Seems to me that it should pop up a list of numbers to select from if the contact has more than one.

This is not a change but more of a bug that I have to report. I was on the phone last night and a mms came in. I kept getting a annoying ring in my ear over and over again. It went off probably 20 times. I couldn't stop it or dismiss the notification. I got a message saying invalid network error. Not sure if that's exactly what it said but it was very annoying. The person in the line couldnt hear it. Anybody else?

WTF are you talking about? Apple does not own h.264 and its a very well known and supported video codec. Ever hear of BluRay? NetFlix?

The h.264 videos from EVO play just fine under WinXP. Just have to install the codec or a player that includes it. Win7 is the first version that includes it with the OS install is all, its newer than the 10 year old WinXP.

h.264 is a vast improvement in compression technology over MPEG4. Much better images at much lower bitrates.

All I wanted out of the update was JIT. That being said, my "Let's Golf" app runs like a champ! It used to lag and stutter when setting up shots. Now... FLAWLESS. 2.2 was worth it just for that IMO.

3. Linpack 38 avg vs 8 on 2.1
4. 30 fps still a problem but oh well I guess

I will try a few benchmarks with 2.1, then post after 2.2 update:

Quadrant Standard Edition: = 550

Linpack: Mflops = 6.878, Time= .79, Norm. Res: = 3.36

Speed Pi: 5 million digits: Leibniz = 3,752 milliseconds, Sharp = 12,420 milliseconds

An3Dbench:
Fillrate ST/MT = 4.91/9.89 MP/sec
High object count = 15.58 fps
Multiple lights = 28.47 fps
High polygon count = 21.95 fps
Keyframe animation = 28.56 fps.
Game level = 23.75

FPS2D = avg. 28 fps, stdev = 4.90

** the An3Dbench is pretty interesting to watch it work.

tested running non-rooted:
Firmware version = 2.1-update1
Software number = 1.47.651.1
Build number = 1.47.651.1 CL195459 release-keys

Hey man what settings do you have you're phone in because that is great battery and im only getting about 4 hours of use time.

shot that theory in the dark. I have no idea why you only get 4 hours then.

I think that network change that earlymon posted helped...even though my up time and awake time were never the same...right now I am at 13h 15m 23s since unplugged

Edit: I didnt charge it over night so that 13 hours is with absolutely no use from 12am to 10:30am

Same here.

I've also hard reset my phone before and after the update. I'm seeing +17 hours with basic usage

I hope a hard reset is not required even after the "Official" OTA release tomorrow to get the same or better battery life.

Just so that I'm fully understanding a hard reset, I will bascially have to reinstall everything that doesn't get put back on outside of Sprint bloatware and also reconfigure all my settings to the third party apps. AND reapply my custom ringtones to contacts, among other things?

I didnt see this posted yet, if it was sorry. I have been using the installed mail client from day one for my hotmail account. Up until now, i actually had to go online to delete emails, because the evo just wouldnt. U could delete them; but as soon as the mail synced again, there were the emails again. Now, everything works great. So for me, 2.2 is a great success.

Haven't seen anyone else mention it, but market now allows you to "Allow automatic updating" so you don't have to manually install updates. SO. MUCH. WIN.

Love it.

Any one having issues with the youtube app? It will play a video, but when I try to play another it will give me a "sorry this video cannot be played".
