What is the coolest thing you do with your DX?

I host wifi for my friends who hate anything else but apple. lol They still thinks it sucks when they are getting their interwebs from me. I like to turn it off quite a bit though to them.

I put my new Droid X in it's car mount for the first time. I looked at the available functions and decided to hit the "Voice Search" button. I said the first thing that came to my mind..."where da white women at". It transcribed it perfectly and showed a list of YouTube videos from the movie 'Blazing Saddles'. I clicked on one and watched the skit where Cleavon Little says those famous words while listening to the audio through my car speakers.

How freakin' cool is that?! I know many will think this is simple stuff, but I got a kick out of it!

Use it to control my entire house via the home automation system. Can arm/disarm security alarm, turn lights on/off, make a movie/TV show start playing on a TV (great for when my parents watch the kids), monitor what people are watching on TV (great for checking on babysitters), view CCTV cameras, etc, etc, etc.

Sounds like you have one hell of a wired house. Are you a SUPER gadget freak? :D

How does your phone control all that stuff? App?

I use the Verizon FIOS Mobile Remote app. That way I can fight back when my wife has the remote and won't hand it over.

Actually this is my first smart phone, so I cannot be that much of a gadget geek. ;)

The phone simply communicates with the main automation system which runs on a computer in my house. All the devices that are controlled are connected to the computer. Most are through RS-232 (serial) connections, but a view are IP connections.

It's a fun hobby - and that is really what it is. I've been slowly building the system over a period of about 5 years. It didn't happen in one shot. My latest addition - a weather station. If I had a sprinkler system (which I hope to add eventually), then I could control it to make sure the grass wasn't watered if it was raining or windy, or rained x amount since the last watering. But it is neat to have real time weather (rain, wind, etc).

Let's see there have been so many!!! I am 59 and the only real addiction I ever had was smoking and I quit that several years ago. Now I have an addiction to my DX. It is so customizable that I do one thing and then say wait I would rather do it this way, then say wait how about this way. Spending hours upon hours with this thing. Feel like I should be on that reality TV show Intervention. Loving every minute of it. I also have the Incredible and wife has the Ally. Android sure does lot more than my Blackberry did.

Very nice hobby although I must confess I was picturing your home as one of those high tech homes that a level cocaine dealer would have (well according to TV) with every thing automated like in star trek. "Computer Lights on" "computer where is wife" I guess having it all controlled with an Android phone is close enough. It does work with Google voice commands right? :D

I've been using PSX4Droid recently. I'm loving it. Already beat the first disk of FF7, now I got distracted with legend of the Dragoon. So many good RPG's on the PS1. If they could get it to work with HDMI out then I would never stop using it. I hear the next project is an N64 emulator... talk about Super Smash or Goldeneye. YES!

Well there are so many cool things I do with the X, I don't know where to start. But has anybody noticed how accurate Barcode Scanner is with the X? Bar codes that were unreadable before (with my Droid) seems to work with the X.

Goldeneye would be sweet. Just think how awesome it would be if we could use a ps3 controller via bluetooth instead of a wii remote so we had all the buttons! With that, all these emulators, and HDMI I think I might just never put my phone down (not that I do much now as it is)!!

Brilliant!

I also came from the BB Storm 1 and there is no comparison. No more memory issues and this phone's power and capabilities are astounding.

does psx4droid run isos or do u have to convert them?

and does it handle save files well?

PSX4Droid uses formats BIN,ISO,IMG,PBP,Z,ZNX, and Eboot (compressed too).

It's actually really impressive. It does Save states and also regular saves. I haven't had any problems with it yet. I really love playing all these games again.

Also, if they made PS3 remotes compatible too, I would go crazy. There is nothing better than getting drunk and playing N64. Those are some projects I would support now.
