What phone do you X users plan on upgrading too?

i can tell you that it won't be a samsung device. With that said i will probably wait on the next great Moto device...unless something awesome and the next Nexus device is with Big Red. I really like the leaked rumors so far on the droid 3 but man that line doesn't seem to be getting a lot of love.....

edit* before anyone starts with the bootloader crap on moto devices..i could care less about that really and i'm perfectly fine with the rooting and rom'ing we can do now on the DX

also Congrats JB in AZ on the Mod status.

For me, depends on which carrier I'm on.

If its still Verizon? Droid X2, maybe Galaxy S2, (forgot how much I relied on led notification without even realizing it) Bionic, Targa.

AT&T? Maybe Galaxy S 2, Atrix, whatever LG dual core comes to AT&T.

The only problem with that is that devs will shy away from those phones, and what are you going to do then with no root or roms for those phones? :D

the saving grace i think will be P3Droid...with his connections at Moto...i say there is no way he jumps ship...he will always go for the flagship Moto device...

valid point BO but i used my DX for at least six months before rooting. I think i would be ok if it really came down to it without root.

I'm in the same boat with a lot of "X" owners. We aren't eligible to upgrade until 3/12. However, even if I was able to upgrade now, I wouldn't. There just isn't anything that cranks my handle available now. Also, I do know that my next phone will be 4G capable. That and the fact that LTE won't be available here in Hawaii until late 2011. (Acording to Verizon) Actually LTE is available at the Honolulu International Airport, but I'm about 15-17 miles away so I'm not even in the extended 4G area.

I really like my Droid X. (A wise man told me, "Don't love anything that can't love you back")

So by 3/12 there should be some awesome LTE phone available from Verizon and that's the phone I'll be carrying.... Faster than a speeding bullit, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound..... well, maybe not that last one. I'm looking forward to it though....

See all you Droid X launch day buyers there....

I think the reason you have so few responses thus far is because most of us DX users don't see a compelling reason to switch yet. I know I don't. :)

I concur all of the 4G phones suck. If my X dies I'll opt for the X2 until something decent arrives, the problem is until voice over LTE arrives all 4G phones will continue to be a kludge.

I eligible for a discount on 12/29/2011. So no new phone for me until then at least. I just got my DX about a month ago, so its still new to me lol.

I've tried almost all the GB ROMs out for the DX now, and I keep flashing back to the stock rooted/deodex one lol. As long as it gets rooted and can be themed, I'm good.:D

Same here. I tried the TB and ended up giving it to my wife and going back to a DX. When my time comes around (4/12 now), the Bionic (or whatever other name it has by then) should be around along with other decent 4G choices. Samsung has never impressed me with anything they make, but I like HTC phones in general and can't rule one out. In the meantime I'll watch the world turn 'round and see what's out there before I give my final, best answer.

BTW: Am I the only one who get's so put out by the tethering flame-outs that I avoid any threads focused on tethering like the plague?

honestly ever since my first phone i've had nothing but awesome luck with Motorola devices...i would imagine ill end up on whatever happens to be Moto's flagship device when March of next year rolls around...unless there is something else that is absolutely "must have"

I loved my Razr and V60, but this is due to some input from a moto rep on another forum towards me, which I (rightly or not) took personally

the locked bootloader didn't help, so I'd have to say their equipment is fantastic, but the software and people need work

again, that's just my personal opinion

ahhh...the V60...LOVED that phone...also had a V600 and a V620 that were awesome for me as well...

i was also heading toward your way of thinking...but GingerBlur brought me completely back into the Moto camp....

GingerBlur is nice, and they did well to take a bunch of cues from existing apps in the Market to make their product nicer, but if CM7 is anything like what I've heard, it makes me hate a locked bootloader even more

and, maybe not the direction that the OP would have taken this thread, but if moto/vzw would allow me to unlock my bootloader for a fee or some other negotiated terms, I'd stay with them for a long while...

im not eligible until may 2012, but i would like to get the newest nexus phone that is out around that time. if there is no new nexus out, then hopefully a quad core phone will be out. i would jump all over that

I wasn't due until July but I had a problem with my X, they sent me a replacement and the one they sent me was worse (constant rebooting) so I complained enough and they let me upgrade early. As crazy as it sounds I went with the Inc 2. Yeah I know, no 4G but here is how I feel right now, 4G is still in it's infancy. I've bought the latest and greatest phones several times but the first few always have some bugs, it's a trade off, you get the new technology before everyone but it's never perfect. Also I went with how the phone felt. The Inc2 felt good, I used it in the store for a while and I liked it a lot so I have one on the way.

The Inc2 is a great phone. I love it and Sense UI. If it was 4G, I would have bought it this week when I went into Verizon to check out the Charge (yuk).

I have to admit, I'm liking the Droid 3 with the 4" qHD display. I do miss my keyboard that I had on the 755p, even though it was tiny - although that's about the ONLY thing I miss from it. The much bigger keyboard on the droid sliders look nice, and with the large display on the 3 I think I could make the jump (I've looked at other sliders with the 3.7" - too small for me now that I've been spoiled with the huge screen of the X).

Also I believe the D3 is supposed to be dual core, don't know about 4G but it won't be out for a while so we'll see what is finally produced. I don't have an issue with the locked bootloader, it hasn't prevented me from gaining all the functionality I desire on my current phone, and I like the quality and solid feel from Motorola phones.

We'll see what happens...:D

My upgrade is this summer, and I have no desire to upgrade. There is nothing out there that differentiates itself enough for me to even consider it right now.

When my upgrade finally comes June 2012, I'm going off the grid with two Campbell soup cans and a very long string.

That's probably what my NE2 will be worth by that time.
