What Tasker profiles is everyone using?? (This thread is NOT for requesting help with profiles)

I want to use 3 Context EVENTS and I do know you can only use 2. Sooooo, I figured maybe a VARIABLE would do the trick but I have tried and know nothing of what I am doing as far as creating and using Variables.

Here is what I am trying to do:

When I plug in my Bionic into power with no Wifi Connection, it starts my GPS, CAR DOCK APP & TRAPSTER (Police Radar). Works Great in my car and stays off when being charged in my home (Wifi connected) and at work (Wifi connected).

That worked fine until I just purchased my LapDock which also charges my phone when attached. I don't want those things starting up when in the LapDock (which happens when I use it when there is no connected Wifi).

Any other solutions would be appreciated.

EDIT: NEVERMIND...I found a solution. I didn't have Bluetooth when I originally set it up to work. I DO have Bluetooth in my car now that connects when I get in my car. So, using that, I didn't need 3 EVENT contexts to fix my problem. :)

Okay guys and gals I need some help here. I've got a task set up so that when I'm connected to the Bluetooth in my car an auto-reply will be sent. The task currently has an exception to prevent spamming people when I receive more then 1 text from the same person.

I did this doing an If %LASTSMS !~ %SMSRF. That works but now I'd also like to prevent it from auto-responding to a specific number (Twitter) particularly because it's tweeted my auto-response now a few times! lol

Does anyone have any advise on how I can make it work with both exceptions? Thanks in advance!

You might use the connected to the car bluetooth set a new variable to "car". Use the variable state of "car" to set off various profiles, like the auto respond and read SMS, and auto respond and read Twitter, with appropriate exceptions.

Ya that's pretty much what I have. But what I'm trying to figure out is how do I set two variables to the auto responder. Basically what I want to happen is while my "Car" profile is active if I receive a text it would first check if its from a specific phone number if it isn't then it should check if the last text I received was from the same person.

If either of those criteria is met then I want it to do nothing. If they aren't then it should sent my auto response.

How about setting up your autoresponse profile something like this:

Context 1: variable Where value "car"
Context 2: SMS from (your twitter number), inverted

Task: read SMS and autorespond, with your If statement as described above

Or:
Context 1: connected to car bluetooth
Context 2: SMS from (your twitter number), inverted

Task: read SMS and autorespond, with your If statement as described above

I've been drinking so I don't want to post tonight, but PM me tomorrow and remind me and I'll post the solution I use.

I have mine so that I filter specific numbers (Facebook for me) and if I get multiple texts from the same person it will only auto reply once every 15 minutes to the same person.

Thanks for the PM, I had forgot!

This requires setting up multiple profiles and tasks:

Profile 1: driving text
Received text, type any, leave the rest blank

Task - 1. send SMS; number = "%SMSRF" ; if "%SMSRF !~ %LSMSRF/######" (###### is the number you receive twitter text from)
2. Variable set - Name %LSMSRF To %SMSRF

That profile is what sends out the text when you receive one. You can add as many ###### as you want and those numbers will never receive the auto reply, just separate the numbers with a /

This profile also makes it so that the same number will not receive multiple replies if they text you multiple messages.

Profile 2 (optional): Text Variable
Variable set %LSMSRF, value leave blank
Task 1. Wait 15 min
2. Variable clear %LSMSRF

This profile makes it so that a number will receive an auto reply if it has been more than 15 minutes since the last time they received one

Add the following tasks to your car profile:
1. Profile Status - Driving Text set On
2. Profile Status - Text Variable set on

Then add the same, but off to your exit tasks.

I upgraded my Samsung galaxy s2 to ICS 4.0.3 last night. Today I find tasker behaving oddly. It will not pick up Gmail Notification , however , SMS and missed call notifications are picked up by tasker.

Has anyone experiences this problem after ICS upgrade?

I've been on ICS for a couple months and haven't noticed any problems with Tasker. I do not use Tasker with any Gmail notifications though.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm surprised that tasker is working for SMS and Missed call but not for Gmail. I did check the variable values set for Gmail and that looks good. Anyways , I will experiment a bit with tasker and see if I can get it working.

since my update to ICS, my profile for tasker will not work,
my profile tells me through voice command that my battery is fully charged, since the update it keeps showing this message:
http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg37/harrissabir/2012-04-18_14-53-59.png
i use Ivona text to speech, as google text to speech under this command says unsupported tts - dont know why..?

DOES NOT WORK SINCE UPDATE, and alot of time tasker for me will crash (stop working)

Finally got GMAIL notification to work but with slight modification.
The notification works only if there is no Title value specified in the Context Option for Gmail Missed Notification Setting . The moment I set a title value (i.e New Email or any other text ) , the reminder does not work for Gmail.

Anyone else have issues where the phone beeps when a new task is started? Some of mine do it, others don't.

Hi there, new user to tasker here just looking for any advice possible.

I'm using an HP Touchpad running CM9 nightlies, though this would also be useful for when I'm using the app on my SGS II.

I use the Facebook Messenger app quite heavily and and also have a Bluetooth keyboard hooked up to the Touchpad. What I find quite frustrating is the inability of using the 'Enter' key to send a message. You have to hit 'Send' on the touchscreen which gets quite cumbersome when using the keyboard.

What I'm looking for is a way to set it up so:

If Facebook Messenger app is running in the foreground.
And
If 'Enter' is selected on either a soft, or Bluetooth keyboard.
Then
The appropriate part of the screen is 'Tapped', where the Send Button is.

I had a dig around Tasker but couldn't find anything to solve the issue. Is this something that is possible?

Unfortunately Tasker can not interact with any active app, like a keyboard. It can't tap the screen or choose a specific button displayed on screen.

I so wish it could choose a specific button displayed on screen....I feel like that is the biggest thing people want but don't have in Tasker.

hey guys quick question here with a profile I'm trying to concoct...its probably really stupid an simple..but im fried with this app lol

I'm trying to create a task that comes up with a notification and alarm when my wifi connection is disconnected...as I keep forgetting to turn it off when I leave home...and I know I can do the GPS connection/log thing...but that was always a little hit and miss near mine..

its probably simple...but hell...I'm stupid lol (I'm not but this app is so indepth I'm lost at times)

Why don't you just auto switch WiFi off when it disconnects from your router out of range?

is that part of tasker or is it a seperate app? as I really don't want to use another app if I can get tasker to do it...I already use tasker for a multitude of things as it anyway.

Hi everyone,

I'd love some help figuring out if punching in and out from work can be automated with Tasker. I'm a Tasker amateur... hopefully one of you pros is up to the challenge.

Here's my punch in procedure:

1) Dial my company's punch clock phone number.
2) Wait approximately five seconds for pick up/first prompt.
3) Enter my four digit employee code and then press #.
4) Wait approx. two seconds.
5) Press 1 and then #.
6) Wait approx. two seconds.
7) Hang up.

Can Tasker simplify the process?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, its part of tasker. The profile will be
STATE, WiFi near. Task, turn WiFi off. I then use cells at a large radius, to turn WiFi back on, so by the time I am home it will auto connect again. I used to use cells for both, but as you found it would turn on/off regulary if I had just walked a short way from house.

I have it set up like this:

Profile Closetowork

Contexts:
State Wifi Connected SSID (work Wifi) Inverted
Position Net based, not GPS

Task:
Wifi toggle

Profile WorkWifi:

Context:
Wifi near (SSID Work Wifi)

Task WifiWork:
Wifi Set On
PopUp: Work!

Exit Task LeavingWorkWifi:
Wait 20 Sec
Wifi Set Off
PopUp: Finally going home!
