i joined because this is my First HTC Phone with Android OS and ideal to know website with people that know the in's and outs of the software, plus i found lots amazing apps that helped me already :)

I joined because I had decided I was going to get my first Android device and wanted to know as much as I possibly could. For me there's no better source of information than a forum.

When I first had my BB awhile ago I found CrackBerry. I liked the community and how they helped each other out all the time. Eventually I learned enough about the phone to contribute. So when I switch to Android I came here to help where I could and to find help when I needed it. Plus, the people are awesome.

Actually, I see a few usernames that I recognize from CB on AF. I wonder if they're the same people... ;)

I picked "Offering advice/support" as the reason for JOINING. But that's not what brought me here. Root was brand new for the Droid and I was lurking here for quite awhile in order to "take the info and run."

I had never actually been active in any forum before this one. I lurked as always, got the info I needed and I kept checking back to see what was new. Eventually more and more people had questions and there weren't that many people to answer all of the questions, so I joined to offer some help (just felt obligated for some strange reason :)). One year later...I still love this highly addictive place!

I joined to download the user's guide for the Incredible when it got leaked. I had been lurking for a while before that, but it was what got me to sign up. :D

Yeah, that's what I'm looking for; that very first reason, because we come back for other reasons.. usually because it's just a nice place to find things out, see familiar members, etc ("community").

I wonder what the single largest day was for new members and/or traffic to the site. I think that the HTC Incredible brought a LOT of new members on board.

I remember when the EVO was made official these forums were down like a sad clown.

I've always liked being on forums dedicated to whatever mobile device I'm using at the time. Heck, I still lurk around poweredbydanger & crackberry even though I no longer use Sidekicks or Blackberries. It helps learn the ins & outs of my device that I would not have discovered myself. I found that out @ poweredbydanger. I had used a Sidekick 3 for about a year before I found that community, & it wasn't until I joined pbd that I found out about a ton of hidden features of that phone. Ah, memories :).

x2 could not have said it better myself

I remember joining when I first won the Samsung Behold II in the Behold II giveaway. A few others who had won their phones were posting in the Behold II forum and I was curious about an ETA for when I would receive mine. After I got my phone I just stayed in tuned with AF because they have a great community. I'm a forum junkie anyway, I have over 10,000+ posts on one football message board and moderate another one so it was easy for me to appreciate what you guys have going on over here.

That is it

Ha HA I even found my very 1st post

Had an iPhone 3Gs and a friend got a Droid Incredible. I was getting sick of Apples BS, and came here looking to research my next phone, really wanted to give Android a spin.

It was nice to see a group of people who had as much distaste for apple as I do

I've been interested in open source for a long time now.

Seeing someone actually use it to pioneer a business model is fascinating.

Even if I don't see eye to eye with other members all the time.. or I just flat out suck at explaining/expressing idea's.

I kinda feel more accepted here than on a lot of other forums... hell these forums probably accept me more than my own family :p

Its also nice to stay up date and see other people's views/opinions on android.

With all that said, looks like I won't be getting an android device for at least another two years.. x.x

As the Hero was my first smart phone, I wanted to learn as much about it as I could. I lurked around a few forums for a while, and decided this was the nicest, most fun and most helpful group of folks I found.

I was waiting my thirty plus days for my ordered Incredible... losing my mind. A few days into the wait and having read everything written about the phone I stumbled in the front door.. sat down in a thread of other crazies waiting for their incredible.. and had a blast. I haven't found a good excuse to leave yet.. still having fun.

I joined because I just got my first Android phone and I want to learn about it as much as I can. In return I will give advice and support in the future.

I planned to buy an Android before XMas and this was top on Google
6 days to get one!!!! (think I'll extend my deadline to new year :p)
