Help Whats your beef with the X?

My only thing is, I cannot figure out how to UN sync my facebook contacts from my phone. I don't actually like half of them enough to call them, only enough to have them on facebook! Any help?

OP, you should have charged it to full before playing with it. These batteries just have enough charge to turn on the phone when they are in the box and that's it. It took mine a while to charge yesterday to get up to full charge, and I proceeded to abuse it for hours in a low signal area with no issues.

Mine doesn't run hot, or at least not through the bodyglove case! :P

Mine froze once; battery pull and it was fine.

I don't know where you got that from but mine lasted at least 3-4 hours with some juice still left in it. It came out of the box around 70%

1. Can't get quick desk to work because long hold search is automatically voice search no choice involved and same with double tap home, what happened to android=choice?
2. Insane amount of bloatware there is almsot double the amount of shit constantly running in the background none of which i can stop (they come back) compared to my incredible.
3. battery life is worse really disappointing, I had a seidio battery but that's no excuse when this thing was supposed to blow it out of the water.
4. Constant nagging that I have a mobile connection available.
5. No option to pick the name to use when combining contact, wth?

I am coming from the Storm 1 and then 2 which were my first smart phones and I was not using them on any enterprise at work. I'm sorry but parts of this will sound like a comparison between the 2.

I'm really happy with the X thus far but there are couple things I find frustrating. Please feel free to tell me if I am complaining about some functionality that is actually there that I am just missing... that way we can all learn!

Email: With neither K9 Mail nor the Google universal mail can I highlight multiple emails to delete at once. On the BB you touch the first one and then the last one in the string you want to delete and it highlights them all for you. Having to check all of them individually is a PITA and only having the option to select them all for deletion does not resolve this for me.

Also, unless I am missing something, I can't seem to only delete the emails from the phone without deleting them from my actual email account as well. The BB gave you the option to either delete on the device only or both.

One more thing on email is that with the BB I didn't have to go in and keep refreshing the email inboxes to see the latest emails. I see there is a 15 minute refresh feature and I have that set. Does K9 auto refresh or do I have to set it to do that?

Accessories: I got the two piece carbon fiber case but I am a little worried that it won't fit in the media/charging cradle I ordered from VZW.. it's a PITA to take apart so I might have to get a silicon case which will hopefully work. I picked up two droids and the other one has the silicone case so I will be able to tell right away when the cradles arrive today.

Battery: It's about what I expected from a device with such a large screen and processor. VZW installed a task killer and told me to use it often or the battery would get zapped pretty quickly.

UI: All I can say is wow! This thing is about twice as fast as the Storm 2 in pretty much every aspect. I do have a gripe with the back button though. With the BB every time you hit the back button it would only take you back one level. With the X it tends to take you all the way back to the home screen at times (depending on the application) which necessitates having to reopen the app and start from scratch. Organizing my apps has proven to be much more time consuming on the X than the S2 because creating custom folders takes longer... and then you have 3 screens to decide where to put them vs. only 2 on the S2. I downloaded the Launcher Pro Beta which seems to have cleaned up all the crapola the original UI contained allowing me to customize these now blank screens to my liking. I was also relieved to see this app lets you view the screens in landscape.

OS: I have to say I am disappointed with the fact that we are stuck with the OS that came on the phone. I thought that was the whole point of Android.. to be open to outside development and etc. Hell, I would upgrade the BB OS with the latest and greatest OS and hybrid OS's built by 3rd party developers (hackers) quite often. I want to delete a lot of these crap Apps that came on the device but I can't see how to do that.

Typing: I admit that I really really liked the click feature on the S2 and could fly while typing on it but there is no replacement for displacement in the case of the X. The sheer size of the keyboard gives it a distinct advantage and it works great to boot. I do miss multi touch though and was disappointed to see the OS does not have that capability (yet).

Native Browser: Hands down the webkit browser destroys the S2 native and Opera Mini browsers although BB will have webkit on their new OS out later this summer.

Screen: It depends. The S2 was much crisper and brighter but the size of the X just makes the user experience much more enjoyable. I'm still going to gripe about the picture on the X though... it seems like it needs to be crisper/brighter (especially in sunlight) and yes I did adjust the brightness up.

Sound: The speaker volume is awful compared the S2... not even close. We need louder speakers on this thing. The sound quality on the device is not as clear as it was on the S2 either which is disappointing.

Clock: Big ass screen and a tiny ass clock (when in clock mode of course) ... what's up with that?

Got my X yesterday morning...tweaked it for all of battery-saving settings I used on my Eris. Finally, the charge was down to 30% from all of my playing with it, so I decided to charge it up.

No real problems or complaints...except one tiny one: where's the battery charging LED indicator (i.e., red when charging, green when done)? Does this phone not have this?

I know the original Droid didn't have this, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Sound.... or lack thereof... thats my only problem, i cant hear the thing ring on my hip and the speaker is faceing outwards... other then that i love the phone.. im not as tecnical as most on here so i downloaded the same apps i had on my droid, but i loved that speaker on the droid, i could work on my truck or in the shop listening to music and this thing is so quite that i dont know when its ringing or playing a song unless its on vibrate or im in the quiteness of my house... i was walking threw the store after i got it and it was ringing and i had no idea... i guess i need to look up some aftermarket ringtones, as i personaly liked the "growl" on the droid and the DX but i cant hear it now... i did see some saying that the speaker is loud enough to turn down, i winder if its a problem with select phones and not all of them???? anyone got any good ringtone apps or places to get them

I love the screen of course, but dislike the very small volume button and power button. I've gotten around the power button by installing LockEnabler (button locks and turns off screen) And to make up for some of the annoying things Moto did I installed LauncherPro. I'm not sure why they removed the standard corporate email client. The new one seems harder to configure, I can't seem to find the settings which tells it how much of each message to download, and hate that they dropped the useful color coding on the combined inbox to tell you which account the email was sent to (part of stock eclair).

Anyone notice they also removed the DirectDial shortcuts from stock? Now you have to use their widget which is only available if you're NOT using a custom home like LauncherPro.

Also, I assume it's a bug, but I got a call while setting up an email account and couldn't answer the call because the keyboard was hiding the answer/ignore buttons.

(Why use LauncherPro? I now have 5 rows of icons on that huge screen 5x4 real estate and some scrollable widgets.)

I do like that I can wake the screen with the home button, just wish it was bigger. Anyone notice that the bedside dock is extremely difficult to pull the phone out of and insert it? I'm afraid I'm going to damage the ports.

But overall I'm definitely keeping the phone. I love the screen, very easy on the eyes and love the great 3g data coverage. Friend was taking a trip yesterday with his 3g ipad and had no 3g for two hours of interstate driving. Very lame... LOL!

I think what it does is put a lightning bolt thing in the middle of the battery indicator in the upper right corner of the status(?) bar, where the time and *3G* are displayed, when it's being charged. Then, when it's on the charger, it will tell you the percentage charged on the unlock screen.

...I almost went with the original Droid over the Eris...

I'm just a little spoiled by my Eris :D ...although this was not really a feature of old-style (non-smart) phones. I just really liked seeing the LED indicator that told me when the phone was charging and when it turned green when fully-charged.

I can cope without it. :)

My gripe is .... <drum roll please> BATTERY LIFE!! Anyone else getting really crappy battery life? I'm not even getting 12 hours out of this thing!!

Unplugged at 6:30am it's just after 4pm and it's down to 20%!! Granted I have been playing with it quite a bit today -- but still!! Anyone else experiencing this?

And what's with the battery going down in 10% increments anyway? I want percent by percent DANG IT!!

Look for the power control widget and put on your homescreen. Make sure that the autosync button is on (circling arrows).

I enjoyed surepress a lot too. The X does have multi touch.

I'm coming from just the storm 1 (never thought it was worth the jump to 2).

just factory reset my x and boxed it up.

;(

I soooo wanted to love the phone. I was in like with it, but no love.

I just stopped by the VZW store to play around with the display model since my online order was never shipped. I'm going to cancel my order and stick with the Incredible. I HATED the physical buttons, no text wrap around when booming in the browser, and the biggest thing was how quiet the speaker/ringtones were. I love the Inc, but hate the battery life. I guess I'm willing to deal with it.

What did you not love about the X?

Short @ss USB cord, wtf were they thinking? Newayz, my old BB storm charger works just fine, I'm using that one.

the plug may fit in fine, the problem would arise if the voltage supplied is too much or too little. its always wise to check the output on the "PLUG"

If I am not mistaken, the micro USB connectors conform to the general USB standard which specifies a voltage and amperage...

Quoted from wikipedia Universal Serial Bus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The USB 1.x and 2.0 specifications provide a 5 V supply on a single wire from which connected USB devices may draw power. The specification provides for no more than 5.25 V and no less than 4.75 V (5 V

I only have one problem with my Droid X and that is the freezing I get when using Google Maps Navigation. The whole phone doesn't freeze, just Google Maps.

I downloaded the latest Google Maps Navigation from the Market, also downloaded both Slacker and Pandora. I was driving in my car somewhere while streaming music and navigating. Music stopped randomly within 15 minutes, could change applications by pressing the home keys, etc. but Maps was frozen. Had to Force Close Maps/Navigation it then restart music player then restart Maps/Navigation twice.

Don't know what's up with that.

Go into settings, then sync, then uncheck facebook.

Coming from the incredible...

MOTO blur was a huge dissapointment.

Motorola really knows how to crap up a nice piece of hardware.
