Root Whats Your Favorite ROM?

News Flash: JerryScript has just come out with an improved version of the BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme. I have ceased testing on previous version. I will download and install the new version and start the testing process all over again. This new version has everything working but the bluetooth. WOW! I can't wait. More tomorrow,If JerryScript hasn't allready made another improved version by then(way to go JerryScript) I like it!!

Yeah I flashed the 7/21 version and wow. It's quick and snappy. USB mass storage works now. I don't use bluetooth but heard that's not working yet. I've installed it this afternoon and reinstalled all my apps. Played games and it runs flawlessly. FM radio app is included but I just uninstalled it as our phone doesn't support it anyways. With the help of Juice defender beta, battery drain is highly improved. I Highly recommend at least trying this rom. This is definately my rom of choice now!! Again, Thank you jerry and blarfie and others for this!!

I had a little trouble getting USB mass storage to work until JerryScript told me how to go into settings/applications/development/and toggle USB Debugging on and off(I would never have figured that out on my own). It does work, alriiiight no more pulling the SD card out to look at or add files, COOL!

what kernel are you guys running? i only see kernels 35 41 and 49, but i see some people are running 53? i had to return the phone i bought yesterday (used) to the store, it wouldnt take a charge. so they gave me a replacement and i did all the goodies all ready. love the gingerbread waaaaaay better than the froyo. im flashing current release of IHO as of 7-21-11 and the link says its kernel 49. will post later with updates. im gonna run it for a while before i try the green machine theme

I downloaded the most recent version yesterday and my "V" is showing it to be kernel 49

cool. same one i have. it seems like aosp ran a lil smoother for me (reall only noticed in games otherwise everything else seems to run better in IHO), but im gonna give it a full battery use and charge and use again before i give an opion. so far all the animations look great, and playing with some settings and running minimal appliations. tweaking speeds and benchmarking as we speak

I'm having some technical difficulties with this build(07222011) Don't know If is me(I hate being a "Nuub" sometimes)?Make sure you make a backup in recovery before installing any ROM. It's a good thing I had one to fallback on. Like I said I Don't know if it was me or not. It's was probably something I did,or didn't do right

I did a thorough and complete wipe in recovery. Then installed ROM,gapps, and Green machine theme. Rebooted. Green Machine theme kept forceclosing. Went back into recovery. Complete wipe. Installed ROM,and Gapps.Rebooted. Set up google account, and WiFi,downloaded titanium backup from the market. Put phone down while browsing on computer. Look at phone and boot animation is running. Didn't stop. Pulled battery.Went to recovery and wiped and restored a previous ROM. EDIT: I think I'll download everything again and try with fresh ROM,gapps, and theme

Same thing happened to me. I installed the 7/22 rom and when it booted it stayed that the second 'lg' screen. Pulled battery, rebooted then stuck on boot animation screen for almost 20 minutes. Pulled battery, booted into recovery, and wiped and formated everything 3 times. I read in another forum someone does that each time they flash. Ever since then, it's been running like a dream!!!

Thanks yogi-4 I was just fixen to flash a fresh set of downloads. That info will come in handy. I did a complete wipe 3 times, waiting a couple of minutes in between wipes. It worked.

IHO 7222011 worked fine first install for me green machine theme as well. im liking it very much. still hoaving a few problems with a couple apps, but i think its just because i moved thm to sd card. pandora i left on my phone and it crashes every once in a while, but no biggie. camera side button doesnt take pictures for me, but it will open it up. seems pretty responsive. nice animations, i like the screen shut on and off animation, kinda like a crt lol. it seems to run best setting speeds 787mhz or lower for max. its fine the way it is at 600 for most users probably. one wierd thing though in google sky, i notice the poles on the cardinal directions are right, but the constelations are nearly inverted. when i point at the moon it says im looking toward the sun. i assume this has something to do with the acelerometer, or just a confilct with the app and this rom. still did it after fresh install. not that its a big deal, and havent tested any othher app that with similiar use. i havent tested tethering or gps or anything else yet. ive got nearly 75 apps counting the ones that came with thr rom, and only have used 45 mb and 132 free still. ive been down loading and facebooking and listening to pandora a lot. when 16 hours off full charge including 4 1/2 consecutive hours of pandora some of that time playing angry birds or facebooking during that time. also played with all of the 17 new apps i dl'd. had a couple force closes on the apps, but most of the time if you just hit wait and actually wait another ten seconds it will come back. id def sya battery works better than stock pphone. i have no battery apps installed and most of the time left it at 600 mhz unless playing angry birds. the only time the phone manualy rebooted was when i set it to 806, and it was almost immeadiately so i put it back down and didnt do it again. all in all i love it. think it is my new favorite rom. i look forward to future releases. EDIT: id like to add i had wifi on the whole use of this battery as well and it was frequently used. since 11 am yesterday i total at over 250 texts

i dont know if this helps my installations, but every time i install a rom i wipe cache, wipe data/factory reset, then install rom, then gapps (if nedded), then wipe cache again (DO NOT wipe data/factory reset again! for those that are new to flashing and reading this) and then reboot system. i havent had any bad installs due to this method yet. i notice some roms slack a little after first install but after a lil use and another reboot after installing and syncing everything etc they run better. i wait to flash any theme until after i have rebooted at least one more time after the reboot from rom flash (2 reboots total). its just something i do, not sure if that does anything special, but this also has shown me no conflict yet. but im still new to this, so keep in mind im by no means an expert

If it ain't broke don't fix it. I'm glade to see another way that works to install this ROM. This is a pretty amazing ROM all things considered. Once I got a few reboots under my belt this ROM has turned out to be pretty darn stable. Things that I have done using other ROM's that would cause them to hang or reboot, doesn't even affect this ROM. It just keeps ticking away. I got the CPU set to 787Hz-480Hz interactive. No special profiles. When in the car,the battery has never gone over 35c(the car dock is right near the winshield so I can see it with out taking my eyes off the road). I live in Southern Florida were it gets pretty hot this time of year. I'm typically getting around 15 to 22 hours off charge,Depending on usage. This build is right on track plus I can only find 1 miniscule problem (gallery is still not showing all images, unless that image is selected). 1 minor problem (the phone has to be on to charge, the screen can be off,but the phone has to be on). and 1 important-but can live with it problem(Bluetooth). Even the headset is now stable. I caused a few amperage spikes and the plug-in was still fine and everything works properly. I have to say that even if the bluetooth never works(but it would be nice if it could) This is the ROM I choose. It just has way too much offer, and I keep finding more cool stuff every day. Way to go JerryScript and Blarfie.

Thanks for the feedback again everyone! I'm glad to hear you are liking it! :)

I'm begining to believe some borked installs are the result of the recovery not wiping properly. Xionia doesn't seem to get the job done without multiple attempts. It only takes a minute to flash a different recovery, so if you think this problem is affecting you, I would recommend trying the latest ClockworkMod recovery by Koush. Initial reports by people using it haven't shown the same issues as those using Xionia.

Edit: formatting system and boot should also help, just don't format data if you are updating to the latest build unless you want to re-install all your apps ;)

I think this has something to do with the partition layout, it's a bit different on various models of the Optimus line, which would lead to the exact type of problems being reported on Xionia. The port of Xionia used by Optimus users was originally setup for the Optimus S.

If you are getting FCs within the first 5 minutes of booting up, it's probably due to the OS not being fully loaded yet, especially if you have lots of apps on your sdcard (it's mounted last). If you are getting lots of FCs while running, try lowering your overclock one notch and see if that helps. If you keep getting FCs regardless, please report which app(s) and if you could a logcat/dmesg output would be very helpful.

Thanks for the info. Might try that on any subsequent builds. It gets tiresome having to reinstall over 80 apps every time I install a new build. I use Titanium Backup, but it's still time consuming. Just hope I don't ever have to deal with boot loping. Might keep xionia waiting in the wings just in case(I'm not just a member,I'm a "Nuub").

....(I'm not just a member,I'm a "Nuub").

That HAS to become your signature! ;)

If you are updating from a previous build of this ROM, you don't need to format everything unless you have issues. Wipe everything multiple times, but don't worry about formatting data especially, that way your apps should still be there after installation (data is where they are stored).

I was just going to tell him that should be his signature too. :)

Jerry, thanks for that info. I really hate reinstalling my apps after a flash. Just one question though, If we format everything but data, our apps will be there, but what about the app data say my wifes score on angry birds. Will she be able to pick up where she left off?? (I already pissed her off... twice). :(

I think I'm still going to stick with Xionia .4 though. Formatting multiple times doesn't take much time at all anyways.

I flashed over to the latest backside yesterday without wiping data and the game that I play still has all of my stats. In fact when you flash without clearing the data, after rebooting everything will be right where it was before the flash. Just want to add that this is now my everyday ROM, not just because of how great it is right now, but for the fact that Blarfie and Jerryscript have embraced the open source concept and have truly taken it to a new level in my opinion. If you think about it this Rom has endless possibilities once the intial phase is completed. A community ROM what a great concept!!

Hey,JerryScript, remember when I was having problems with volume spikes on the ath3nos's port of the CM7. I got them on this build too,but it's not the ROM that's causing it,it's DPS Manager. I used it on ath3nos ROM,but not any of your builds, until today. Now I got the annoying volume spikes back after setting it up. I have to set it up as neutral as possible, almost like not having it,in order not to get those volume spikes. Maybe you could find a suitable replacement,as I kinda like what it had to offer(beside the volume spikes). Other than that ,I'm at 11hours 11min off charge(using the newest Green Power for a change), and I'm at 80% battery. In the hottest part of the day(787Hz-480Hz),sitting near the windshield, with the air condtioner halfway working right, the battery never got above 37c. This may not be the fastest ROM,But I sure can't tell,Angry Birds is smooth-fast-and clean. It will probably take me a month to find an use all the hidden(and not so hidden) gems that this ROM has to offer. Thanks again for all the work, and remember...(I'm not just a member, I'm a "Nuub")

I'll try duplicating the issue with DSP manager and grab a dmesg to see what's happening. There are several volume/equalizer apps on the market that do even more, DSP manager is built into CyanogenMod, but isn't necessarily the best available.

Has anyone here found the CM easter eggs yet? I gave a hint to find them in another thread a few weeks ago, but I don't know if anyone caught it. ;)

I haven't yet... But I'll be looking now. I did see in another forum where they used your greentheme and installed eyecandy as well. They said after installing the eyecandy theme, bits of the greentheme was left behind leaving a cool interface. They was right. I love the eyecandy stuff along with the green glow of the green theme.
Upgrading to the 7/25 ROM now and using your install instructions of not formating the data so the game and other data will remain. Not sleeping on the couch tonight depends on it. ;)
