I guess trying something for the 1000th time finally does pay off. Currently connected to MY wifi network.
What I did different- went into my time capsule (Mac) and changed WPA2 PSK (which it's been on for several years) to WEP.
Don't know though why that change made a difference.

Blue one just added to my wish list. I'm preparing for purchase. Once early May passes (too many b'days for me to buy early), I'm targeting end of May to get one. Well, it also depends on any information I can dig out of the Samsung boutique at Best Buy (gonna check local Best Buys to see which one have that set up already).

Nevermind, I guess I'm waiting until the weekend. All the Samsung Experience boutiques are in Best Buy locations that are a little further away than the 4 within 5-7 miles from me.

I've been saying for a long time that 98% of these cases are the same but because they're sold by various sellers, buyers think they've discovered a "new" case.
After a while I got tired of wasting my breath on these forums trying to inform folks that Moe, Larry & Curly were selling the same case from the same distributor.
Anyway, those cases that have the flip out backwards stand tend to have a small piece of metal in them. Without realizing it you can break it while trying to close it back because the metal isn't obvious.
When I was making my selection for which case I wanted (and trust me I must have read about 300 opinions last night / morning after I got my tab connected to my wifi) I steered very clear of the flip out stands.
Also, you added the blue to your wish l list. The part the keyboard sits on is magnetic and from the YT video I watched, it's super strong. Also.... again (LOL) the case comes with the sleep (close case) /awake (open case) function. Many of the Note 8 cases on eBay and A'zon don't have it which is another reason all the reading I did was necessary.
A lot of folks don't know the Note 8 does this just like iPad. Only difference with iPad you can turn sleep/awake with Smart Case on or off. Note 8 doesn't have an on/off setting.

I love the concept of a keyboard case, but at the same time...I already have a FAVI entertainment bluetooth keyboard that I could use. It'll be a tough decision. I'm surprised you didn't consider this one (considering your love for white accessories):

I know your solution was to change to WEP, but I just saw this link pop up in my search for news on the Note 8.0. I'm figuring you already tried this method, but in the troubleshooting tips, it does specify an issue with Wi-fi:

Returned mine today. I have the S3 and the Note 10.1, I was really wanting to like the Note 8 and it IS a nice device, just had buyers remorse and struggled with the price vs value due to already owning the 10.1. When it drops to 299 I'll be all over it again.

That white/red case/keyboard combo was the first thing I placed in my shopping cart last night but I removed it and went with the book style instead. It had that flip out stand; and although it's wider than others I saw, I decided to go the other route and see how this one performs If I like it enough and it doesn't hamper the S-Pen (which I don't think it will) I'll get it.
As far as the wifi issues, all this stuff posted I had already done all of that and nothing worked other than changing the type of encryption.
@CrockettGTO Don't look at it as buyers remorse. You already have a very capable tablet so it's not as though you'll be missing much from the Note 8.
The more I use mine the more I think I should've just gotten the 10.1 cause $400 does feel like a lot for an 8" tablet.

I would do the same if the price was lower and had higher capacity. I have a Note 2 and 10.1. Was thinking about adding it to my collection too. The only thing I don't like is that it looks like a super sized phone than a tablet. If it looked like a smaller version of the 10.1 I would have loved it.
If anyone is close to experiencing buyer's remorse that would be scandalex. She already hit the "throw the device across the room" and "it's more trouble than it's worth" phase.

Hilarious NeoGrandizer! I sold my Nexus 7 to help fund my Note 8. I really like the feel of the 7-8 inch tablet for reading at night and general portability. So now I am torn, do I buy another Nexus 7 (duh can't believe I am saying this!) or do I get the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. The iPad Mini is out of the question (price and not Android)
Do any of you have any experience with the Tab 2 7" you could share?

$529 for the 32gb w/ book cover is SO tempting. If you translate that to what the price was before that's $20 off the price for both, when the 32gb was 499.

I have no experience with any 7" tablets. The Note 10.1 is my first Android tablet and the original Note was my first Android phone. LOL. I love the whole Note line. It would be nice to add the 8, but it looks like that's not going to happen any time soon. If I did have the funds and money to burn this would be my first mid range Android tablet. No doubt about that.

If I had to choose between the Note 8 and the Galaxy Tab 2 7" I'd choose the Note 8 in a heartbeat. Yes it looks like a super sized Note 2 but this 8 is incredibly fast.
I returned my Tab 2 around the same time the Note 2 was released thinking having both would be overkill.
I can't compare to the Nexus 7--never used one. If it had come in white it would've given me a choice. The tab 2 I got in white.

So, you'd go with the 10.1 32gb over the 8.0 16gb, if it were in white?

I classified it as mid-range in terms of size. Since its size it considerably larger than a phone, but at the same time smaller than a full fledged tablet.
I'm curious too about how the Note 8 will compare to a 10.1. There are many praises of it being better compared to the 10.1 when it was first released; but not much about comparing it to the current 10.1 with the current JB update. I can imagine the S Pen working better because of an improved digitizer under the hood compared to the 10.1.
Only thing holding me back is:
1) I already have a Note 10.1
2) the design (not digging the super-sized phone look)
No multi-window cascade support (only split dual screen). But maybe this is due to the smaller size screen? No front facing stereo speakers (as stated, I can't wear headphones or earphones for a long period of time). No camera flash (what were they thinking?). 16GB storage (I already surpassed that capacity with my 32GB Note 10.1; it only has roughly 9GB free space left).
Only downside for the 10.1 is it's weight if held over a long period of time. The 10.1 is not as portable as the 8. But in all honestly, it's a little smaller than a regular 8.5x11 notebook. The 8 is clocked 200MHz faster than the 10.1 using the same integrated CPU/GPU chip. The 8 may contain software updates/enhancements to improve user experience.
These are only my observations based on reviews and specs on the 8. They are my own personal thoughts about it and are not a true comparison. I have not held an 8 or owned one. No one in my area has it yet and no display models. And I'm not going to go looking for a display model to try out either as I have no intention of getting one yet (if ever).

After thinking more about this--nope I wouldn't. 16GB is enough (although you get less than that). I'm waiting now on my 64GB mSD card I ordered. Going with Samsung brand card this time. SanDisk just scares me these days.
I still don't like the placement of the speakers at the bottom but I did notice it doesn't sound like volume is only coming from one side which is a plus. It's loud like the Note 2 and since I do like this tablet I guess I haven't been spending much time trying to find things I don't like.
That MiniSuit keyboard case for the 10.1 got some pretty bad comments from Amazon customers--from the stand breaking to the tablet falling out. The QQ I ordered, the only reviews I could find were based on the iPad and everyone seemed to be gushing all over it.
I also bought the Sony DR-BTN200 Bluetooth Wireless Headphones, White
This is the only semblance of a review I could find--apparently they're a new Sony headset that hasn't been blogged about yet.

K...but you know my situation. There 3 key factors that is holding me back from getting the Note 10.1, and just waiting until some sort of information is released regarding any potential 32gb 8.0.
1) Size/Portability
2) microUSB/MHL charging port (I didn't realize how important that is to me, until realizing that I don't have to drag an extra charger everywhere)
3) Using S-Pen on the capacitive buttons (as much as I use the S-pen...that's really important, especially when I can just check emails using the S-pen and never having to touch the tablet except when turning on and off standby).
Do you have a good set of wired headphones? If you do, I'd cancel that order and just get the Samsung HS3000 or something similar. I've been using mine in my car and it has worked perfectly and the sound is way better than I anticipated.

That's the reason I never got the 10.1. I was constantly hoping a 32GB white one would surface because tablets aren't usually something that gets replaced as fast as a phone.

I think you mean data/sync cable. The charger for the Note 2 works on the Note 10.1 and vice versa. The travel charger that comes with either is rated at 5v 2A. The Note 10.1 charger is more blockier than the Note 2 charger.
I think the more valid argument is you don't need additional accessories if you have an 8 opposed to the 10.1 (due to its 30 pin interface).

I think the reason behind the proprietary plug on most tablets is to overcome the limitations of USB charging. Which its why it's rare to see a tablet with a micro USB charging port. That is a negative to some because it's a slower charge over USB.

Yeah, I can see how it'd be a negative for some based on the faster charging. I'm going in to a Best Buy Samsung Experience location today. Depending on what they say regarding alienate color variants, that will determine whether I buy a Note 8 today or wait even longer.
I've pretty much decided on getting the Note 8 now. Just a matter of my either keeping my Note 2 international or selling that. The Note 8 will work fine as a dedicated media player in my car, as I am now using Note 2. I can easily get another international phone when I need it.
Pretty tough decisions to make...lol
