Wild UI. Have you seen this?

Anyone getting it? Anyone excited about it? Anyone know the release date? Any input? Appreciate your replies in advance.
 
SPB Mobile shell was the only thing that made my Windows Mobile phone bearable.

It's fantastic, but I don't know that it's worth $30 bucks over Launcher Pro.

yeah...i will not being paying for it if its $30 bucks. but...i will get it:cool:
i know with the windows phones i work with at work its a must!
 
$30 bucks for a launcher is unreasonable these days. In the old days of WM, maybe it made sense, but you can get LP+ for like $4 bucks. rip off alert

The thing you guys have to realize is this in not just a replacement launcher like Launcher Pro. It is a complete replacement UI. Is it worth $30? Probably not for the average user, but you cant really compare it to Launcher Pro or ADW or anything else available because its in a whole different class.

And YES I will be one of the first to pick it up as soon as available. :D

I had SPB 3.5 on my Omnia 1 with WM 6.1. I used it almost from the time I got the phone and loved it. It was a really nice feature, but I really don't see the need on my Droid X.

I also used SPB back-up on my Omnia. It had a "restore after upgrade" feature that worked really great after the GPS upgrade on the Omnia 1. I put everything back like my phone was before the upgrade. Email addresses, files, etc.

so your telling me that SPB, basically unlocked the boot loader?
cause if its running on top of blur/android....its just like launcher pro.

Blasphemy. I never said that and don't put words into my mouth. Launcher Pro is a launcher and nothing more. It doesn't change all the menus or the way you make phone calls etc.

Mobile Shell will change the way you do everything on your Droid but you already know that because you said you use Mobile Shell for work. You are going to honestly sit here and tell me that Launcher Pro and Mobile Shell are in the same class? Because I know first hand there is a world of difference between the two.

i never put words in your mouth (more forcefully put it down your throat..nicely :) )

i agree they are different, but its still ON TOP of android and blur.
i think SPB will be like a late version of a-home for android...or that panda home thing. we already have those. so for SPB to still be in the winmo state of mind that they crappy kind of weak app is worth $30...they are ******ed!
i know with winmo you could customize the hell out of spb...u could even play with the xml and make it REALLY your own. will that be possible in android...it better be! shoot it better be a selling point for $30!

I agree with you on all accounts. I do expect it will be just as customizable on Android as it was on WinMo and I am very much looking forward to that.

I also agree they are going to be hard pressed selling many copies at $30 a piece when the game has changed so much over the past few years and alternatives that re so much cheaper have been established.

Also I am a Launcher Pro user myself and by no means did I mean to degrade Launcher Pro in my statements.

i cant wait. they have innovated (3-d cube, nice effects in spb 3) so...i`ll be checkin for them but...lets just say i`ll try it before i obtain it :)
 
I might try it. It is a SHELL, not a launcher. The interface was really intuitive, and the 3D mail and messaging was pretty cool.

However I'm interested to see how well it will work on the X if it can't kill blur. Even on lowly WinMo there were parts it couldn't replace and the experience was rather disjointed. For lower more vanilla Android phones I suspect it will be quite nice.

Also the later versions of it had a terrible memory leak.

spb`s UI can be modded sooo much!
hope the same comes to android. i do know that with my omnia, using the SPB shell actually helped the battery. it was hardware accelerated. i signed up for the beta so, when i get an apk i will post :)
