Root [WIP][DEV] Custom Recovery/Bootloader unlocking Work In Progress Thread

Been gone a long time i came over from XDA when i got a motion.. love the phone, love to dev. today is my last day of RL work for 2 weeks. then im gonna give it 100% for the next however long it take to try to get us what we need.

-Shabby i would love to run a few things by you when i start VIA some form of IM if thats ok with you.

Wallpaper isn't our problem. I have removed wallpaper both from the code and also just deleted the file. Aboot has a built-in security check, and we can't modify aboot until we remove the check from the file that loads it.
 
I decompiled the boot image but it doesn't matter if you change it the boot loader won't boot it if you pushed it through. I thought a dummy file could be a possible work around but not if it actually checks the file.

If someone can get me a copy of any phone with an unlocked bootloader's (Nexus, for example) /system folder, I will give it a try, although it is very risky... it would be better if someone had a phone they can replace/don't need, and I could give them instructions. If not, I am willing to try.
 
went in to the dialar type in ##626* and then 587846 saw a menu asking for a sd card update but it was blank even with the update d on there so i move a dot zip update to the same section and booted to the lg update recovery and it didnt install just crash the installer wondering if i could get a correct ly signed update dot to seem if the recovery will flash it

or put a modified version of the app to flash roms

The optimus g is using the nexus boot loader to unlock it ;)
 
pushing another phones system will prolly just bootloop because of the wallpaper binary.

as a quick update the progress towards switching to metro is still going good, im up to 7GB's roaming. in a few days ill have a metropcs sgs3 thanks to the very generous people on the sgs3 forums. fear not i didnt forget you guys, hereticsins can back up my claim that i still plan on working on cwm for you guys. :)
