Root [WIP][DEV] Custom Recovery/Bootloader unlocking Work In Progress Thread

Anyone able to compile our kernel? I keep getting an errno 13, permission denied, even as root (not sudo, but actually changing to the root user) with "chmod 777 / -R" as a last-ditch effort.

It didnt compile fully for me but did compile normally up to an error on piggy.lzo, which is after the Imageis built and its being compressed into a zImage. I didnt bother debugging the error either.

You are obviously doing something wrong. Try reading the readme. ;)

You can sub AOSP src with CM9/10 src. ;)

That's an easy fix, I posted how to fix that before somewhere in this forum, don't remember which program it was i had to install...I think it was called piggy something...
 
Alright, I still can't get it to compile. Can you package up the kernel folder after compiling and send it to me? I need the whole source, not just the binaries. I skimmed through the readme, and it seemed to just say to configure and make. What are all the dependencies?
 
i dont get what you dont understand. all that is needed to compile the kernel is in the readme. playfulgod could send you his kernel source and it still wouldnt work for you. you are missing apparently everything.

if you cant get stock kernel to compile at all what faith should anyone have that you are gunna modify the source and get kexec working? in all honesty you really should stop shooting for teh stars and learn teh basics before you post about how close you are etc getting peoples hopes up.

No I cant send you a magic zip and it compile for you.

Dependencies are to install the android sdk, repo sync AOSP or CM src, and install all the other lil dependencies listed on one of the million guides on setting up a build environment. ;)

Thanks to PlayfulGod, I got the Kernel Compiled and such. I pushed it to Monday due to work, which I am leaving for right now. I will have it then for you, with instructions on how to install, and use.

This is not just like any other /flash and forget/ kernel, as it's only an alpha build. But, we will see then.

zeest, I suggest that you talk to Anga and PG about where they gained their knowledge and gumption....

We appreciate your assistance, we truly do, but as Shabby stated, you're not doing it correctly and you're getting people's hopes up. We all want our phone unlocked, but false hope will just frustrate and anger people.
