Root [WIP][DEV] Custom Recovery/Bootloader unlocking Work In Progress Thread

I am new to the motion but has anyone seen this

Official bootloader unlock procedure from LG

I just checked my emails and saw a reply from LG,
containing the official unlocking
procedure

alright, so here you go:

Quote:

Please follow below directions to unlock bootloader.

1. Turn on the phone with SIM card, and wait for connection to the real network.

2. Wait for couple of hours.

3. Connect your handset to local PC with USB cable.

4. Enter "adb reboot oem-unlock" in DOS command window.

5. Reboot handset and you can see the bootloader unlock guide on your phone.

6-1. If you press volume up key, handset is bootloader unlock status.

You can download custom image using fastboot command.

6-2 If you press power on key, user doesnot accept unlock bootlaoder and handset normally power on

I just flashed an mms fix to try and get it working with cm10, and it put me into fastboot mode. I tried the fastboot oem unlock, and it said that it worked. Then i unbricked.

Although i doubt it worked, any way to check if the fastboot command did anything?

i posted this already and sepero already tried and did not work.

Anybody with a test phone wanna delete the recovery pARtition (and use adb reboot recovery) to enter fastboot mode and try fastboot oem unlock, fastboot oem get_unlock_data and fastboot getvar all then post results? I have everything on my phone and cannot factory reset as this will reset the phone! If my girl gets a new phone i will have a test phone lol

I tried all that. Nothing happens. There was a thread about it.

If you unbricked, you reflashed the bootloader, causing lock.

I tried this already. It doesn't work. The correct way to get out of fastboot is by flashing the boot.img and then typing fastboot continue.

Stop wasting your time with fastboot. I tried EVERYTHING. Thank you.

Where did I miss a thread about all this being tried? Typing fastboot getvar all should display a bootloader status? Typing fastboot devices should verify you are actually in fastboot.

Ah I was even in that thread. Running fastboot getvar all which display bootloader info including version. Compare version to motorala version...

You would still get morning call until modifications are made to get rid of wallpaper....that's why on the g the script replaces bootloader with the unlocked one then immediately gets rid of wallpaper lol

@sammyz, since u have more knowledge than myself, wen unbricking does it also update the bootloader? or not touched at all?

Im assumming that unbricking would not touch the boatloader locked/unlocked status. Merely put things back the way they were. I believe according to that motorola article if you relock that qfuse is blown and cannot be unlocked again? I dont think a simple firmware flash would mess with that. I am downloading ubuntu again but my isp is very slow so im hotspotting to get it as quick as i can. I will unpack the boot.img and do away with the wallpaper and repack it. Then we can try a fastboot unlock push the new boot.img and boot to see 1. if it boots and 2. if the changes remain in tact.

what you guys need to understand is this isnt motorola. moto have been using fuses for a while some of their older devices (droid x etc) came with ways to unlock them but blew the efuse to prevent people from unlocking them.

the latest unlock tool by dan allows the non developer versions of these devices to unlock. moto left those fuses unblown in the regular version and just used software to tell the two apart which led to this. this device may have no fuses, it may have teh exact same ones, it may have them in a different location.

lets say for instance you probe teh right fuse on a razr M it thinks oh hey im a dev version and im unlocked. you probe the right "fuse" on the motion. there is no guarantee that there will be any form of it realizing oh crap so this is what unlocked feels like, it may just error out, it could brick, it could say hey im unlocked but now idk wtf to do.

the moto stuff worked because there was already systems in place for when it unlocked, not so much here as far as we can tell. unless someone knows something more they arent sharing :/

Yeah its all trail and error, no certainty. If i had a test device i would test all this but i cannot risk my company phone atm. Its worth a shot though, we've worked at this alot!

I think when tot'ing or cab'ing the bootloader gets installed too, kinda like flashing the factory images on a nexus with the flashall package. But like you said sammyz might know more about it. ;)

You coud be correct. I know the xperia can flash their firmware again and it will not unlock the bootloader again. Im sure its different for different devices.

quoting shabby cuz he is right and i forgot to mention sometimes(mostly) wen unlocking the bootloader it erases user data(drm thing i believe) and well what if the motion isnt meant to be unlocked as shabby said what if u successfully unlock but have a brick what use will that be.
