But yes, The Motion is worth its money for the specs you get. I wouldnt be able to deal with its display, too use to bigger and better.

My wife has the Motion, and it's seriously reminds me of a wider Optimus and the Optimus was only 3.2". I have the Spirit and the display is amazing, plus worth the price.

Well for one I will never buy another locked device for my personal device again (Dev work excluded) regardless who makes it.

I'm in the same boat too. I agree with all of you that I won't ever be buying another device with a locked bootloader.

For anyone who thinks this doesn't affect you, you might want to think again, because it probably will. A lot of developers aren't going to put up with these locked bootloaders. We want a device we can have full control over and fully inspect/modify.

So if you like community support, getting root access, custom roms (cyanogenmod/asop), and custom device mods (audio/visual/feature enhancements)-
then you might want to pay attention to what devices the developers are buying. Otherwise, one day you might be left frustrated and wondering why you can't do all this cool stuff with the new device you just got for a "great price".

I bought my lg motions one at time.i knew the bootoader was locked. So now i have 3 for less than a spirit.
Plus is makes me look important at starbucks messin with 3 phones and a laptop
I can afford to buy a gun for 20 bucks so might be able to get a spirit soon to.

No. The Spirits display was supposed to be better. From what I heard, the Spirit is a bigger Motion with a better display

spirit has qhd which is worlds better than the motions, but still on par with phones from 2011.

I go to metro and the have to ask me how to turn the phone on !
One time in the store i mentioned a charger problem,after there 2 second inspection they verufied my phones board was shot
I then cleaned the charger port with cleanex ,spit and a toothpick ,Bam fixed

It must be nice when they dont act like your stupid and tell you your phone is totalled when the dont know whats wrong.

I was surprised myself, when my buddy introduced me to his store, he told me he wasn't going to do anything about it if I needed a replacement and I was rooted. I've been through T-Mobile and Sprint.

Funny thing is I was in a Sprint store when I bought my first android back when they let you play with the display models, someone had rooted HTC Evo that was there and threw a custom ROM on it, I didn't really get it until a while later when I spent some time mucking around android forums looking for hacks.

I'd be afraid that if I said the word root in context or not in a Sprint or T-Mobile store they'd void my warranty on the spot.

I go to my friends' store quite often he gave me a good deal actually directed me somewhere else to buy an SDCard that is reliable. It's worth it.

2 Second evaluation? He wouldn't even try to turn the phone on?

sprint has a root friendly policy. if you are experiencing issues they will flash to stock for you. i brought my wifes epic 4g touch in the other day to get a new battery and it had aokp on it

from the looks of it, its just booting the recovery.tar

This log is on a modified recovery image that deletes the wallpaper file but still partially resets and gives security error. Their is lots more but it seemed to of refer that the recovery fstab is what failed.

Can someone build a custom boot which can bypass the security checks ? I have flashed an altered aboot and need to check whether i can still boot into the OS with stuff disabled.

@sammyz Can you provide some aboot partitions from difference devices ? I guess you have downloaded some firmware for phones having similar processor while testing the lgextract tool?

Well i flashed the boot chain of LG Mach(MSM8960) (SBL1,SBL2,SBL3,ABOOT,RPM,TZ) on motion(MSM8960L) and it seems to be working perfectly fine. I guess similar SOC's bootchain are compatible with each other.

It was tested before. All LG phones with the dual core Snapdragon S4 have a locked bootloader.
