Soft bricked my phone twice already LOL! This is my one and only and I use it to take support calls also. I'm going to try a few more times then say f#$k it. On a device similar to ours they hijacked the charging system, on another they hijacked the wallpaper. You would think using similar methods to trick other LG devices should work with ours. They can't be that different can they? This is me being hopeful :)

Gotta pay attention to the 4x phone....but don't flash anything from it. Just have to use their methods of deving in order to getting stuff done.
 
Just using their method as a roadmap. But if you don't get past the guard at the gate he makes you a soft brick. I'm pouring over logcat, dmesg, and boot logs etc. Been looking for clues on what we can hijack to pass 2nd init to. Maybe we have to write our own 2nd init, the one included in their app references HTC.

Well if the original file booted to cwm, one would think thats all that would need replaced. Dunno tho lol, very hard working on shyt like this blind. So gl n i will advise when i can. Other that i am at a loss on it. ;)

I know, right! That's the first thing I did was replace the boot ramdisk with ours and also recovery made by Jenkins. Next I started mucking with the bootrecovery and bootunsecure scripts. Swapped out netd with ours. Tried running scripts manually. I'm gonna keep pluggin away until I've decompiled every piece of this crizap and it starts to make sense LOL! Thanks for your attention to this effort!

So for clarification, you tried version 1.0 and you booted into CWM recovery. You were able to move through menu with vol rocker. You were able to boot normally? At what point did you get into bootloop? Was this on v1.0 or 1.1/1.2? Thanks!
 
I used the 1.0 apk. I flashed recovery and then rebooted into recovery via the app...it booted into CWM and I used the volume rocker to navigate.. went to reboot and clicked the power button it rebooted and got to the boot animation and stuck...I removed the battery and it still would not boot normally after at least 5 attempts so I did the unbrick process and I was fine after that


I did not follow dexters rules with rebooting first and then going into recovery after
 
I talked to LG live chat and they told me metro is the one who locked the bootloader could that be true....also how would we be able to find an inside man that could leak the unlock of the bootloader either at LG or metro?

Bootloader is locked by LG... what LG thinks you mean by bootloader is it being locked to metropcs. But we are not talking about carrier unlocking and unlocking the bootloader does not allow you to change carrier.

Thanks! I'm going to take another fstab at this. I missed a couple client's calls last time I mucked up my device so I'm hesitant to use it as a tester :) Looking into getting an SIII and some guy at work wants to buy my Motion so I don't know how much longer I'll be able to help. Would love to figure this shiznit out though. :hmmmm2:
 
You give up way too easily. I had my admire at least four months before we got recovery. Be patient. When it comes we'll make this already kick a$$ phone even better? For now we can still do almost any thing we could with a recovery, just with a few extra steps...and a lot more caution
 
Well guys, I took the plunge again last night. Thank you again sammyz for the KDZ guide. Got caught in a bootloop upon rebooting system. At least it was the correct boot image/ramdisk lol. Didn't try booting to recovery though so I wasted that bit. From what I observed on the bootloop it looked like 2nd-init was booting the ramdisk in /system/bootmenu (the original bootanimation played) but LG Police noticed and reset the device. I watched this shiznit for a few minutes. ADB wouldn't connect during this fiasco. I also tried compiling elf toolchain, to look further into 2nd-init, but for some reason OpenGroup seems to have left a few things out of their distro for tet so the toolkit fails to build at the test suite phase :mad:
 
man u guys rock! i wish i could be helpful bt i dont even own a motion i use mi stepmothers she doesn't even kno its rooted! once we get the recovery working properly its gonna open the true floodgates :D
