Root Wiping Question

I almost always use Calkulin's Format All zip file instead of the Virus Superwipe as part of my flash routine, but last week I used the Superwipe a few times. I noticed that some music I had downloaded from the Amazon MP3 cloud and saved to my SD card is suddenly gone. I'm positive that kind of stuff isn't tied into the Amazon MP3 app because I frequently ROM hop and never have to bother with downloading new music each time. But I also did NOT wipe my SD card while doing any of them, so I can't figure out why some stuff would disappear off my SD card but other stuff wouldn't.

I also noticed this with my Fancy Widget clock and weather skins....they disappeared but they have carried over from rom to rom in the past. But all my pictures and roms and all the other stuff I have saved on my SD card is there. What gives?

Yeah that's weird. I always assumed that I was just flaky, but I swear I have had files just disappear like that... It's weird.

Not really much help, but I think this happens to other people too...

I'm fairly disorganized and haven't noticed losing anything. hate you lost your stuff, hope it was replaceable.

Wonder if it was actually on the sd card or internal memory though?

Mizzou this doesnt really sound like a wipe issue. Unless you wipe the SD its not touched besides if it wiped one thing from sd it would wipe it all. This could be a ROM issue what ROM is it? or it could be a Card issue. Have you checked your card for any Filesystem errors lately? I'm assuming when you hook up to the computer you don't see the files on the card. Do you have a card backup regime?

Not sure what happened to your mp3 songs but you posted the edify version of Calkulin's wipe a while back and I've been using that wiping script for a while now except I deleted it. Do you by chance have it somewhere, I can't seem to find it? Much appreciated :)

hi i use caulkins temp wipe and cache and delvick all the time for stablizing my roms and never a problem with any apps or sdcard saves...and i always use vipers superwipe before rom installs and never had an sdcard problem with any saves..but i dont partition my card cause i dont c the need for myself so maybe its a partition thing? hope this helps

are you by chance on a aosp rom? I ask, cuz i have had files randomly "disappear" as well. For me tho, the files didnt really disappear, just that the rom lost sight of them. Open up you file explorer of choice(or hook to pc and enable storage mode), and search for them that way, mine are always where they should be, but as I said, sometimes after wiping caches the o.s. doesn't see them any more.

Yeah it's baffling because I have pictures from the day I got my phone but some of this other stuff has disappeared more than once. It could maybe be app related or something I suppose.
