X for Fascinate..... Don't be stupid!

Honestly some store reps will swap it. Depends on how cute the girl is.;)_

Damn I went into VZW store the other day and they had the hottest girl working the floor I didn't want to stop asking her questions, even if she was giving me bad info:D

Thats why I said people think the Xs camera is good "because its 8mp" . Thats not the case. The software and the options you have are what make it awesome.

I have the X, Wife has the SF.
My take on them:

X Camera Sux. Fascinate cam is Awesome.
X Battery is OK. SF Battery Poor.
X GPS is Great, SF SUX.

I still like the SF though.

How does the X's camera suck? My girlfriend has an X and that thing takes amazing pictures.

If look thru the X picture thread, and come hear and honestly say the camera suX, you either have a bad phone or its user error. The camera on the X is the best camera on a phone period, the only thing I've seen compare might be the IP4

To be fair to the Fascinate with your tests, Outlaw, you were testing your polished X with an unpolished Fascinate...

I know where you're coming from with that response, I do. But the thing I was most interested in comparing were the screens. And my personal assessment was that they were dead even. I wouldn't say it was any better than the DX screen, but definately not any worse.

And the 'fake' color thing really doesn't factor into my comparo because I'm color blind. So nothing seemed off about it to me, but I wouldn't know even if it were off. The thing I was most curious about was the Super Amoled screens performance in bright sunlight, because at anything less than 100% and I can barely see my screen outside in sunlight. And as far as I could tell the SF's screen held no advantage what-so-ever in this respect. I had to dial it all the way up to legibly read it. And with them both turned all the way up, side by side, right next to eachother, I called it a draw... not what I was expecting.

But yes I will give you the fact that I was comparing everything else with the Fascinate against a phone that had been dialed in to my liking.

I think the Droid X has a nice camera but for some reason Motorola's cameras seem to have like grain in them(nothing bad) but a lot of noise and grain in them and that frustrated me

HTC seems to not have a lot of grain or noise but the colors are not exactly saturdated

Samsung seems to have found a balance between the saturation and noise balance

I like Microsoft's WP7 policy when it comes to the carriers. They will be able to use 4 squares to put whatever they want on a wp7 put it MUST be uninstallable. I really think Google needs to start making a few demands on these carriers if they are going to use their free OS and making crap ware uninstallable should be number 1.

That's awesome!!! Seriously, if I can be honest about this without ruffling any feathers, my sincerest hope is that the Windows 7 mobile OS is a huge success, that it eats into Androids market share, and that the good points about the platform such as these are directly traced back to the reason it is so successful. And I say that not because I wish any ill will towards Android, but because I honestly believe this is the only thing that will shake the tree over there at Google and make them realize they need to get tougher on the OEM 's. That is the only area that I feel they are really dropping the ball. And competition drives companies to come out with improved products. So if they see that they are loosing market share due to people not liking that they are stuck with all the bloatware on their devices and will spend their money on an OS that, while it may not be superior over all to the Android platform, at least has a friendlier UI, and trumps it in customizing potential.

If we can wake Google up and get them in a war with Windows over who has the most wide open device on the market.... WE WIN!!! :D

you're going to have to show me what you're talking about, because I just don't see it with the pictures I take with my X.

is it just me or do you guys download LP on every phone you test out in the store? LOL

I know I did when I played with both at a store near me. Now I just have to think of all the people who like that interface only to be disappointed when they purchase the phone and have the stock UI. Oh how cruel.

Well if the reps at that particular store are doing what they are supposed to, they are resetting the phones to factory settings every night

jreed, i posted my pictures on the droid x
in the first 1-4 pages of the that picture thread in the droid x forum

I am not saying the droid x camera is bad...it is great
i just like the pictures of myself on my captivate

now i have a captivate so idk how a fascinate(or vibrant or epic for that matter)would perform but i would assume it cant be too different

I'm also disappointed with the camera on my X. There is no detail, there's a lot of noise and posterization and using the default settings results in a milky haze on every photo I shoot. It's not all bad... the colors are pretty accurate and the flash is far better then any other led phone flash I've seen (usually those led flashes create hotspots so intense that it drowns out the image you are trying to capture).

What's really weird is that the HD video I shoot looks really impressive for a phone camcorder. It doesn't seem to exhibit the same problems I have when shooting still photos.

I've checked out the photos in the camera thread and I'm amazed at some of the shots people are getting. None of mine are that caliber.

have you checked for finger prints on your lens before you shoot. It causes a haze over all the pictures. Aside from that, I guess QC for moto sucked on these phones because some are amazing and I guess others fall quite a bit short.

Yup, I've cleaned the lens. It's really strange because the video always looks amazing, even indoors in less then perfect light. That said, I think I've got a workable solution... if I set the exposure to -1 and use the steadyshot mode it captures the image a bit darker then I like but it grabs more detail and with less haze. I then load the pictures into windows and touch them up... they then usually come out pretty good.

My SF wouldn't even pull a consistant signal to take a call in the Steel Building I work in,when every 3rd call goes to VM it's a deal killer.I'd have a hard time being convinced a SF has better reception and close to call quality of a X. Actually My X and My Wifes D2 are crystal clear on a call,SF was typical CellPhone noisey...
