Zenithink ZT-180 1GHz 10" tablet

I finally got the firmware update to work. It took the entire day and another computer but the bottom line is when the update is done it posts a message that was not showing on the first computer.
I have another question...
MY wifi works great right next to the router but not upstairs in my living room. There it says poor signal. Everything else works upstairs, tivo, laptops etc. but not this device. Any recommendations?? Thanks

Guys,
What is the benefits of the new firmware 1030?
Also, After this new firmware installed(1030) what is that stil not working properly or bugs remaining on this tablet(zt-180) to be a great tablet?
Flash, maybe?
I am waiting for my tablet and at the mean time I am getting all the information that you guys encountered.
Thanks.

Ps:. Also you can email to my naysses@yahoo.com

I was wondering.... will this model be flashable to Android 3.0 when out? I wouldn't want to buy a dead-end dud.... Does anybody know? Will the tablet be under-powered (CPU-wise) or under-memoried for A 3.0?

I downloaded Skype from Android Market but it falls to run on my Zenithink ZT-180, after inputting Username & p/w it just stops and goes back to my main screen :(

Anyone got Skype to run :confused: Any suggestions :confused:

Well everyone, got my tablet from Davis Micro yesterday. It arrived with the 1030 firmware already installed. One or two things that I'm worried about though, like if the ram is 256, why does it say only 66MB at the most after I've killed task is available and two, SO WANT to uninstall some crap apps included. Market worked right out of the box. I do have the similar problem like the wifi not receiving the best signal, but it does receive it and never drops. I've been able to use ES file Manager to connect to my shared folders on my network. The app doesnt stream video like it does the audio. I haven't tried any RDP apps yet, will do that today, and VPN.....haven't tried that yet either, but I think I know what is going to happen anyway. Will finish setting up my FTP server today....I think, will let you know how that goes with the tablet once done. All in all, I'm damn satisfied with what I got. Considering all I wanted it for was ebook, internet surf, and mild games, I'm much happier with this purchase than the W1120 I purchased back in April that crapped out six months later.

The 6 apps I always reccommend folks install on these in order;

1- Universal Androot
2- Root Explorer
3- Autokiller
4- Autostarts
5- Homeswitcher
6- LauncherPro

AutoKiller set Preset to Strict(60,50,40) to keep enough mem available, and autostarts to mark all the crap that tries to start for no reason at boot time and just after to Not Autostart... another Mem saver AND Big Bootup time saver.... First thing to do after is the TXPower hack to improve Wifi, save battery, and not burn yourself when you sit tablet on a knee :>)

Just my $0.02 of wisdom but I think once you've configured these things the way you want them you'll be even happier...

Thanks for the advice I really appreciate it!!! But what does homeswitcher and launchpro do? From the look of it, its already rooted, it has the superuser app installed, do I still need Universal root? Also, it would be nice for someone to develope a firmware that does all this for you when flashed.

PS: could post a link to me or tutorial and also, 1 out of the 2 drivers pickup when I connect my tablet to my Window 7 64bit computer. Wasn't there a fix for this so I can access my sd card through the tablet?

They tried to include root, but there are some problems with the way they did, thus I do it fresh in case... There still isn't a functioning mountable driver for ZT-180... Adb is better BUT still can't copy (push/pull) files to and from it that way over USB either yet...

I tried the TX power hack and for some reason I can't get the file to save. Do I need to have the devic rooted first? And what app should I use to modify it.

Yes, root it, then can use root explorer to edit that one line and save it... root explorer has the button on the screen to set FS to RW or RO... Long press on a file and choose edit in text editor after setting to Read/Write...

I think you was right about that. Superuser says I have to reboot in recovery mode and flash some zip file. Anyway, when I do Universal Root, what version of this file do use?

NEVER MIND, LOL i got it. But one question, im going to assume that this universal root works all android devices?

For prior adhoc question... always check slatedroid for answers on these tablets as we have a Large section for ZT-180 over there... and specifically for my thread for Adhoc tether;

Adhoc hotspot connection working DHCP/No static IPADDR required/edit files Once!

For Universal Androot... Unfortunately No it's Not Really Universal... there are different techniques needed to crack root on differnet devices... this app works on many but not all... I keep about 4 canned apps for this and that's been enough for just about anything I've tried so far... but all they really do is automate some techniques we always did the hard way in the early days :)

Hi all, after much searching finally found this site and thread, would be great if site moderators could list the Zenithink ZT-180 as a separate sub forum in the Tablets and Mids forum.

Guys, I found out the hard way, just because something looks useless doesn't mean you need to uninstall it. I uninstalled the latin.apk which is actually the launcher for the stock keyboard. I was fortunate enough to find the file online and just simply put it back in the /system/app/ folder. Oh and had to use root explorer to change the permissions to full. I found a website that gives a good list of system apps that you can uninstall that will not affect your OS. Ill post it as soon as I get home from work.

You're Not the first one that didn't think they wanted to learn Latin :)

I just received mine Yesterday. I have read a lot so i was skeptical.. I boot up and BINGO, Android market is there, You tube is there, connects t the Wireless router instantly. Pictures llok great, internet is awesome. Screen is not Ipad, but close. I will keep using both (I bought 2) and let you know. I have little techinical experience so it is strictly from an avg end users point ofview.
