Root ZTE ZMAX Pro (Z981) "off topic" root discussion

Here's a screenshot where it's mentioned.. it should work..

Thanks. Is it supposed to work though? It force closes.
Yes there's alot of versions on there.. but some are for root and atleast 1 should be no root but the one we need, we have to manually place the driver files in the data folder.. I saw one said driverless.. I'm figuring out the hard way which one will work for us.. I'm having a hard time figuring out the difference between them

They will work if our kernel was modded. Still need permissive...**edit** The kernel needs to be permissive to install viper4android properly.

B8. This build has many bugs. For example , play services crashes when you attempt to create a location-based reminder in Google keep.
I hear you. I scanned my zmax with quad root scanner app also. When I updated to B12 all those vulnerabilities disappeared. I truly hope I didn't screw myself out of root by upgrading to the 12

Do you get the screen glitches?, kind of like adaptive brightness? I had that play services issue. I cleared data/cache in setting and that stopped.

Lol yeah... Kyocera and ZTE have a common denominator with their firmware: run a script it doesn't like or go poking around where you shouldn't be and you're in brick city lol. Them two companies are not nearly as nice as LG with firmware, web updates and flash tools. With that said... If you guys do end up getting root access, be careful. ZTE left a surprise for the poor suckers who rooted the Obsidian. Big fat perma-brick if you flash a mod or touch a prop file lol... Who knows what the hell they coded into the zmax pro, I suspect mass casualties before the war is won.

You hit the nail on the head lol. I have an obsidian that I used supersume to replace kinguser with supersu and now gets stuck on white metro screen. I can still get to stock recovery. Tried factory reset and wipes. Didn't help. ZTE has no ROM available. Can't even get any device owners to pull OTA for us. Smh

So I looked at the screenshot and saw some others tried it and failed. Correct me if I'm wrong but those are not for our android. It says what version number to use for android 4 or 5 but we are neither on the zmax pro.
If we had permissive selinux to install it properly there's a good chance a 5.0 would work on some 6.0 devices. I'm a viper4android user since 2014. Until we get root @lambo352 posted link to a pretty good app call Equalizer Fx

How do we wants to get the phone root but people don't even read the FIRST THREAD but just want to comment first just take ya time and read through the whole thread then reply but hopefully we will get something TO WORK no reason to make each other mad if we trying to help each other teamwork and communication guys

Actually guys, anyone can post at anytime, provided they are polite, on-topic, non-attacking, etc...

We should simply point them to the correct information they're looking for, eh? :)

I think it's human nature (and I've seen this countless times in very large threads over at XDA) to make a new post if a quick perusal of the thread doesn't immediately answer their question.

No biggie...just help them out and everybody wins :).

Thanks!
Well, yeah anyone can post but it's 500x LESS productive when people just outright ignore the original post I made to help all of US just to post something that they found on Google in 20 seconds.. What's the point of keeping it updated when people wont bother reading it? I might as well just delete it and let people do whatever they please.

Yeah, people should take their time to read the first page at least. The whole thread? No, the thread will soon be way too big for that.

Lel mods are in here religiously they are aware of every comment reporting/complaining isint going to do much

Anyways on topic

I almost have temp root but it causes strange behavior in the phone on reboot any dev that I could PM about this I've never seen this before
So your publicly saying that the mods won't do anything about disrespect or complaints about it? Is that what you are saying here publicly? Please clarify since the mods are here regularly. Thanks

I spent around 40 minutes making the original post and spent some more time updating it as we got new information. Coming to this thread to ask a question without even bothering to check the one source of information that could be helpful is pretty disrespectful to me tbh. People don't always mean to be disrespectful about that stuff and just want a quick answer, but that doesn't change the fact that they ignored the gathering of work that lots of people did.

All I did was say "Please do not post without reading the original post", if that's disrespect then I don't know what isn't. I want everyone here to be on the same page about attaining root and going in circles isn't going to help anyone.

I wasn't referring to you.
