Friendly Reminder

Don't forget that this coming Sunday, the 11th, is Mother's day. We only get one mother and I suspect that everyone has a special loving person for a mother. It's been nearly 45 years ago that I lost my mother and I still miss the woman. I try to do something special for my wife for she was that special person to our four children. The mothers deserve more than a day of recognition in my opinion. I'll not let the day pass without special thoughts of my mother and and to show my wife how I appreciate the loving effort she invested in our children.

Dumber than goo

My friend's phone was stolen from her office. She got another one, but she can't set it up properly because googoo insists on sending a message to her old, missing phone despite being told that it is not available. Why are they that stupid? What can she do to get around this problem?

the Last of Us

this show is awesome, so i thought that it deserves its own thread.

season 2 is out now. just finished watching the 4th episode of season 2. have you watched it yet? it is on max. it is an incredible show. it is very close to the games from what i have read. i am currently half way done playing the 1st game and season 1 pretty much matches what you go thru in the game. it is really incredible how true they are to the game. it is pretty much the best game to movie adaptation that i have seen. i need to finish the 1st game so that i can play the 2nd one.

has any one play the game?
are you guys watching the show?

Should I keep them both or have one functioning one though, I am scratching my head to make sure it is nothing that I previously thought I would of heated with the glitches, anyone can give me a light to the puzzle.. I know I have three, intel, ASUS and NVIDIA build in.

Unexpected finding after activating my new Pixel 9

I have had a gmail account for a very long time, since before smartphones. And my first several smartphones were Androids, until a few years back when I started using an iPhone work had given me. I recently returned to the Android world with a new Pixel 9, and after activating it I was checking the photos folder and found some old pictures I had taken on former Android devices. Unbeknownst to me, they had ended up stored in my Google account and it downloaded them to my new Pixel (which also explains why I lost a lot of device storage!).
A little digging helped me find them in Google Photos and while I'm 90+% certain I have them already on a laptop (as well as a backup device), I'm currently exporting them through Google Takeout, after which I'll delete them from the Google repository and my new Pixel. I'm still a bit baffled as to how they ended up in Google Photos to begin with, though; it was quite unexpected, though it was also good to see some of the pictures again, especially since some were of my mom who I lost almost 11 years ago.
Anyway, most of you probably already know about Google Photos and you're like "DUH!," but just in case someone isn't, log into your google account and check your photos.

Outdoor Projectors......the Nebula Mars 3 is the best!!!!!!

so i just bought the Nebula Mars 3 projector. it is the only outdoor projector that i have found. it is ipx 3 rated so it can handle rain and mist as well as dust proof. it has lens protector that acts as the power button. you just close the lid on the lens and it powers off. it can handle a screen size of 200" at 1080p. it has android tv built in with chromecast. Nebula is owned by Anker and thus it has a 5 hour battery bank. it has 1,000 ansi lumens which makes it really bright. it also has a very nice built in 40W speaker with Dolby Digital Plus.

you can get it from Amazon:

here is a great review of it:

i have been looking for an outdoor projector for my backyard porch. i am currently using my porch shade as a projector screen. it projects really good onto it. i am sure that if i use an actual projector screen, the image would be that much better, but i am really happy with the setup i have now. i can now chill after work, smoke my cigar while having a nice glass of bourbon and watch my content. i can watch live sports from it thru the Direct TV app.

anybody else use a projector?

TV box live recording

I have an android 13 TV box running XCTV player and for the life of me cant get it to record live tv.
Permissions are set with full access but I just get a blank screen when trying to play back a set recording.
My previous android 9 box recorded just fine using the same software, and my old tablet running Android 9 and the same software also records fine.
I'm presuming it's down to file settings being tightened up in Android 13, anyone point me in the right direction with this issue?
Thanks, Mike

Help Lost voice keyboard input

Greetings, recently my Android 15 Pixel 6 has lost voice keyboard input, making life difficult for such tasks as texting, email, etc.. A picture of keyboards installed is attached. For years I've used the "Hacker's Keyboard", but it doesn't seem functional now, I simply can't find the microphone icon with any onscreen keyboard I try.

Help please?

Blood on carpet

Somebody stepped on broken glass and now there's a crime scene/horror movie. I've tried an Oxi Clean Maxforce gel stick and Oxi Clean powder. I'm running out of both but I do have a carpet machine that uses water and solution. It's an ugly old carpet, lowest common denominator beige, but still...

Starlink

From the net: Starlink is a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation developed by SpaceX that provides broadband internet access worldwide. It uses a network of satellites in low orbit to deliver high-speed, low-latency internet to users, especially in areas with unreliable or limited internet connectivity.

Being low Earth orbit, they often reflect sunlight after nightfall. The picture below is an example. A link was shared on another site that predicts when such a visual might be seen at your location. I haven't tried it yet but plan to.
Here is the link: SpaceX Starlink Satellites Tracker

New (refurbished) Pixel 8 has pink line on screen

I just bought a refurbished Pixel 8 from Amazon. Occasionally there is a bright pink line that runs from the top of the display to the bottom. It's just a few mm wide. I read in the article below that Google had a repair program addressing this issue. Can anyone point me to any information regarding this pink line issue?

-Thanks
