Help My phone overheated and now the screen won't work

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 that I still use mostly to play games. It started getting REALLY hot, especially during charging. I took it out of it's case, turned it completely off, and I even had the battery changed. Nothing seemed to resove the issue. Someone suggested that it could be an app that is aggrivating it and causing it to run all the time in the background. I tried to shut down apps and that didn't work. I finally did a complete wipe fo the device, and so far, no more over heating. My guess is that it is like someone said above...an aggrivating app causing the issue that is now gone. Good Luck.

Google Messages bubble colors

Now that I think about it, I think that functionality was with Verizon's messaging app. I might need to look into a different app as Hadron suggested. I'm not super picky, I've been using Google's app for so long that is just what I'm used to, but black and brown with extremely limited options to customize - come on Google!!! I do know that the black and brown are recent changes, I think they used to be light and dark blue.
Textra is way better, although it is like my cloud I keep most of my messenges..I keep deleting my messages and have them automatically back up on my messenger plus icon.

Help TF201 EE Pad Update problem

first off, it just can't be any android update. android os are very device specific. there is no generic android s that works on any device.

if you root the device, and get a custom recovery, then you can flash a custom rom. now keep in mind that it most likely will not be, exactly, be a higher android os. the way custom roms work is that the devs will take pieces of newer android os and incorporate that into the framework of whatever update your device last had. over course all of this is determined if the developers still have active links for their roms as your device is really old as you stated. most devs only support their links for so long.

.......so i'm not sure where you are going to get a "more up to date version of android"

i think its just that your device is now so old that most websites and apps have moved on and no longer support your device or technology. you are better off getting a new device. there are plenty of budget tablets that have a new os that will run much better than what you have.

Accessing dashcam footage on mobile

UPDATE: It was your prompt, svim that cracked it! New OTG cable did not work as I wished. So, I put the Dashcam SD into the phone. It did not see it. SD card had been 'formatted' in the dashcam. but I thought why not reformat in the phone?

Everything then worked, including (so far) the dashcam in recording mode, but I need to check over time. Dashcam clips loaded into the phone and played via the VLC app.

A brilliant nudge towards the solution - thanks.

Need old messages

Given you transferred your data directly from your old phone to your new phone, and that you no longer have your old phone, that leaves you with nothing as far as storage of those older text messages. It makes no difference if you use Smart Switch or some other service as a file transfer utility. since you apparently did not do any kind of backup step there's no place for you to bother looking into to find those older messages.

Just so this doesn't occur again, start using Smart Switch to make regular, full backups of your phone's user account data to a trusted computer if you have one, or into an online storage service. Backups are important,

Calendar reminders from SMS messages

Ah I went into my SMS app and settings and under suggested actions I have 'Create event' so guessing it doesn't meet the criteria for autodetecting

Depending on how the date is formed in the message, it might not recognize it as a date and won't create the link. Just out of curiosity I browsed through some old messages and unless the date included the full month/day/year it didn't seem to want to make an appointment. However if any message contained a time, it was always a link to the calendar.

Microsoft makes a messaging app that will do that does that stuff, but I don't remember if it syncs with google calendar or the microsoft to-do app, it's called SMS organizer

Knowing how Microsoft and Google get along, I would guess that the default behavior for a Microsoft app to send appointments to Outlook's calendar and, if you don't have it installed, it asks you to install and create an account long before you see any options for other calendars.

2 Months in, still some questions.

1: In the notification bar on the desktop, where tapping "Missed calls" would take me to the phone app where I could see the calls I missed, now it does nothing.

Are you talking about the "At A Glance" widget near the upper left of the home screen? Or the actual notification pull-down area?

3: Sometimes on different websites, using chrome, I get "flutter" where instead of being able to scroll down a page to new content, it just keeps "fluttering" the same section of the page over and over again. Anyone else experience this? ( This may be a chrome issue, but it never happened on any of my other phones)

That sounds to me like a website which is poorly optimized for mobile devices - likely because they're too busy shoving ad overlays instead of just showing the content you're after. I don't think it's a Chrome-specific thing, but you could try a different browser to see if the issue persists.

Google play store help

I have restarted my tablet. I have cleared both cache on play store an Google services . I have even unistalled and reinstalled Google play store. My tablet is up to date. If I can't find a solution my have to factory reset and have minecraft file with stuff ect... which I'll have to separately do a lot of things
I know you say the tablet is up to date, and from what @svim posted it was released in 2019, but I'm not sure if it would still be on the latest Android. There was an old supporting app for Play that would sometimes go wonky and require a data and cache wipe. IIRC it was something like download manager. I know you aren't actually trying to download, just preregister, but the problem mirrors the same type or issues this app would cause, so its worth a shot.

Alternatively, have you tried preregistering for the app through a browser at https:\\play.google.com, either on your own tablet using a browser or on a computer. This would at least isolate the problem being play on your tablet.

Lastly, can you link an example of a game you are trying to preregister for so one of us can try it and eliminate a broader issue with play or a specific app. :)

Bluetooth on the '16 SL has an Android issue.

Even when the phone is inside the home and the car is parked in the garage, my Bluetooth no longer connects to Android but works great with the iPhone, thus Bluetooth is definitely working well. Nissan claims that nothing can be done and that it is caused by a software update on my Android. Has anyone have this problem before and managed to fix it? I'm hopeful a solution exists.

App to Track Elapsed Time for Multiple Events

I do multi-day fermentations on various kinds of foods. Is there an Android app that would let me track each batch of beer/wine/food that I am fermenting over the course of multiple days?

As an example, say that I am testing three beer formulas, and I want to track the elased time for each of the three ferments. I would want this app to let me create three timers, name them, and then have them all continue without preventing me from creating a fourth timer later. Does that exist?

When i connect LG L70 D325 to any computer it's just charging

Keep in mind that a Factory Reset and flashing firmware are software-only solutions, they cannot solve hardware-based problems. Also stop wasting time trying different drivers and other such utilities, that's all software. And given you've tried different computers that are running completely different operating systems that's a dead end too. At this point, there's most likely to be some kind of USB-hardware related problem with your phone. Again, software can't fix that.

It's an eight year old phone, really dated as far as smartphones in general so it is not too surprising if some internal component does fail. Although it could be something as simple as cleaning the metal contacts inside the USB port. There are two dedicated solely for data transfer and two dedicated solely for power transfer. In your instance perhaps one or both of the metal contacts for data have just built up some grimy corrosion over the years.

But a phone this old isn't going to remain functional forever so work on this as challenging project but don't get too fixated.
Thanks . you are a legend. at this point i guess i have to give up .

Android Studio res file error "The file name must end with .xml" when trying to run mediapipe exampl

For anyone who is having this problem on windows, the issue is that when you run the create_win_symlinks.bat the first step is to use a command that windows might not recognize to remove the placeholder files which are these res files that contain ```../../../res```.

Solution that worked for me was to manually delete them in the hands, facedetection, and facemesh /src/main folders then running the create_win_symlinks.bat again.

USB File Transfer

Though if you have a large number of photos you want to transfer then you may have to pay Google for sufficient storage (especially if you want to maintain the highest quality). And not everyone wants to give Google a copy of their entire photo library. So I understand preferring to do your own backups.

One thing you could try: enable the "developer options" menu, look in there for a "default usb configuration" setting and set it to file transfer. That would deal with any problem of the option not showing up in notifications. Don't mess with anything else you find in there unless you know what you are doing!

To enable developer options you need to find the "About" or "About phone" section in the system Settings, choose "software information", find the "build number" and tap that repeatedly until it tells you that you are now a developer (or maybe that developer mode is enabled - they change these things occasionally). Google seem to think this is cute...

If that doesn't work then there's always the 2 stage approach: connect a usb flash drive to the phone, use a file explorer app to copy your images to that, eject it and plug it into your computer. If your computer has a USB-C socket you can use a USB-C drive. If not then you need a USB A to C connector (also known as a USB OTG adapter, but make sure it's USB C rather than microUSB) so that you can plug a USB-A drive into the phone.

Realme C25s touch problem

If you don't want the flickering white circles appearing in your CoD or typing or whatever, then turn Show taps to OFF.

Show taps, is actually a diagnostic to test the touch-screen, and normally it wouldn't be used.
I tried that, turning off the "show taps" in developer options and test it but it's still the same like i did tap it at the same time but still the other finger tip still rushing to one another finger tip (show taps) on my phone

Need a solution for a door problem

I reccomend these for general purpose drywall hanging (pictures and such, not TV's or shelves). No tools to install, minimal damage to patch and paint if you remove them, and work really well.
https://www.amazon.com/Picture-Hang...la-878074381807&ref=&adgrpid=73789135570&th=1

Those come in different gauges as well. The bigger are rated for more weight. I used those the last few years to hang mirrors for customers. I highly recommend them as well.

Help Open .URL files in Browser

I know this old but it seems to be the only thing I can find that even resembles my issue. it is like noone has encountered it or needs to do it. I often drag links on my desktop to folders. Sometimes I want the folders to be copied and pasted to my android Internal Storage or SD Card (Samsung Note 20+ and older types). Unfortunatly I just here the desktop make a notification sound that I cant define but must be saying "s*$#% you, you can't do this. The folder with the .urls never paste and if the folders contain both files and folders, it will stop pasting any other files or sub folders inside the folder being pasted once it cant paste a url. I look and there are never any URLs in the folder and it is missing the rest of the files and sub folders. I can remove the SD card and paste it and stick it back in the android, but I cant figure out why it woont let me paste them through the sync cable on my android or any other means, besides removing the SD card. Can someone explain this and is there a way to make it paste them? I can do other stuff like save links in chrome or add to the home screen, but I like android cuz it has a computer like file system, so I want o be able to do it the way I want to somehow.

I am using the URL Open App to navigate to it to open but still doesnt solve the copy paste issue onto an android device.

Thanks
