The version of Colornote I use is from 2010, so I never get asked for any account just to open the app or use it.

If there was an old Google Account set to sync on Android 2.3 you will get errors and endless prompts to re-login as your original post shows, but you can keep backing out long enough to just delete said account and it will leave you alone. Or force it via Airplane Mode or disabling Sync. I'm quite versed in Android 2.3's way, given it's my favorite version of Android.

factory reset the phone. not much you can do on such an old phone.

if you want to root the phone you do not need kies. all root guides for your phone seems to not have working links any more. where are you getting your info on rooting the phone? do you have a link?

Turns out it was a launcher after all. No idea how that got on there. All back to default. Thanks again for the help.

Whatsapp also saves chats locally (and daily) (either SD or internal memory). GD backups are once a week, I think.

I will try this: if you haven't backed up to Google Drive since you erase that chat, you can restore that backup into another PHONE. In my experience, when you uninstall Whatsapp, local backups remain and when you reinstall WA within the same phone, it will use that local backup, compare it to GD and restore messages and media according to date.

I've tried everything: setting 12 hour clock (to make the date/time longer), changing font size in the app's "chat" settings, changing system font size, changing system font style, using accessibility settings to enlarge everything, but nothing has made that string take as much space as it does in your pictures! However that's my guess at what is happening there, and I suspect that if you can shrink that text until it fits the scrolling will stop.

Sorry for the late one from myself. I've been having a lot of bother going on with my PC so only now got round to replying.

What you said triggered something in my head & I finally got the answer.

Settings > Display > Font size and style > Front size (right at the very bottom)

On my old Galaxy S10 the slider was all the way to the left. On this Galaxy S20, if the very left most setting is what we'll call "1" then it was on 5. Knock the slider to the left and it solves this WhatsApp issue.

What I don't understand is why this setting wasn't transferred over to my new phone when I used Samsung SmartSwitch, but at least we got there in the end

After spending some time with 5G on my mobile data, it does speed more then even with my wifi on, hell it sometimes just boosts up even more, it works flawlessly.

Some of those are names are I think MediaTek naming, and not things I've seen in any device I've messed with, but I can work out most of them. It clearly has more than just a ROM, I don't think it's absolutely complete as I don't see anything that looks like the radio firmware (which I'd expect to have its own image), but it would be strange to put anything related to touchscreen calibration in there.

I don't know where you got that firmware file from, but a search for "Doogee X10 stock firmware" produces many sites claiming to have it (none of the top hits were visibly from Doogee themselves). I don't know this phone, don't know about its versions or regional firmware, so would advise (as if you needed this now) making sure you have the right version for your device before trying anything. The truth is that flashing the wrong firmware can do a lot worse than mess up the screen calibration (you can potentially mess the phone up so badly you cannot flash anything else).

There are apps in the Play Store that claim to do screen calibration. Unsurprisingly these seem to be a bit hit-and-miss: they work on some devices, not on others. But it's something you can try: just search the Play Store for something like "touchscreen calibration" and you'll find some some suggestions.

As for iPhone vs Android, I know of NO one who has an Android and I receive all the texts (SMS/MMS) from my apple friends and reply and they receive the replies. Might be deeper than just the blame Apple thing. Might not be.

I don't know what you mean by a "widget" for WhatsApp (the camera button in the message entry field isn't a widget, but it's the only thing I can think of). The way to get a choice of lenses etc is to take the photos first, then share them via WhatsApp: either select share from your gallery app or else use the paperclip icon in the WhatsApp message entry field to select and add them to a message. That's how I normally work, and while there is downscaling and compression the photo quality at least is still better than a screen shot (I find video quality OK for phone usage, though if you compare side-by-side with the original you can see that it's more compressed). There is a photo quality setting, but I don't know whether that affects video (I don't send a lot of videos, and generally don't need the highest quality for sharing stuff this way: I'd email the original, or upload it and share the link, if I wanted that).

Signal has media quality settings (standard and high), but I've never used it for sending media so don't know about what that means in practice. The problem with any of these apps is that you need to persuade everyone you want to send to to sign up.

Another option is to use something like Google photos, create a gallery for stuff you want to share and share that with people. That will allow you to share with higher quality, but doesn't have the convenience of being integrated with message threads. As with anything, there's a trade-off between quality and convenience in these things.

I have been getting ' no connection" or similar on my Android 12 phone for several months, while all other apps work perfectly in the same place at 5G speeds.

. This included Weather (Google), Maps & Maps Timeline, the Google app and several other services, plus the Google account Avatar changed to my default first name initial rather than the pseudonym thingy I changed to for YT comments etc.

More than likely not connected to your issue, but it is a phenomenon!

I had just a dvd case, many years before my brother in law got me one, and it was too weird to assemble it too, I just stowed it away, I want to take it to a shop and just give it to someone for free. Never been used at all either...

so if you switch accounts all of your purchase on your current main account will not transfer over. because they are two different accounts.

I would recommend going forward that you use google photo's. it backs everything to the cloud and i never have to worry about my photos or videos. i can even buy a new phone and all i have to do is sign in and i have my photos back again.....granted if i want them physically i would have to download them one by one. but i have a goood data plan with decent coverage so my phone always have been able to connect to the cloud to view the photos.

what phone do you have?
