Wechat QR code scan

I want to login to a game with wechat, can you help me for that ?
did you not read his post????
To err on the safe side, I'm now only doing WeChat account verification QR scans for users I've seen and know in person. As I don't wish to assist anyone who may have got banned from WeChat for spamming, or illegal activities, etc, as that might put my own WeChat usage at risk. That's how it is.

I am aware there's a black market for paid WeChat verification QR scanning...Good Luck!

If anyone just needs a general purpose messaging and calling app, I recommend Telegram or Signal, but those are not available in China(unless using a VPN).

Why do youtubers hide or censor out applying thermal paste

"I'm gonna use the perfect amount of thermal paste" proceeds to edit part of video out or move camera
--Tronicsfix

"oops, gonna need to put thermal paste on that [moves camera where the user can't see the process]"
--Adrian's Digital Basement.

The term "the perfect amount of thermal paste" line is also used across the board, always hiding/censoring or making a joke about people seeing the process each time. Is there a joke/meme I'm missing or what? I don't understand. What if I am interested in building a PC and would like to see the process? I hate being out of the loop here.
Because the internet loves to argue, and every redditor and their dog would flood the comments about how you're using the wrong amount. Even on Reddit, such images always generate floods of comments about how someone used too much, too little, didn't apply it right, and it happens with stunning and sobering regularity. Even when other channels have shown that barring something especially conductive being used and bridging vulnerable points on a given device, one can go ham and it would run fine. Ultimately, it's about having enough to fill in the micro-gaps between the component generating heat (cpu/gpu/etc) and the contact of the cooler.

How to stop Google Maps from showing the Media Playback Controls if the setting to turn it off is not where the help documents say it is

If the problem is not solved still, you can try this. Disable Media Playback Controls on Google Maps for Android version 13 on your phone.
  1. Open Google Maps.
  2. Tap your profile picture in the top right.
  3. Go to "Settings."
  4. Navigate to "Navigation settings."
  5. Look for "Media Playback Controls" or a similar option.
If the setting isn't there, it's possible that the feature is not available on your specific Android version or device model. You may want to check for app updates or contact Google Support for device-specific assistance.
Right, the problem is it's not there. But the feature is enabled, because I have the media controls. The problem is I can't turn it off!

How to add to sharing options, send to my mail?

Did you not follow my steps from previous?

If you aren't doing this correctly then I can't help you
As I mentioned in my recent post, there is no option in the share option to send a link to the article directly to my email account, although based on a weird algorithm, some of my contacts' email accounts which I recently sent email are showing up there. My email account is not there, however.

Please post here a picture with your Google news share option with your blurred email.

Anyone experienced the Octo trojan?

Those are all browser redirects, no malware or octo whatever. Start using a good ad blocker that will stop these from popping up and you'll be fine.
Personally I use Adguard, which is not in the play store but is 100 percent safe and I've been using it for years without ever an issue. Get it here :
Can be installed on all OS, Android, IOS and computers

Facebook ad on my phone's opening screen

I have an ad on my phone's opening screen that says "Facebook. Find friends and see what's new". To be clear, this is the screen that appears when I turn on the device and before I enter the PIN to access the phone.

I used my desktop computer to make a facebook account several years ago to find a friend from my remote past. Couldn't find that person so closed the account and haven't accessed the account in several years and have never accessed it on any phone I have ever owned.
  • Why am I getting this ad?
  • How do remove it and prevent it in the future?
I think you're referring to this notification, which I also got on some of my phones:
Screenshot_20231118-172959_One_UI_Home.jpg

Basically, it is an "ad" sent from the Facebook app itself that's installed on your phone (often as pre-loaded, or "bloatware" since that's what people loves to call those as) when there are no accounts being signed into. Holding on that notification shows this:
Screenshot_20231118-173346_Gallery.jpg

The easy way to stop that ad from coming is to turn that notification category off, or disable the app (I assume that it came pre-loaded on your phone and can't be uninstalled) if you don't plan to use it.

(I also apologize for replying to this old post here, but seeing how incredibly stupid that yadic guy was, I just had to do it.)

AntiVirus blocking install

Malware, trojans, etc. but never a virus.
I think you misunderstand the "virus" part of "anti-virus". It's true that, strictly speaking, trojan horses (for example) are not viruses. But the "virus" in "anti-virus" does not use the strict meaning of the term! "Virus", in-context, simply means "malicious software". Malicious software are trojan horses, classic viruses, etc.

That, or I'm missing something here.

Hey, remember me?

I hate the changes too, I'm the curmudgeon who just wants someone to pick a theme and LEAVE IT ALONE.

Not everything has to change all the time. I'd personally be happy in the 1950s. I certainly don't look forward to the future anymore since it's looking more like Oblivion or Black Mirror than the once nature-inspired utopia that the Frutiger Aero era led me to hope for.

Many have forgotten the adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it' and instead are trying to fix it until it's broke. Once, the site was offline for anyone except those who relied on a 2010 browser to view it. Sorta ironic. Everyone forgot what happened to Oldsmobile when they tried to rebrand to fit a more 'younger' type, with the launch of the Achieva, Alero and so on, and it EOL'd them. Sometimes it's best to keep catering to those who got you to the top vs. catering to the lowest common denominator which only results in a homogenized world.

Yes, I think we were far better off when we had BlackBerry, WebOS, Meego, Maemo, Symbian, Android (2.x), iOS (6-and below), and others. Today it's literally Apple or Android, talk about 'the illusion of choice'. Both are pretty crap today, copypastas of each other. Competition breeds innovation, while homogenization breeds stagnation. Nothing has fundamentally changed since 2013, and now everything is just a solution in search of a problem instead of a real benefit.

BUG: "currently unable to send your message. It will be sent automatically when service is available"

This was happening with Android 12 on the S20 FE I had two years ago too. It's a One UI thing across the board.

But if it were possible to root and put Android 2.3 on this thing, I would have by now. I hate modern Android and went out of my way to skin it to look like Android 2.3 and Sense 3.x, with TouchWiz notifications/ringtones.

Help Note 8 - no audio when connecting phone to TV via HDMI cable

Thanks. I'll think about it. I don't live in the US so unfortuantely can't make use of the phenomenal deals you guys get on tech. The latest Chromecast is around $55 here. I see a lot of "3rd Gen" ones listed that are much more affordable - could I go fr one of these?
i still have my 3rd gen running on one of my tvs with no issues.

Can't attach file with Files and Media: Media permission

I've checked that I've got the latest version of Proton Mail. I've also tried the new beta version (recommended by support team), but the issue persists. BTW I'm on Android 11 (that's max for my Redmi 10).

EDIT: Support team asked me to check the latest beta version. Turned out that this issue will be SOLVED in the upcoming version. I was worried this is something bigger, because I'm having issues with using local files in apps as well as saving files from apps to local storage. Looks like many apps have similar bugs.

The AI-Pin...a look into the future of wearable (integrated?) tech

I was thinking of a combadge as well, although that product already exists, in a bluetooth form, along with a TOS communicator. I used to get people doing double takes when I used that communicator as a 'phone,' especially if it went 'boop boop' indicating incoming call, and I flipped it out and started using it.

If it involves surgery though, no thanks. I don't like the idea of humans being even more disconnected from nature or more robotic. The whole cyberpunk thing disturbs me, as I'm more wanting to return to the 1950s way of life. Every time I watch The Andy Griffith Show I keep saying "I would be happy in Mayberry" I think we lost a lot with the dependence on internet, smartphones, and how cold and sterile towns look today with all the overly white LED streetlighting, and Times Square style digital billboards.

I would just be a lot happier if there were some way I could find one slice of city where time stopped after 1960. Shop there exclusively, then return to my already time-capsule home. Of course, any illusion is ruined the instant someone whips out a smartphone and starts a'scrollin'

What app icon is this

It isn't the exact same icon, but it does remind me a bit of Samsung's Device Care before it got redesigned. We're talking say, the Android 8.x era, before Samsung Experience got replaced by One UI.

Given the obvious pedometer icon next to it, however, leads me to believe it's a health app connected to say, a smartwatch, as often if there's a watch or 'smartphone' icon inside the main icon, it's often involving connecting to something. Or connected to something, like a heart rate monitor or ECG that uses bluetooth and phone app.

"Fully charged in 8 hours"

USB-C is garbage. I had many times this happening, even with flagship phones with the cable supplied, and it either shows 'charging slowly' and gives extremely long times, or worse, the percentage drops after it climbs a bit, but phone continues to show that it 'charging'. If I don't catch it, I wake up to either a completely dead phone, or it having charge around 18% or less, only then it shows 'charging slowly, unknown time remaining'.

It's a USB-C thing. We were fine with Micro USB, nobody asked for it to needlessly change. If your phone supports wireless charging, I suggest using that, as that's what I do. I'm sick of plugging things in twice for it to even start charging, and hate it most when it fakes me out and is dead the next day. I never had any issues charging my Galaxy S4. Or HTC Thunderbolt. Or any other Micro USB device.

You can chase the issue and waste a lot of money on third-party USB-C cables and fail like I did, or use wireless charging. I find the latter more reliable. I am convinced that USB-C is what is making my Android Auto bug out and think there is no signal when there is as well.

Samsung A52 5G clanging loud. Why?

Amber Alerts don't make clangs, they make the exact same sound as a tornado warning which threw me off so often I disabled them. I'm not going to pretend I'm Batman at 2AM chasing some rando SUV that looks identical to every other SUV out there, especially if the warning is from three states away. Seriously they need to fix this crap. Or go back to photos on milk cartons.

I mean seriously what are you supposed to do? Chase the criminal down and hope it doesn't escalate to murder? I mean we have cops for a reason.

My 6 year old 55" Samsung LED died. Replacement?

As far as LCD flat panels go, the older ones from circa 2009-10 were a lot better made, with matte displays, no easily obsolete 'smart' apps, which you could just as easily use a Roku for and have better support, and with CCFL backlighting that not only has better colours and blacks, but lasts longer than the infamous Samsung LED strips that short or die causing a myriad problems. Used flat panel TVs from that era are super cheap secondhand, ranging from $20-60 for a 37" set, but I've seen some around 45" going for $10 at Goodwill.

I don't know why Plasmas are extinct. Never seen one used anywhere, and nobody owns one. The only one I remember was a 55" Pioneer my stepdad had that weighed a ton, but had a picture that would rival OLED. He purchased it new around 2007 or 2008, and it's still running fine at a family member of his that he gave it to. Wish I took the offer for it when he asked me, but at the time I lived in a trailer that you'd never get a 55" through the door much less fit anywhere.

I got turned off of Samsung TVs after hearing how they place capacitors of dubious brands near very hot heatsinks, almost like they expect them to dry out.

That said, I am using CRTs this day and age. Probably will outlive me, and since most content I watch is SD or black and white, I ain't missing much. Interested in how Babylon 5 looks on a CRT, being period correct time frame. It looked unwatchable (especially the CGI) on anything LCD.

The PGA and LIV debacle

You might well be correct. I don't know his political feelings towards the Saudis but I know he loves the game of golf as we know it and has no desire to see that changed. I have no idea what will result from the merger. I'm betting there will be compromises by both leagues to form a union. That will definitely make major changes to the game we are accustomed to. Will the changes enhance the game of golf and its exposure to the public? Will there be new avenues for young golf pros to enter the elite arena?
Will there be better dispersal of winning funds so that new players have a chance to play without having deep pockets?

I think there is room for improvement for the game the PGA has in place. As it is, you might be very good but not make the cut to play for the big bucks. Players are forced to fund their expense to travel and play. Not making the cut for the bucks they go home after spending a lot of money for not. Though they have a great game, they simply can't afford to donate to the PGA in an effort to break into the big time.
Dress code is another issue but I can't see it being a big deal. I'm not even good enough to call myself an average golfer but I have golf clothes that meet the standards of all courses.
Game format might well be changed. LIV is playing a shotgun start where the PGA puts the elite players teeing off last on hole #1 so that they are the last to finish. I can't see changing to a shotgun start being a big factor for all of the golfers are well schooled on each hole. Starting on hole thirteen and ending your round on hole twelve can't be a huge deal. All of the tournaments I played in were shotgun start.
Purse is another factor of consideration. Most if not all PGA tournaments have prize monies and contributions to different organizations. Some goes into the PGA pocket. I don't think LIV is getting into the game for kicks. They expect some return for their money. The dispersal of funds will be real interesting.

I'm sure there will be major changes to the game as we know it. Players might even be paid a salary to play like most professional sports with a contract. The PGA is now in bed with LIV so I'm sure we are in for some major changes that did not sit well with Rory.
