On-body detection issue

I normally have my phone on a belt clip. It's been a long time since I carried my phone in my pocket. I do remember it made a difference if I had the screen pointing towards my body I would get open pages when I pulled it out. If I turned the phone 180 degrees so the screen was point away from my body it would be fine.

Don't know if you have tried that yet or if that will make any difference for you.

Samsung s23 contacts problem

I'm just trying to make sense of where this is behavior being generated. I purposely don't sync my contacts.

I don't see how Assistant could be related. All it does it display a choice of contacts for me to select. That's where it's job ends. I select the contact, and the Samsung app dials it.

I deleted all the related contacts, and remade them with only the prefixed number.

Windows 11

So I clicked on the news icon. lower lefthand corner on the Windows 11 Taskbar. I clicked on a news link and the browser freezes up with this message. On my phone I Googles the phone number 888-262-7152 and came up with nothing, so I figured it must not be Microsoft Support. It took me a while get the browser to close. Rebooted and ran a McAfee scan and came up with nothing. Any suggestions?

Nox Security

Isn't Samsung's Knox the one that's supposed to mess with people's ability to root? I think it voids the warranty if they do.
You can root a phone with Knox (US Samsungs with their encrypted bootloaders and no unlock option are harder, but that's not Knox). And yes, it will leave a permanent indication that the phone software has been fiddled with, which the carrier or manufacturer may use to withhold warranty support. But to be fair it's not the only way that they can tell, just that it's impossible to reset while other tells can be with more or less effort (though whether you are able to undo any indicator that you've modified the phone will depend on why you need to use the warranty...).

File Cleaner

Like @ocnbrze I am generally opposed to cleaner apps: they're usually more malware than anything useful, and there's very little for them to actually do.

Besides the risk of the app collecting your data and sending it home to someone, having additional storage available isn't making your phone run any better or faster. Imagine having a huge walk-in closet but you only need one small section for your entire wardrobe. What good would it do for you to install shelves to hold even more... or even knock out a wall to make it bigger? It's unused capacity - the key word being "unused".

The system cache is actually making your phone work better and faster by storing much of your phone's most commonly-used data for quick access. Generally, the only time I would recommend someone go into Android Recovery to wipe cache is after a major OS upgrade (from Android 12 to 13, for example) or if the phone is behaving erratically. Otherwise, an occasional restart of the phone is enough to get it working well again.

Google Gemini

Is this the thing where they've just had to restrict its image generation because it was committing such faux pas as depicting ethnically diverse Nazi stormtroopers?
yep:

"Charging Connected Device Via USB" Notification won't go away

Anecdotes. Micro USB always worked for me. Why can't we have choices anymore instead of the 'illusion of choice'? Somehow USB-C didn't just become a way, it became the only way, no thanks to the E.U. who shouldn't even have any jurisdiction in the U.S.

Artificial scarcity sucks. We should also have WebOS and other OSs too. There is plenty of room for options, choices and competition, just as there was plenty of room for 2G, 3G, 4G/LTE as well as 5G and VoLTE. Let people have variety again!
