Personally I'm not a fan of adding an anti-virus/anti-malware app to an Android phone, perhaps when there's an actual need but otherwise it is just using up system resources. The Android platform is not comparable at all with Windows in this aspect.

But getting back to OP's original posting, @nickdalzell brought up a good point. It might be just a matter of waiting a few more days or weeks.
Otherwise, I'd recommend the AccuBattery app:

It displays a lot battery and power stats in more detail than the Settings menu itself. (A typical Android install shows the most common stats most consumers need, The AccuBattery utility is a lot more expansive and informative. It's for users who want more power usage info.) Also a plus point, it is just detecting and analyzing existing data, unlike some other more dodgy 'make your battery last longer' apps that try to their own power curves, interfering with the default Android power usage already implemented. Also note that you'll need to wait a bit for AccuBattery to access your phone's power usage.

How to disable fingerprint sensor from waking up screen?

I'm tentatively going to recommend you reset your own expectations about your phone's fingerprint lock screen -- currently you're seeing it as an annoyance but you might be a lot better off having it enabled as a fundamental privacy measure.
Or if a fingerprint isn't your preference, at least keep some kind of lock-screen option (i.e. pattern, password, etc.)
Unless you never take your phone out of your home and you live alone, a lock screen is basic protection from others to just pick up your phone and have full, unfettered access to your data. Also, note some apps like financial services, won't allow you to use them without a lock screen enabled.

Otherwise, you should be able to just go into your phone's Settings menu and delete your saved fingerprint(s). There is no such thing as a default fingerprint that's can be in place with any Android install. At some point you added your particular fingerprint(s) when you first set up your phone. Open up Settings, and in the upper screen use its search feature to find 'lock screen' to find which menu to use.
A more drastic measure that might be possible with your Redmi phone is to disable a lock screen completely. You need to enable Developer Options and if there's a ''Do not use Lock screen' option. Don't be surprised if that option isn't there (or something with a similar name), it's option list varies by manufacturer and Android version number. The Developer Options is integral with any Android firmware, it's just typically not visible by default. Be very judicious about any changes you make, you can easily make part of the functionality of your phone, That's why it needs to intentionally made visible by the user.

But my previous phone was a Pixel (non-carrier) which also just had "mobile data" and "WiFi", and while I used custom ROMs with my phones before that, whether they were based on manufacturer software or AOSP there was still never a "non-carrier data" section.

We have actually got it sorted now. I uninstalled, and after the install I realised Whatsapp still appeared in the list of apps in Settings so I uninstalled again and this time it said something about a shell. After this it did vanish from the list. I then turned the phone off and re-started it, which I hadn't done previously.

After re-installing from Play Store I ran it and filled in the phone number after which it offered two options for verification. One appeared to be to allow Whatsapp to make a missed phone call and check the phone log to see if it was successful. The other was to use a code supplied via SMS. I chose the SMS method and this ended up in exactly the same impasse as previously, back in a loop from which I couldn't escape, so I uninstalled and reinstalled for a third time, chose the other option and this time it worked!!

Incidentally it turned out the icon was in the Apps Drawer - it was on the third page. It hadn't occurred to me there was more than one, even though the three dots were clearly visible at the bottom of the page. I feel a complete fool now Doh!!

you might want to look into samsung. samsung's smart switch works great on backing up and restoring their phones. every time i upgrade, i use smart switch and it is almost like my new phone is my old phone. there are some things that do not get backed up, but its pretty minute and does not take long to get the new phone up to speed. it does take a while to restore a back up on the new phone.

so something to think about when you plan on upgrading your phone though.

You can use a local account without issue. I have Win11 on my personal laptop and use a local account. It's buried in the settings, but the option is there.

I don't like Win11, but for reasons such as that the entire UI is just not my thing.

-All three are about the expansion through america's wilderness and native american lands. The author studied letters, diaries, newspapers, gvt. records, etc. of the time and compiled it into a narrative.

"Band of Brothers" by Stephen Ambrose
-You may have seen the HBO miniseries. It follows Easy Company, 506th PIR of the 101st Airborne from boot camp to VE day in World War Two.

"20,000 Miles South" by Frank and Helen Schreider
-Another nonfiction.. a couple in the early fifties who take an old WW2 army jeep, fabricate it into an amphibious vehicle, and drive it from alaska all the way down to the southernmost tip of south america. Pretty amazing story.

"The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon" by David Grann
-Another true story of Col. Percy Fawcett, a famous explorer in the 20s who was obsessed with finding the lost city of El Dorado (city of gold) in the amazon.. he ends up dissapearing. Over the years following over a hundred people go in search of him and never return.

"The Ice Master: The Doomed 1913 Voyage of the Karluk" - nonfiction narrative describing Vilhjalmur Stefansson's 1913-1914 attempt to reach the north pole. The ship gets stuck in ice. Stefansson leaves on a hunting expidition across the ice and doesn't return. Captain Robert Bartlett takes leadership and they all travel across the ice to "wrangel island" a rocky little island in the arctic. Eventually Capt. Bartlett and one of the Inuit guides take a small party of sled dogs and make it to alaska to send for releif. Keep in mind the temperatures range around 0 to -50 degrees (that's right NEGATIVE 50) and for a few MONTHS it is completely dark 24/7. It was over a year from the time the ship got stuck in the ice to the time the crew was rescued, 11 people died either in the journey over the ice or when they were stranded on the island.

I bought a Unihertz TikTok E in their sale for $109 US as a temporary phone. it's fine for a cheap phone, the specs seem genuine, the camera is 48MP (verified in Camera FV5 and open camera.) Bluetooth is fine with headphones and car stereo, WiFi in the house is also OK. the only downside is poor battery life (Just about a day with heavy use, maybe 2 days very light use. The gimmick is a small round screen on the back that can be a clock, or answer calls, or some other things. I wouldn't trust it long term though.

Naturally, the outdoor camera I want is discontinued. They have three wireless offerings and I'm not fond of any of them. One is not a great night camera, one has a flood light that comes on when the camera is activated, and the third an alarm. Their price for a NVR that will do 8 wireless cameras with a 4TB drive, two 4K wireless inside and two 4K wireless outside cameras with shipping and tax $453.99 No subscription. I don't know if that's reasonable or over priced. I hoped to spend less that five bills. I have an Ethernet cable and HDMI cable so I should need nothing but the time to set it all up and marry all the devices together.
