I was told that VoIP wouldn't work or maybe wouldn't work seamlessly. I'm trying to find out if this is true or would Duo and Voice as default dialer and Google's visual voicemail solve both your issue and my question?

So I can't change the default dialer from Samsung at all. So even with the unlocked I don't think you could use Duo as the default. Though for video it does use Duo.

You don't have to wear mask on the beach, actually. Probably on the boardwalk?

Printing from Android is going to be a conditional matter, just like with any Windows, Mac, or Linux desktop. If the manufacturer of the printer itself doesn't provide a valid, working driver for their product, the odds it will work with whatever device you have will be a hit-or-miss issue -- i.e. a lot of older HP laser printers will work with using a generic PostScript driver (although just being able to print might not apply to specific features like duplex printing). But most printers are very proprietary and functionally work of off restricted firmware. So even if you can get your Android device to detect your printer, that doesn't necessarily mean it will be able to print from it, things are all based on the printer model and if there's an appropriate driver (and note that with Android the driver/firmware is typically within an app, it's not like you can manually install a driver like with a desktop OS).

Is it such an insurmountable task to figure out what changed pertaining to the rear facing camera between CM11 and CM12?

Thanks for your suggestion but this worked fine on my old phone. I just moved from an LG G7 ThinQ in the last week and it worked fine with that!

Hi folks

I have managed to improve the situation by Archiving a lot of my Google Photos to my PC. I noticed that Google Photos was using nearly 1GB of memory. Deleted a couple of Apps that I don't need and cleared a lot of cached files. My Internal memory is now down to around 14GB.

Thanks for all your advice

Nice, right?! I love reminiscing, and I also love thread drift--it's more like talking in real life.

300 baud? That predates my first modem, a 2400 baud sucker that, when used to connect to the server in my office at work [via Wyse 60 terminal], spit out lines character by character. It was tantamount to watching grass grow. Aw, the good old days! (I do actually remember that time very fondly.)

Had to do this, pulled out a few blasts from the past

I find assistant helpful and accurate. I know that data is being collected and ads are being served based on my activity and location. I'm okay with that. I'm also fine with anyone who isn't. I truly believe that privacy on the internet is an illusion and that both carriers and platforms act without concern for their subscribers ... at least as far as laws and good business practices will allow.

That said, I also tend to trust Google to be more diligent in protecting my personal information as it is their life's blood -- the control of the information and the trust of their subscribers. As soon as either are lost, their financial paradigm is compromised. It is a rather cynical and mercenary viewpoint, but one that I believe drives most corporations.

In the end, it is not me restricting access my information as much as it me deciding who has access to the information that is already being collected.

Personally, I hope this never becomes a default feature even it is possible (don't think it is). Being forced to listen to multiple phones auto-read text and/or email messages out loud, even with social distancing in public spaces, would be quite annoying. It's bad enough now that it's acceptable to have listen to other people carry on long conversations over their phones in public (often yelling into them to compensate for the already existing background noise).

On Samsung phones it's under your dialer's settings. Open the phone dialer and tap the three dots to get to settings. You'll find it under "supplementary services". If it's not there, then you don't have that enabled. It should then go directly to voicemail, but as @Hadron noted, it's under the control of your carrier, not the phone.

I agree with @tommo47 You already have the capability to manage your microSD cards in your Settings >> Storage menu. It works at a system-level, third-party file managers do not (well unless you've rooted your device and use a root-specific file manager app). Use a file manager app to manage files and folders, use the already existing Android function to manage volumes.

And keep in mind when using non-native utilities, like Windows Disk Management, it's optimized for Windows. Any support for other operating system issues like disk block defaults, file/folder attributes, file metadata will be incidental at best. Use Android's included tools to manage media storage for optimal, reliable usage.

Look in the settings menu of whichever file manager app you're using and look for any Storage Access Framework options.

That's what we all have to take into account since KitKat days. Soon to be supplanted by Scoped Storage

As you know that factory reset does not delete the data permanently form phone, so in this situation, what to do and how to delete files becomes a headache for users. However, there is nothing to worry as you still have the best option to wipe Android data completely. I would suggest you to use a powerful recovery software like Android Data Eraser. This is a professional tool that easily deletes data from phone without recovery option.

So is it a tool for erasing data or recovering data, or is it both, or is it snake-oil?

I know that you have alreadg found an alternative, but have you ever heard of Degoo?

100GB of free storage is the starting plan.

How to keep it? Log in once a month.

I have had a free account since late Feb and it seems to work fine.

There are multiple larger account options, but 100GB for free is a very nice upgrade from Drive's 15GB for free.

Always looking for altneratives for DB.

Instead of uninstalling apps you don't want, disable them instead, and then see how that works out. You can remove the ones that don't affect the stability of your device later once you determine which ones you need to leave as is.

Actually I did not receive an email for your above post, so as I continue to receive further emails they may be confined to posts in the Forum Games, Off Topic and Funny threads. I'm not sure atm. I vaguely remember something about this before.
I'll keep an eye on the Android Help and other sections I venture in to at times. I may just get browser notifications for new posts on those, which is what I want.

(I'm off to bed)

i think most phones will have this capabilities. it will be up to the provider of service to offer it or not according to their cellular plans.

Just wondering it you have given the Your Phone Companion a go and if it did what you needed?

I've actually been uising it loads. Find a funny link on PC bring phone screen up on PC and control with mouse, start text/whatsap/whatever, paste link from PC.
