when you've successfully compiled an app, you can run it in the emulator, which you may have to download and install separately, It integrate with Android Studio and you can run your app on it from within Android Studio. The emulator gives you a choice of emulated devices including a variety of phones and tablets with varying screen sizes and resolutions.

You have to take their word. But as noted their connection to a leading android news site means that they can't afford to be caught lying.

I suggest you only install stuff from the Play Store if you are this worried. Though you have to take their word about their tests, so perhaps better not to install apps at all.

ok so i just got stadia installed and have been playing for a few days now. i purchased all three of the latest Tomb Raider games along with Destiny 2, Samurai Showdown, and Final Fantasy XV.

so far i have been only playing the Tomb Raider game and it is just like playing a console game. it is hard to believe that i'm playing a game through just the chromecast ultra!!!!!

i think i might play final fantasy just to see what that is like.

i also need to figure out how to use the stadia controller on my pixelbook. i think i just need a type c to usb dongle and hook the controller via usb. unfortunately playing stadia thru the web browser will not work wirelessly just yet.

i do kind of wish that prices for the games were a tad cheaper.

Presumably the Android Police were on top of the case, and they arrested those concerned, as well as removing the Barclays banking app with phishing tool attached from APKmirror.

I think when it comes to apps, especially financial apps, only install from their official sources.

There are two apps that I use to give me some piece of mind.

They are:

PilferShush (F-Droid)- which keeps other apps from using the microphone

Pandroid Camera (APK Pure)- which sets up a user controlled device administrator privlege on the device, which is accessible via a quick tile.

i dont use crackbook aka facebook ,, but I use Outlook and I have no issue with notifications in nova.

if you used the stock launcher and you did not see the notifications, you are missing a step either on nova or the app itself.

again its going to be hit or miss help over the internet since we cant see your phone but showing photos of your notification settings will be helpful.

No, I am not on Beta firmware. I am using the system as purchased, with a security push update. Android 9.
I did not back up this phone.
Yes, Moto Z was the last phone used.
The Note 10+ is new, Verizon.

I still have Tesla Unread, which had transferred from the Moto Z. This morning I went in and selected the apps to receive notifications in Tesla Unread and selected Tesla Unread badges in Nova. I was happy to see the badges showing up on the apps until I started receiving messages that Tesla Unread had stopped. So I I'm afraid to use that.

I do get badges for MySMS (text message app), as well as for the phone and voicemail, which are the most important really. I think I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling the Facebook app and see whether that resets it. I've been tweaking the settings so much I've probably turned something off.

Can you confirm which variant of the P30 you've got there? ELE-L09 is single SIM, and ELE-L29 is dual-SIM, where the SIM2 space takes a SIM or a micro-SD memory card. There are NO workarounds.

Well let's rephrase the question: "how can you tell that any software is safe?". There's nothing special about apk files in this respect.
I can think of a few ways:

If you have the source code you can analyse it yourself (if you have the knowledge, which your average user does not). But most apps are closed source.
If you have the md5 checksum for a known safe copy of that apk you can check whether the copy you have matches. But that will rarely be the case.
You can use security software that will scan the app before install for known malware signatures (many security apps can do this). But it will only pick up known malware, and all of these things produce false positives at times.
Or if you have the time you can install an app on a test device and check, over a period of time, whether any bad behaviour results. Obviously you should only test one app at a time on a particular test device. Not really practical.

This is why for most people the most practical solution is to only download from a trusted source. You can use an anti-malware app to scan first if you want a second reassurance, but as noted these things can never be perfect.

(I won't call them "anti-virus" because android malware isn't of the virus type, and I prefer to use technical terms accurately).

Hi, I recently purchased a P30 which I bought thinking it was dual sim. The phone has a dual sim slot but only one slot is for the Sim. The other being for a memory card. I wondered if there was a workaround/hack to convert the phone to dual. Any help appreciated. Cheers Dave

We have our missing link! Thanks alot everyone, especially mikedt! I do restart the phone quite often because I use Orbot and it tends to crash sometimes. I probably restarted it myself before going out of the room to cook and forgot by the time I came back. I also seldom pay attention to the notes about updating because I find it exhausting being asked all the time so I usually press Later before even a second has passed. Once again thx for all the help!

The bizarre thing I should have mentioned is that some K9s work fine whilst others display the error message (we have multiple devices being used in this way).

I've visited that linked support site before posting here... it's not really much good for trouble shooting... more a 'how to' resource.

Most carriers have set their own arbitrary limits with group texting to reduce the spamming problem. Apparently AT&T limits the number to 10.

Bummer it was stolen. Have you contacted your carrier and cancelled the account that phone was using? Notifying your carrier about your situation should also result in that phone's IMEI blacklisted, making things a lot harder for whomever stole it to get their own cellular service working on it.
