Offline website on Android

Hi there,
Is there anyone out there that maybe can help me with issues concerning opening an offline website on my tablet.
Thanks for replies.
Andy
can you be more specific? what issues are you having? what browser are you using? Is there a specific website you want to view offline? what exactly are you trying to do?

just remember that the more details you give us the better we can help.

Status bar icon identify

For anyone who has strange icons up top, just swipe down and see what the notification reads. I'll bet it's some type of spam notification about 'hot girls now!' or 'Free iPad! Claim yours!'.

FYI, NEVER click on them or give any data to them. This is an old type of scam I was familar with during Android 2.3's heyday, called 'AirPush spam'. The scams took many forms, heart, star, or various other random symbols posing as notifications. Almost always from an app from the likes of Cheetah Mobile. Uninstall any RAM cleaners, battery savers, and 'CPU Cooler' apps. They're useless.

Booting Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 Without SIM Card?

You can indeed boot an S4 (and many old Android phones) without a SIM. You'll get the 'No SIM' error alert and a persistent notification but it will work on Wifi if needed. It basically becomes a Galaxy Player. FYI You can get rid of the 'no SIM' notification by using Airplane Mode and using Wifi.

I've got an unlocked S4 Mini (but it's still branded Verizon) and a T-Mobile SIM will give bars, but zero data. I never tested calls or SMS but I do remember only getting bars, and under the status it showed 'not in service' and 'mobile network state disconnected' and 'mobile network type unknown'.

The only phones I remembered that would absolutely refuse to boot without a SIM were really, really old J2ME dumbphones I called 'Smartphone wannabes' since they had touchscreens and apps but were not true smartphones. Some of them required a SIM to get to a usable home screen or just ended in an error.

Providence Journal

what you have is called adware. it probably came from a recent app that was installed. if you put the phone in safe mode, you can find out if this true or not. safe mode prevents 3rd party apps from running. if the issue goes away, than you know an app is the cause of this.

https://www.hardreset.info/devices/motorola/motorola-moto-g-play-2021/safe-mode/

i would then go over your most recent apps and unistall them the best practice is to first find the app in your app manager. then you will need to wipe cache and data for the app. after the wipe, then you can uninstall the app. sometimes the app will leave the adware in cache and data which sometime will not get erased after uninstalling the app.....so do it first.

Phone app call display problems

When did it start? Because incoming call as a little notification when the display is on is exactly what my Galaxy s21 (Android 12) does, so I expect this is standard.

If I look in my phone app's settings I have an option "call display while using apps" (Google might give it a different name - Samsung like to rename things). This controls how incoming calls appear when you are using other apps, and has options "full screen" (what you want), "small pop-up" (default) and "mini pop-up" (even smaller). So have a look and see whether you have similar options.

I've never met the thing about the in-call UI disappearing. Are you sure you aren't touching something that moves you away from it? Though I'd expect the recent apps navigation to get you back to it in that case, so don't really know what this is about.

Redmi note 10 JE wont turn on WIFI automatically.

Hello all,

I have a Redmi note 10 JE phone running Android 12 SKQ1.210821.001

My problem is that the WiFi will turn off automatically but wont turn on automatically. Turn on WIFI automatically is already turned on. Sometimes I forget to turn the WIFI on manually and unintentionally use my mobile internet, which is annoying and could cost me money.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? Or is there a way to stop WIFI automatically turning off.

Thank you.

Does Samsung Kies Backup Android Application State?

Hahaa! Same here man!!! :) LOL... I remember that full weekend of talking with a few friends of mine about it lol...... :) I think my hard drive quit after that, possibly I also got a new one due to Odin lol.

I didn't kill anything with Odin. But within a few weeks of buying the Galaxy S, I did discover the joys of rooting, ClockworkMod, and CyanogenMod. :)

The Galaxy S4 reminds of a trip I took to Hong Kong in July 2013, where I bought an S4 at the Sincere House Tech Mall in Mong Kok for a friend, because it was the latest thing at the time, and wasn't available in mainland China.

How to tell if Pixel 3a battery is aging out

I have been running the phone on Battery Saver for a while and the battery has performed well in that mode. I discovered, though, that this was wrecked my real time Google Maps timeline feature (most of the time, doesn't work at all or is completely inaccurate) and I rely on that for quite a lot of things so I'm switching it off and keeping only Dark Theme, will see how the battery performs with that energy saver only in place.

If I root a Samsung without a computer(using no computer root method) will I receive Software Update

Are you sure that you can only root Samsung S20 Ultra with computer? Does that only apply to S20 ultra or all android? Im not saying you guys are wrong, Is just that I read so many things online if you google root without computer a milion results and guides come out. Sorry if this is stupid question.
The problem is that the internet is a great repository of information, but it's also a great repository of out of date information, or plain clickbait, deliberate misinformation or information that the person posting it hasn't checked. But any site that tells you that King Root or Kingo Root will root an s20 Ultra is pushing misinformation. That may just be because to generate clicks they automatically recycle the same stuff they wrote years ago with newer device names, without caring whether it's right or not - I can only speculate as to why they would post such stuff. But those one-click-root apps have not worked for years.

So yes, prior to Android 6 all of this stuff worked. You may find some more recent devices where such exploits still work - Chinese "fake" phones often use old Android versions that have been reprogrammed to pretend to be newer (seriously!), so they would still have the necessary vulnerabilities. But an s20 Ultra? No chance. In fact any even reasonably modern android will need a computer. Even with an older device, if you still hope to be able to use things like banking, payment apps or many media apps, I would avoid a non-computer method: the root methods that are best at hiding root very definitely rely on a computer (indeed if you are thinking of rooting I would first check whether any individual apps that you care about still work after root: don't rely on some statement like "this Magisk module hides root", check whether it allows that specific app to run).

One thing you've not said is what type of s20 Ultra you have? If it's a North American Snapdragon-based model then the question isn't whether a non-computer method can work but whether it can be rooted at all: recent Snapdragon-based Samsungs are very hard indeed to root, in many cases impossible. If it's a Exynos-based model (as sold in much of the world) then you have a better chance, e.g. my s21 has an official bootloader unlock method, which a Snapdragon-based one would not have.

Play alarm only through Bluetooth headphones, not phone speaker

Can you go into Sound and Vibrations and adjust the volume level for notifications?
Yes, absolutely. But Sleep as Android just automatically maxes out the alarm volume when the alarm goes off, despite whatever phone alarm volume I have it set at. Setting the phone alarm doesn't stay where I set it because the app hijacks it and maxes it out to full volume.

Help please! :-)

How to I change to a new primary account?

Possibly because SMS Backup+ backs up to your GMail account, which you say Google has "killed" (though I'm not sure precisely what you mean by that, or why they did this).

There are other SMS backup apps that create a local backup rather than backing it up to an Google account (e.g. the venerable SMS Backup & Restore). Of course if you are worried that removing the primary account will wipe everything then you should copy a local backup to another device before doing removing it.

Identify an app icon

I hope I'm not the only one who had struggled for years identifying the Snapchat icon (what's the pacman ghost icon supposed to mean?). I used to see it on ads and billboards and feel like such a moron today. I also didn't know what the 'mickey mouse shorts' icon was supposed to be for a long time as well (the Discord app)

Galaxy s9 Filename Issues

What do you mean by "close it"? And what app are you "navigating to a folder" with? The only launcher dialogue I can think of that opens images is the wallpaper picker, so I'm not quite sure where the launcher comes into this.

It sounds like you are opening the image in one viewer, then leaving and returning to that viewer rather than closing and opening things. But without knowing precisely which apps you are using and the exact sequence of actions (at the level of "which button do you press" rather than what you intend to do) I can't be sure. I've tried doing what you describe with 3 different file browsers and the wallpaper picker in Nova Launcher, but not been able to reproduce what you see, so I think I need more detail to work this out.
