Drawer Menu

I've made a simple Webview app. I'd like to add a slide-out drawer of some sort that acts as navigation to different web pages. I've been looking at various approaches including android Studio Navigation activity but I cannot understand how to edit this to show web pages.

What would be a good approach for me to take in this?

S9 - GPS problem - tracking not working

If a component has broken there are basically 2 possibilities: the GPS antenna (or the connection to it) or the entire motherboard. The actual GPS (& Galileo, GLONASS, etc) hardware is in the SoC (system on a chip), not a separate component, so the antenna is the only thing you could fix without replacing the whole motherboard.

To be honest, damage to the SoC, or to the motherboard in a way that only affects GPS, feels unlikely to me. I'd have thought either a disconnected antenna or a firmware fault would be more likely. When you reinstalled the latest update was that a full firmware flash or just a small patch? I'd suggest trying a full firmware flash to be sure. You should also certainly try a factory reset before you consider replacing the motherboard (all your data are gone if you replace the motherboard so there is no downside to trying a reset first).

And apologies for suggesting this, but just to rule out the stupid possibilities: you aren't using it in some "EM radiation protection" phone case? People do actually sell such things, and any case that actually blocked radio waves (i.e. wasn't simply an ordinary case being sold to the gullible) would interfere with GPS reception.

Help Roaming indicator flashing wi-fi calling?!

AFAIK it still does. Although I've only seen roaming when using a carrier's service internationally. Like when I was using China Unicom service in the UK, Ireland, and Netherlands.

The OP @Milo Williamson are doing international travel? Which is something that can make a phone show a roaming indication.
Not at all, was pretty much in doors at the house today.

samsung galaxy a21 sim question

If you take your SIM card and your microSD card, and put them both next to each other you'll see that they're different as far as shape and dimension, and that the metal contacts differ in number and location. Now visualize your phone's card slot -- the corresponding metal contacts have to be located to be in the exact same location when you have the tray inserted. A SIM card isn't going to fit into the tray's microSD card spot, nor will any of the contacts line up correctly if you do manage to jam it into place. There is no magic way tor a phone to move its own internal components to different locations, the slot is soldered permanently to the logic board.
You need to get a dual-SIM phone order to do what you want, or a phone with dual eSIM support. It's not just a hardware issue either, when your phone doesn't support multiple SIMs, more than one SIM card isn't going to work anyway. If the installed firmware doesn't already include dual-SIM support, it's not an option.

yes i know that the sd cards are not the same as sim card are. so i took the tray and put it in the phone about where the firs sim sould set in the phone if it had 2 sims and it did not register so either there is not actual connections or the program just will not read that sim in that spot

so i think my best action will be to either to just get a tracfone card for the next few cycles and see if this free metro number goes ofline again and then just put the tracfone sim back into this phone. or to see if i can get a good dual sim phone the is 128gb for storage and then have both sims regitered to that phone. i can do the tracfone online but may have to call metro to get the metro sim connected to the new phone.
thanks

suddenly think of an interesting question

I used to have one of those belt clip thingies for my Nokia 5185i I used up till 2010. Thing popped off each time I sat or crouched. That poor Nokia had to have the battery (which was also the back of the phone) duct-taped to the phone just to keep it powered on since after so many drops the battery snaps were long broken.

Back in those old crazy Nokia days we had a guy at the Cingular Wireless store who could literally fix any phone in seconds. You could hand him a busted LCD Nokia 5100 and he'd have it fixed in less than a minute. Still amazes me looking back on it. FAST. Nowadays phones are made where folks just toss them into the garbage to get their 'next upgrade itch' going. Even though today phones have even less features than that N95 did.

gzip files updated leads to patch problems

Confused about your tar.gz and gzip correlation, they're two different archiving protocols. As a file, each one is its own file type and the only commonality is both use compression to reduce file size.

Regarding the error messages, if you open up one of those tar.gz files it will most likely result in a directory with its files. If you put the patches in that same directory try compiling again to see if that works out. If it's still a problem, use a text editor to open the 'config' file and search for lines that pertain to those error messages.

Emoji

I could not understand the question till the end. Is it about emojis or emotions that people share when playing poker (or a similar card game)?
I'm not sure if I understood that correctly, but it takes a lot of effort to learn to control your emotions while playing some card games where it is important. It is even important if you play online casinos at casinosnotongamstop.online because your mind needs to be cold as ice to make correct decisions and not act out of emotions.
I think the only way to learn this is to practice because no one knows you better than you know yourself.

Restoring Performance Galaxy S5 SM-G900V

I would focus more on getting a new or newer phone than on pointless conspiracy matters -- i.e. the Apple incident was a very selective one and just old news, not unlike the silly rumors about Samsung is failing because of its Note 7 battery incident (i.e. smartphones are just a small part of its business and it's still selling the largest market share of phones). Also a selective matter and old news.
But here in the real world, it's still a matter where a dated phone like your S5 has just aged to the point where its usability has diminished. Google stopped supporting it a long time ago, most app developers too so even the apps on it are in question, and basically there are hardware limitations that will make even third-party ROMs more about just having a phone that boots up than a phone that's actually usable as a daily usage phone again.
Today's Internet has devolved into a toxic mix of really useful online services and countless compromises so using any outdated mobile device involves an increased amount of risk. Keep that in mind as you want to keep using your S5, and be extra careful about anything and everything you do online.
As for getting another Samsung phone as an upgrade, Samsung does make some really good hardware, and some of the alterations it makes to the base Android operating system it installs on its products appeal to a lot of people, but there's also a lot of Samsung branding that adds a lot of bloat too. Buy another Samsung because you want to stay within Samsung's oversight, but I'd suggest you look into something like a Pixel phone for a clean Android device, or a OnePlus or Moto phone that will be have a minimum amount of added cruft and bloat. There are plenty of good, usable, reliable phones that aren't flagship models.

Verizon and ATT added a lot of bloat to older Samsung phones

Samsung Galaxy A10 5g wifi not showing on wifi

Actually:

802.11n Performance
802.11n connections support maximum theoretical network bandwidth up to 300 Mbps, depending primarily on the number of wireless radios in the devices. 802.11n devices operate in both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.

My A10 android 9 is only on 2.4GHz, yet my older crappy Android 7 phone is on 5GHz!

Remodeling/renovating my house

Thanks! What's funny is that NO ONE thought I'd ever go with tile of that color. It actually came up in my search when I added 'orange' to my filters. Wow! There it was. Everyone expected me to go with some sort of blue....but, no! Not this time.

There's a long story about the shower curtain. Before Mom died, she asked for a new shower curtain and she was very specific--she wanted a beach scene, with birds and the ocean and sand. This was the first result and it was perfect--especially since it also has a lighthouse, which was one of her favorite things. Some time back, when the previous [ceramic] waste basket got broken, I ordered the one you see now. I honestly did not realize--for years--that it exactly matches the shower curtain! My helper got something reddish/brown on the curtain, and since it's cloth it never came out. I was pissed. Then she recently presented me with a new one! And I found the whole collection online, and added the shower curtain hooks, the soap dish, and the tumbler. As for the 'beach' plaque, the whole time I lived in landlocked Dallas, I dreamed and longed for the beautiful Pacific ocean. I LOVE the beach, the ocean, the sea life, the seaweed and shells.... So, yeah, when I saw that, I had to add it.
My mother grew up on the beach in Plymouth, pratically up until my father got married twenty eight years ago. Before he passed on around twenty years ago, her side of the family all eggshelled around Mass. Until my Aunt's kids decided to stay in P.A., both whom are married off and just continued to walk into that adventure of everything underneath the roof. Right now she is on vacation.

I kind of vouched out of going on vacation up there this time around, been helping out at my sister's place, her basement got flooded last week, so had to stay over there for a spell and just went back with my side occupation on that following weekend. I too have adventure on the beach several times since I was a wee little tyke with my sister.

2022 “Stawberry Supermoon”

isn't this just a full moon that is appears at a certain time? nothing really special about the actual moon other than the time of year it occurs.....am i correct?
In addition to Olbriar’s correct comments about it being “super,” it’s called a “strawberry” moon because, as you surmise, it coincides with a time of year, in this case the strawberry harvest. ;)

Happy 8th Birthday!

My original G900V died of screen flickering after that 1/17/18 Blueborne patch Samsung tried repairing it two times to no avail. Upgraded to a Note 9 then a friend was nice enough to ship for me a S5 for free from this veteran who was changing phones. It arrived at my doorstep on 1/4/2021 Then I bought a Tmobile S5 February 2021 because I wanted to experience Kitkat on the S5 as I never experienced it due to owning an S4 in 2014. G900T is going strong but had to use the battery from the Verizon S5 due to the seller including a faulty battery. That free verizon S% has a broken charging port and flap which needs to be replaced so it's lying dormant currently

Peach heart with ecg lines app

The only icon that has 'puzzle pieces' inside I'm aware of is the icon for Samsung Configuration Update, which does background tasks and occasionally shows a notification icon that quickly goes away if you don't catch it. It has four 'puzzle pieces' inside it though.

If I take an ECG with a Galaxy Watch 4, the phone will show a heart symbol very close to the OP's indicating an ECG record has been saved to Samsung Health, where you can tap it to view the results.

Don't play misty for me

The Galaxy A02s is a bottom-tier Samsung smartphone. It's the second generation of the A0x branding, with the first numeral being the tier, 0 being bottom end, with higher numbers being higher end, and the second numeral being the generation, 2 being second gen, after the A01, and the A03s being the third. I have no clue what 's' stands for.

That said, I played with one for a while, and the cameras aren't sealed from the elements (the case is plastic and carries zero IP rating). They can tend to get dust inside them, as well as the screen of the phone itself, which causes hazy/foggy photos. Another case of 'you get what you pay for'

Help 10+ won't turn on

I think there is a way of flashing a Samsung without erasing data, but I don't know the details. But you will need to be able to get it to boot into the appropriate state (download mode I believe) before you can flash it: if it won't power up at all there is nothing you can do apart from see whether someone can repair it (without erasing it or replacing the motherboard, since either of those will lose your data).

It's very hard to say what the cause here might be. If the reason you replaced this phone was the battery not holding charge then the battery failing is one possibility. Perhaps try leaving it on charge for a while and see whether it comes to life? Phones only run from the battery, and the charger connection only charges the battery, it doesn't power the phone, so if the battery isn't capable of charging you won't be able to boot it.

As an aside, if it's possible that the battery may be that bad keep an eye on it while charging. I replaced a Pixel 2 in December because the battery had become unreliable, but there was something on it I wanted to access today. I put it on charge last night and after a couple of minutes there was a "pop" and the display partially separated from the phone! What had happened was that the battery has swollen and pushed the display out (there had been no hint it was that bad before this happened). It's dangerous to try to charge a battery in that state (fire risk), which is why I say that if it's possible that the battery has failed completely then it's worth a go charging it for a few hours but don't leave it unattended, just in case.

Of course there can be other reasons why the phone won't power up. One other thing to check is whether it actually will boot up but the screen is dead: can you get it to make a sound, or can you see it connect to your WiFi network? That may be a long shot, but if that were the case there may be other things you can try.

Help Android 9 SBC and M.2 modem

Hello

I have an Khadas Vim3 single board computer with Android 9 installed on it. I wanted to add to it modem for mobile connection. I got myself Simcom SIM7600 connected through M.2 and extension board (that contains SIM card slot). I have follow the instruction, added following lines to init.rc
#-------------------------------------------------------------------
service ril-daemon /system/bin/rild - l /system/lib/libreference-ril.so
class main
socket rild stream 660 root radio
socket rild - debug stream 660 radio system
#---- gps supported ??? --------------------
socket rild - gps stream 660 radio system
user root
group radio cache inet misc audio sdcard_rw
#-------------------------------------------------------------------

I have also copied /system/lib/libreference-ril.so and /system/lib/libril.so from the driver package for the modem.

Problem is, it seems like device is still behaving like there's no functional modem plugged in.

Please help
