Now that the Oneplus 6 is 42 months, (3.5 years), old and the OnePlus 6T is 36 months, (3 years), old they have reached their, linked, scheduled EoL, (End of Life), and will no longer receive Regular Software Maintenance or Software Security Maintenance, (Android Security patches), see...

We, "may", see a final release in the coming weeks that could update the current Android Security patch and may offer some minor bugfixes but then that will be it for support from OnePlus for the OnePlus 6 & 6T devices.

There will NOT be an Android 12 update for these devices.

If you wish to extend the life of your OnePlus 6 or 6T and receive regular updates and Android Security patches, you will need to install a custom ROM such as Lineage or any of the other custom ROM's out there.

How to cure Battery draining and lagging problem

The last Android 5.1 device I had was five years ago, an Oppo Find7. So have no real ideas about it these days. Except to say that devs very likely no longer support it, and it's probably only going to run older versions of apps, that's it.
@puppykickr @mikedt bro thank do u know any old version or old app for 3rd party dialer which can work with Android 5.1

What apps are these

The cloud is either some cloud storage or backup app or else a weather app. Clouds are, unfortunately, rather generic and there are a lot of apps with cloud icons, so very hard to identify a particular app.

The ball looks like a football ("soccer ball" to Americans). There are a lot of apps related to that sport, and I've never been that interested in 22 strangers kicking a ball around a field for 90 minutes, so I can't hope to identify which particular sports app it might be.

The last one was identified in another thread recently as the "digital wellbeing" app. That's probably collecting data on their screen time usage and sending it to Google ;), but it's not something that the user uses to send data anywhere.

Help Android Rules not working as expected.

Hi there, I recently setup a few a rule on my phone to turn the ringer up when connected to my home wifi (because I would often have it set to vibrate when I'm out and then forget to turn the ringer back on when I got home.

It works in that when I get home it sets it to ring, but it's also turning the ringer off when I leave the house. Turn the ringer off when disconnected to wifi is not a rule. It's just doing it for me. I don't want it to not ring when I'm out unless I manually set it.

Is this happening to anyone else? I'm using Android 12 on a Pixel 3a.

Thanks!

Help Notification Sounds Not Routing to Only Earbuds

I know Samsung phones with Android 11 can do that, like the Note20 and S21, via a feature in Settings called "Separate app sound", which allows you to set app notifications to only go through the BT headphones or the phone's internal speaker.

Samsungs with Android 10 I don't know, and I've never heard of this "Samsung Sound Assistant" ether. Is that a feature of the S9 phone?
It seems Sound Assistant is a separate set of options that got added into Android 11, because it has the separate app sound option. However, that will only work for one app at a time, and is the app's output sound, not notification alerts or any of that.

Help Play Store review not showing as published

Well, I tried reposting the review with a few edits (including deleted parentheses) under my main account (instead of a different account), after changing my main account's name so it doesn't show my legal name.

This time it got posted. I don't know if it was due to the edits or which account I used.

Google loves to shadow-hide content it falsely indicates is published, and is not transparent as to why perfectly valid content is shadow-hidden.

Help Restricted (second) user can´t login after device reboot

OK,
in a desperate attempt to get an answer I reached out to the (german) Samsung support (since I received no answer, neither here nor in the german forum where I originally posted the question:
(Site address removed. Address not needed)
I will post the german original answer here as a quote, translation will be written below.
Here is what the support wrote me:
Tatsächlich ist nach einem Neustart die Nutzung des eingeschränkten Nutzer erst möglich, wenn der Hauptnutzer alles entsperrt hat. Wenn das Gerät im Stand-By ist, dann kann der andere Nutzer direkt darauf zugreifen, jedoch nicht nach einem Neustart. Das kann im System auch nicht geändert werden
Translation:
In fact, after a restart, the restricted user can only use it once the main user has unlocked everything. If the device is in stand-by, the other user can access it directly, but not after a restart. This cannot be changed in the system either

When I asked whether this behaviour is Android (11) specific or an addition by Samsung, the answer was:
Das ist auf jeden Fall bei Samsung immer der Fall, ob es aber komplett Android-spezifisch ist, kann ich dir nicht sagen.
Translation:
This is definitely always the case with Samsung, but I cannot tell you whether it is completely Android-specific.

:(

Could someone check whether this is Samsung specific or is actually happening on all Android-tablets?
According to https://source.android.com/devices/tech/admin/multi-user, the function "Restricted Profile" in Android is only available on Tablets and TVs.

Best and TIA,

Broken screen

Question: did he have a Google/gmail account for that phone? (most people do) If so, then his contacts ought to be already in the Google cloud, as well as his email. Texts could be an issue since those are local to the phone database.

Is the phone totally non-functioning? Even with a transfer program, you need to be able to do some functions on the phone itself to enable the transfer, you can't really suck everything over from an external connection.

As to a free program, Samsung SmartSwitch is available free for all recent Samsung phones since at least S6 so that can be used to move everything. I've done so twice in the past 5 years when upgrading from S6 through S10 and likely will do so soon when I upgrade to current S?? version.

Help Hands Free Incoming Calls

I have recently noticed that whenever I receive calls on my hands free car radio (Sony 410), it now only displays the number and not the contact name. I have a Galaxy A12 phone and yes, I have checked that my contact listing has synced to my radio. I don't recall having altered any settings and nothing I try will restore it from this state. Has this happened to anyone else and if so, how did you fix it?
