Apps Why is my PC slow when downloading a large APK file, and how can I fix this issue?

I've been experiencing a frustrating problem when trying to download a large APK file on my PC. The download process slows down significantly, and it takes forever to complete. I have a decent internet connection, so I'm not sure what's causing this issue. Can anyone help me troubleshoot and resolve this problem?

Could be the speed of the whatever it is website you're downloading the APK files from. Maybe that is slow?

brightness full up super easy shortcut somehow?

It can be challenging to adjust your tablet's brightness when you're outdoors in bright sunlight. While Android may not have a built-in solution specifically for this scenario, you can try the following:
  1. Adaptive Brightness: Enable the "Adaptive Brightness" or "Auto Brightness" feature on your Android device. This will adjust the screen brightness automatically based on your surroundings. You can find this option in the Display settings.
  2. Quick Settings: Swipe down from the top of your screen with two fingers to access the Quick Settings panel. Look for the brightness slider, which should be one of the first options. You can adjust it without needing to see the screen clearly.
  3. Accessibility Features: Android offers various accessibility features that can assist in this situation. You can enable features like "TalkBack" or "Magnification gestures" to help navigate the interface.
  4. Screen Curtain: If you use an iOS device, there's a feature called "Screen Curtain" that turns off the display while keeping the device on. Android may not have an identical feature, but you can achieve a similar effect by using a dark piece of cloth or a "privacy screen protector" that limits the viewing angles.
  5. Third-Party Apps: You can search for third-party apps on the Google Play Store that provide quick access to brightness settings via gestures or screen taps. Some of these apps offer customizable shortcuts.
Remember to check your device's settings and explore the accessibility features that may help you navigate your table in challenging lighting conditions. Additionally, using a screen protector with anti-glare properties can make it easier to see your tablet's screen outdoors.

Apps How can I display values from Android Studio profiler/performance on my app?

To display values from Android Studio profiler or performance metrics in your app, you can use the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) or logcat. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do it:

  1. Enable Profiling in Android Studio:Ensure that your app is running in debug mode in Android Studio. Open the Profiler tab and select the metrics you want to monitor, such as CPU, memory, network, or GPU usage. Start the profiler session.
  2. Connect Your Device:Make sure your Android device is connected to your computer via USB and has developer mode and USB debugging enabled. You can check this in the developer options on your device.
  3. Use ADB to Pull Data:Once you have your app running in Android Studio and the profiler is collecting data, you can use ADB to pull the data from your device. Open a command prompt or terminal window and navigate to your Android SDK platform-tools directory.
    • To pull CPU usage data, you can use the following ADB command:
      bashCopy code
      adb pull /data/misc/traces/cpu.trace
    • For memory data, use:
      bashCopy code
      adb pull /data/misc/traces/memory.trace
    • To retrieve network data:
      bashCopy code
      adb pull /data/misc/traces/network.txt
    • For GPU data (requires root access):
      bashCopy code
      adb pull /data/misc/perfetto-traces
  4. Parse and Display Data in Your App:Once you've pulled the data, you can parse it and display the relevant metrics within your app. You can use any suitable library or custom code to read the data files and present the information to the user.
  5. Regularly Update Metrics:To keep the information up to date, you can periodically refresh the data by repeating the ADB pull and parsing process.
Remember that certain data may require root access, such as GPU data. Also, be cautious with accessing performance data on a production app as it may impact the user experience.

By following these steps, you can display Android Studio profiler or performance metrics in your app for monitoring and debugging purposes.

how do i turn off the double tap function on my samsung a7 while telephoning?

If you want the double tap functionality on your Samsung Galaxy A7 phone during a call, you can follow these steps:

1. Open the Phone app.
2. Tap the Settings icon.
3. Access Call Settings.
4. Turn off the double-tap feature.

Good luck!
1st off call settings is not under the phone settings. you can do a search within the phone's settings to find it....but it is not directly under settings. you can also go into the phone app and then into it's settings to find "call settings"

2nd in samsung phone's do not have a double tap feature under call settings. it is found under accessibilty. you have to turn that on or off to disable the double tap feature. there is no other way to do this.

3rd welcome to AF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MM phone not allowed

This can be for a number of reasons.
#1: You're phone is linked to criminal activity or has been labeled as stolen and the IMEI has been disabled, Your IMEI is the only way your mobile carrier can verify that you have a phone number and other things and It's linked and saved into records, when criminal actvity or theft happens, these records are accessed and if the phone doesn't have a SIM, It connects to Emegerncy cell towers to label your phone as Blacklisted and cannot be used anymore unless you prove you are the owner of your phone,
Or
#2: You're SIM card isn't activated or has been disabled due to either you havent payed a bill or your account is on hold for a select number of reasons.

Hope you get this sorted out! Have a great night or day =3

Help needed please help security / big need for bluetooth devices in the home / google phone number unknown on new google accounr. Years of worry

I'm currently in a distressing situation and in need of advice regarding technology and safety at home and on my phone. A few years ago, I experienced unsettling intruder incidents at home, which has left me stressed. As a precaution, friends often stay with me.

Did You report this to the Police?

A - Phone Issue: I consistently face issues with every phone I purchase. Notably, unfamiliar numbers appear on the dial screen, and certain apps seem to transfer between phones unexpectedly.

Are these new phones or phones you get from your boyfriend?

B - Wi-Fi Issue: Initially, my Wi-Fi worked only with a connected lead, providing a speed of 19 mb/s instead of the promised 49 mb/s. After some adjustments, the speed improved to 49 mb/s, but I suspect some tampering.

Connected lead? Is this your phone or computer?

C - Google Account Issue: While trying to recover my Google account password, I noticed an unfamiliar phone number associated with the account, raising suspicions.

Have you given anyone else access to your Google account? like your boyfriend? or a good friend

Any advice or knowledge regarding these issues would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for closure, so I can move on with my life. Thank you in advance.

Maybe a therapist would help

Oem unlocking toggle

I've never seen anything in developer options to stop mic and camera access for all apps. You can turn that off for individual apps in Settings > Apps though. I don't know what Android version you have (I think you said it was a Samsung in another thread), but on my Galaxy s21 (Android 13) the trick is to go into Settings > Apps, click on "Permission Manager" and you can then see a list of permissions and how many apps are allowed to use them (and how many are capable of doing so if you let them). Click on "Camera" or "Microphone" and you have a list of the apps that have access, and by clicking on those apps you can change their permissions so that only those you trust can use it.

But since an app should have to ask for permission before it can access either of these, in principle only those that you've said yes to should have that permission. Even so it might be worth a check - if you disable it for an app and change your mind later you can always re-enable it.

It's harmless to have developer options enabled (as long as you don't mess with things where you don't know what they do ;)). I was just concerned that it might have been enabled without you doing so, which would imply that someone had been messing with the phone.

Faint screen on my screen please help!

East Coast USA. If you lived closer, I'd send you one of my old phones, but shipping would be an arm-and-leg and probably the wrong bands.

Wishing you lots of luck as you navigate through the personal stuff. It can be tough when you feel like you're starting over and rebuilding from scratch (trust me I know), but I'm rooting for you!
Awwwww bless you thank you though i need a miracle right now. I'll get there. All the best :)

Sim toolkit app icon

It was probably there all along, though system updates can change these things.

It's not unknown for service providers to include their own apps as well when the phone is bought through them, so the O2 app is probably one that they pre-installed on the phone. Is the icon very distinctive, or completely generic? It might be coincidence that they have the same icon, or even that neither has an icon and you are just seeing Android's default icon (though that normally has an "android" theme rather than looking in any way like a SIM).

Snapchat people you may know please help!

I've never used Snapchat myself, so can only guess, but if you have used it on a previous phone using the same Google account you signed into this phone with, and you allowed Google to back up app information for you on that phone, then when you installed Snapchat using that account it may have got the information from that backup. Or if you have signed into a Snapchat account after installing it may have got the information from the account (I assume Snapchat has accounts, whether linked to the phone number like WhatsApp does or to an account name).

But what exactly does it say? The subject of this thread is "people you may know", so another possibility is that when you confirm your phone number it suggests people who have previously been Snapchat "friends" with that number. Or perhaps people who have your number: many social media apps try to get you to give them access to your phonebook "so you can find friends more easily" (or similar excuse), so if these people have your number and Snapchat does that (and they gave it access) then it could associate you that way. There are many ways these apps can get data, and not all of them are under your control (this is why I always get annoyed by people who say "I don't care if Google/Facebook/whoever upload my data", because their phones will contain other people's information as well and it's not their place to decide whether these corporations can have it).

starfield

hey guys,
so i have been playing Starfield for over a month now and i must say it is truly a great game. you have to be a fan of Bethesda and their games like Skyrim and Fallout. it is a combination of those games plus No Man's Sky.

and yes i have been playing it for almost a month and i have yet to complete it. there are so many things to do in the game. you can build your own ships and outposts.
i am currently playing this on my Steam Deck. it is playable. you have to turn the graphics down low or it will crash on you. but it does play really well. i only had it crash on me a few times.

anybody play this? if so what is your character build?
