Help Removing Phone permissions prevents phone calls!

I don't even have Google Pay installed, so can't test anything related to that.

Though it's curious that the "tap and pay" settings have Google Pay listed as the default even so, as opposed to showing no options at all. Maybe this is Google trying to steer people towards their service: you look at the settings, see their name, assume that's what you need to do? There's a lot of money in these mobile payment systems, plus the data that Google, the world's biggest advertising company, would get on your purchasing, so they certainly have the incentive to push people towards it (I'd also be utterly unsurprised to find that manufacturers with their own payment systems try to steer users towards using those rather than Google Pay, for exactly the same reasons).

Selfie video question

Hi mikedt, I very much appreciate your help!
I am now recalling that the interrupted video I made was done before installing the micro-SD.. This means that there was a problem with the phone storage causing the video to stop recording at 52:42. Perhaps it was just a coincidence that the file was at 4.1GB. It would be helpful to know what went wrong.
I'm going to remove the micro-SD, free up as much space as I can, and try recording another video.
I'm not quite ready to get a 512GB micro-SD, but if you have any suggestions how to reduce the file size so that I can record for a full hour I'd love to hear it.
I should check into EXFAT for my Moto G5Plus. A 512GB micro-SD card would be awesome, and then I wouldn't have to worry about file sizes.
Thank you.

Firmware for Samsung Galaxy J337U 2018

Did you get that TWRP to work ? Or find a working version? I have not yet been able to find TWRP for the j337u yet.
I do have various fw of different binary and some combination files for the j337u if needed.

If you happen to do that again download frp hijack by haggard and it has a soft brick fix that loads the working files, and long as none were corrupted. Saved me more than a handful of times. its free & easily found.

App says its installed,but isn't

You are trying to install from the Play Store but don't have Play Services installed? Have you had problems with other apps, or are you serious enough about deGoogling that this is the only one you have installed from the Play Store?

(I admit that my version of deGoogling would not include the Play Store or a Google account on the phone, but I guess this is the only safe way of getting that banking app?).

That's correct, I don't have play services installed. No probs with other apps and I've got loads of apps. I'll have to check the Lineage OS reddit and see if others are encountering the same issues. It makes sense a financial app wouldn't work well with a degoogled lineage os phone. The world sure does try to punish you if you attempt to opt out of Google cult. Guess I'll have to rock two phones, one contaminated with Google products so I can zelle my landlord (who annoyingly insists on being paid through zelle), and a clean phone for everyday use. The real annoying part here is that I need the Ally mobile app in order to use Zelle to pay my landlord. My other bank wasn't "zelle preferred" so now I'm going down this rabbit hole of tech issues that are seemingly impossible to solve. All this BS was forced upon me - I was doing just fine previously with my super dope Lineage OS phone. I know y'all feel my pain. And I thought it was bad enough the googlers are driving up real estate costs in my hood. They just love to disrupt and the make the world a "better" place with their invasive practices. Thanks for offering your take! End of rant!

App Inventor Sizing images to fit all screens

Hi,

I've been reading and searching on how to display ImageViews that sizes the images based on the device. I have 16 cards that need to be displayed. My card size is 127X177px png files. I'm storing them in the Drawable folder. The top for cards are constraint by the top of the screen. I chain the row together, and force the left and right edge card to have a constraint to the edge. Each row has constraints on the row above. I've tried fitXY, Center, nothing seems to scale the cards, when shown they all overlap each other.

Thank you to any one that can help.

Unused app using data and power

Well without knowing what app it was it was impossible to really answer. Some apps will run in the background and use data in the background just because of what they do. For example if you install a weather app and that app's default is to update its data every 30 minutes (which would be a silly default), and you never look at its settings and change this, then even if you don't open the app it's probably going to log on to its server and download an update every 30 minutes. That's a made-up example, but the point is to illustrate that an app could be doing this while legitimately carrying out its function, and that perhaps by looking at the app's settings you can make it behave more reasonably.

Conversely if you say that it was a flashlight app behaving like that then for certain it was some piece of trash data-mining your device and uploading your activities to the Chinese Government/Russian Mafia/Facebook (whichever you think is worst ;)).

Or it could be some badly-written piece of junk that was misbehaving through incompetence on the part of the developer rather than malice. This is why it's usefull to supply information such as what app you are asking about, because it's really hard to say anything useful without knowing that.

new to android , apps badges

I believe that Samsung use Google's implementation of these badges, which means that the badge is literally a "notification badge", i.e. it is showing you that you have a notification and will remain for as long as the notification does. But you should be able to swipe the individual notification away rather than having to clear all. Also if you touch the notification that will probably take you to whatever it is notifying you about and clear the notification (I say "probably" because I've never heard of "badoo", but that is the normal app behaviour).

What's surprising is that going into the app and reading whatever the notification is about doesn't make it go away. Just opening the app shouldn't, but if you read the message or whatever the notification is notifying you of that should clear the notification, and hence remove the badge. If it does not clear the notification then the problem is with the Badoo app not behaving properly rather than the operating system, and the fix is to tell the developer that their app needs more work.

Auto 4 second delay/loop pedal app

Hello... sorry if this is not the right forum to ask this...

Does anyone know of an android app that I can set to constantly record and play back a 4 second loop, slowly fading out? You know, like a delay pedal/echo? My 3.5 month old son is making all kinds of strange noises and this could be his favourite toy. I've tried loopstation, and he liked it, but I really want something I can leave on auto so he can be constantly talking to himself.

Any Email App that allow google acc login without signing in to the rest of gservices?

k9 works for me, not bluemail nor outlook as they both require me to sign in fully to all of google services.

thx buddy, i figured out. it is also compulsory to enable less secure app from google setting for 3rd party app to work with gmail.

When you set up an account, don't choose "google" from the list of options, set up the account manually as an imap account, hope that helps.

Help Huawie Nova 3i can't play any videos & unknown icon in the header

No and I tried researching to no avail. Its fine now :) I let the battery drain completely and removed the sim. Just let it sit overnight, when I checked this morning its working perfectly again.

My theory is that the HBO Go App made my phone overheat and messed up with my phone. Never downloading it again Haha! Or I'll wait when its compatible with my Smart TV. Watching movies on the phone is apparently bad.... especially since HBO Go is a new app and keeps lagging. Never had this issue with Netflix.

I always have better luck just streaming from my browser.

If I am in the mood to tolerate ads, there are multiple apps that work great for TV and movies.

Pluto, Tubi, Crackle- are some of what I use.

They even work on low end devices like mine.

Syncing Android phone to symbolic link folder on PC not working

My SyncMe Wireless Android app has multiple 2 way sync jobs between the micro SD card on the phone and my WD external drive on the Windows 10 PC.

Currently, in SyncMe, there are multiple syn jobs individually pointing to folders scattered throughout the WD drive. So, for productivity reasons, I just want to sync to a root folder on the WD drive containing symbolic link folders pointing to those scattered folders.

For testing purposes, I used this to create a symbolic link folder on the PC:

mklink /D "F:\Phone\Enigma" "F:\Entertainment\Songs\Enigma"

But, SyncMe fails with this standard error message for the sync job pointing to F:\Phone:

cannot read folder contents /Entertainment/Songs/Enigma. Computer error: The create operation stopped after reaching a symbolic link

SyncMe uses the SMBv1 protocol, but the PC's SMBv1 is already enabled in Turn Windows features on or off. I tried all sorts of configuration changes without success. Seems like I need to use an app with SMBv2 support.

I tried the SMBSync2 Android app, but no success as online SMBv2 configuration instructions for the PC were overcomplicated and didn't work.

I'm not even sure if the problem I'm having is related to SMB protocol compatibility.

How can I make Android sync jobs work with symbolic link folders on the PC? BTW, please accept my apologies if this is not the place to post this thread. Thanks.
