Home Screen help needed

Your home screens are controlled by an app called a "launcher". All phones come with one, but you can install a different one if you want (the same app is also responsible for the "app drawer". The fact that you are asking suggests that you are using the launcher that came with the phone rather than one you installed yourself, in which case we need the information Danny has requested above to know what launcher you are using (and then hopefully someone with experience of that software will be able to answer).

Did you have a system update before this "new setting" appeared? Or did you install any new apps (or update existing ones)? Where do you see it and what does it do?

Device settings are ignoring me

Depends on what you mean by updates. If you mean refreshing their data, then yes it's probably true. If you mean updates to the apps, unless Samsung have done something weird then no, it's not true. Disabling an app will block updates, but the app sleeping won't.

BTW I put "probably" in their because this looks like something Samsung-specific rather than a regular Android feature. At any rate it's not "adaptive battery", it's some additional setting that isn't present in Android itself (I run Android 10 on a Pixel, and there's nothing like that). It may just be a global toggle to exclude apps from battery optimisation, as opposed to the app-by-app setting that's there normally, or it may be something to do with Samsung's device management add-ons. If the latter then I'm afraid I know nothing about it.

Help SM-J737A Stock firware

not sure what you can do without a firmware update. i'm not very familiar with factory binary. the only thing i saw was that flashing a firmware might fix your problem.....but you have to find one that is specific to your phone which i can't find.

curious as to how your phone got into the binary mode?

I was flashing using the combination fike and it didn't go as planned. The only way I get the phone to work is by getting the Stock ROM (at least that what the internet say) and I would flash firmware and have the phone work again. I tried searching the internet and could not find the proper firmware. My worry is for these sites that sells firmware (combination) what if they don't work as well and I have purchased already? Truth be told, I am waiting one confirmation from one site to go ahead with this. And keep on asking friends whether they have stock ROM saved.

Apps not updating from playstore

Try clearing the caches of Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Google Play Store, and Google Play Services.

Then open Google Play Store and try again.

If it still won't work, then clear the data from Google Play Store and Google Play Services.

Open the Play Store, and go through and reset your settings.

Wait for the security updates to complete, about 5 minutes or so, then try again.

If it still has problems, is there a possibility that you could have gotten an update from a different app store?

The app IDs are sometimes different from store to store, so one store may not be able to update an app from another store.
The only 2 apps that ever game me this issue was facebook twice in the past year and now messenger now. Eventually the facebook apps updated, so hopefully the messenger will too. It's odd that it wants me to connect to wifi even though i have mobile data or wifi selected for updating apps. Thanks for you response.

Copper germ killer

Yes, a lot of that is being done. Also, there are tape lines/boxes on the floor showing people where to stand in some stores. At least one Starbucks has removed the furniture. Let's not forget those elevators with toothpicks or tissues for people to use on the buttons and then place in a container for disposal. There's even a case (at least one) of a tp roll being locked to the spindle. I just hope those jerks stealing masks and hand sanitizer from hospitals get caught and punished. I guess I'll finish for now with the guy, in Kentucky, I think, who checked himself out of the hospital against medical advice and apparently refused to stay home. It seems the state governor invoked some clause or other to send the police and make sure he stays at home. I wonder how much that's going to cost. At least it's not Florida man.

Notifications are no longer working / Duplicate notifications

Hey all,

Samsung S10+. Recently reset to factory. Almost all notifications (Gmail, outlook, hangouts, gvoice, Facebook, etc) do not notify. They all require manual opening and refresh.

Right now only Google messages (sms) appears to work OK.

- Battery mode is set to high performance.
- Have removed sleep settings/optimize battery on all primary apps
- DND is not on (set for night)
- Sync is enabled
- No apps managing battery/sleep
- Wiped cache partition

Also every now and then, I get flooded with duplicate notifications (usually outlook and Facebook messenger).

Not sure how to fix but would really appreciate any support!

Thanks

how to root j3

so here is a tip. if you ever want to root a device, i always go to xda developers forum. i would then do my research there. i look to see if there is a forum for my device. i also look to see how active it is and if there is any developer support. if there is no forum that means there is no dev community currently supporting your device. developers are amazing and they are usually the ones who find ways to root specific devices.

just remember no dev=no fun

so i found the guide you will need:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...overy-twrp-3-1-1-1-samsung-galaxy-j3-t3709056

please read the guide from top to bottom. i would also recommend that you read all of the pages within the guide. and before you attempt to root your device please remember to read, read, read, and then read some more. in other words be prepared;)

and one last thing, if you have any questions please feel free to ask here. i find xda to be filled with lots of potential drama.
