As for not having usb debugging enabled and how to flash official firmware with a pc? I honestly haven't got a clue. The fist time I rooted was with an app. I Immediately noticed, the app had root control and I was secondary to the app. I found it to be unacceptable. Thatbwas the first and only time I ever used an ap yo root a device. I was positive, I need to root with a pc and I had to learn how the hell to do that :) as I didnt have experience with pc, the programs I didn't even know what drivers where.
I was determined to haveva rooted phone come hell or high water. Adding to my resolve way when Id open an rooted app on my non-rooted phone it would instantly popup a message "root required" and close. I felt like the app was telling me "VIP only, no peasants allowed, peon!". I chuck about it now but back then I took it as an insult. :) Open it again and kick out again. :)
Anyway , to make a long story short, I learn how to flash via pc and I have always had to enable usb debugging.
I have no idea how to use a pc to flash with usb disabled. Sorry

Android Chrome - Articles for You

Is it possible to remove specific sites from the Articles for You suggestions on Android Chrome?

I tried searching for this before posting, but I could not find anything relevant. I want to keep Articles for You enabled as I do not mind the feature, but I'd like the content to improve, instead of Google sending click-bait nonsense. I thought I found how to do that with Google News and also tried changing the settings within the Chrome enable flags, but it is still suggesting the couple sites that I'm trying to remove. Any help is appreciated!

Alarm volume turns all the way down

I think my hunch was correct. It involves my live-in helper's new Chromecast. :eek:

I haven't had enough opportunity to say for sure, but the problem started and, I think, only occurred when she was using her new Chromecast.

At this point I don't have much to go on, just the perhaps coincidental entrance of a new gadget on my Wi-Fi network. How or why that could/would turn my alarm volume off...I have no clue.

If/when I have more info, I'll update. All I can say for sure right now is that my alarm volume hasn't turned itself down recently--nor has my helper used her Chromecast. :thinking:

Yes. You're seeing perfectly normal Linux and Android behavior.

I don't have an SD card in this phone, but look at how my main storage is named (near the top of the pic):

As for directories named root and etc, they'd only be a problem on a Linux system if they didn't exist!

Do not touch, edit, move, or delete any system files/directories, or you're going to end up borking your device. If you're not sure about something, ask. :)

Cannot delete photo

Alternatively you can use a File Explorer to delete the file without having to load the preview. Then load up your gallery and make sure it doesn't appear any more.

Lastly try clearing your phone's cache before and after all of this... and report back!

Using File Explorer I was able to delete the file (which was a tmp file). Going back to the gallery showed the saved image with the correct file name and everything. That seemed to fix it. Thanks!

Photos Not Syncing

Turn back up & sync on or off

Before you start, make sure you're signed in.

Android 10, is there a way to adjust alarm volume?

Interesting. On the Pixel Notifications are tied to Ring volume, which makes more sense to me since they perform similar functions (audible alerts) while Alarm has a different usage. I wonder why Samsung did it that way?

Though for that matter I've never understood why Google didn't leave well alone and keep Ring/Notification/Alarm as separate settings, as used to be the case.

I get this type mismatch error that I don't really understand, I've been stuck on it for quite a long while and I haven't really figured it out. The error looks like this:

What exactly does the question mark mean and what's the difference in their positions?

I get this error at onActivityResult. The activity has a webview. When the user clicks an "Upload Image" button on the website, the app shows a file chooser, and gets the result back, then the image is sent to webview. Here's its code snippet:

Verizon Ellipsis 10 charging question

First you state that you are using a USB port to charge the device.

Then you say that you are using a 3½A charger to charge the device. yes i use the usb port on the device to charge the device and the poser supply is a 3.5 amp charger

There is a big difference, as USB is a slow charge. Very slow. i would think 3.5 amps is plenty of power to charge most any device
So slow, in fact, that my crummy 1GB device will slowly discharge while plugged into a USB port if I leave Wi-Fi on.

If the battery is shot, then that is your issue. battery could be bad but it does actually charge up to full power according to the device's own battery monitor.
Check the power cord, even if that cord works o other devices. i have use 3 cords now i have on i got the says itis able to handle 3.4 amps and one that is for tablets from the mfg. and another one that has been charging other tablets just fine.

If there is no way to monitor the milliamps that your charger is providing (settings, battery), then get an app that will do so.

This will allow you to compare the charging rate between different cords.

I bet you will be surprised at what you find.

Make sure that the charging port is clean, on both the charger and device ends. can't speak for the device as i got it from ebay but the power supply is new and the cord is new and rated for 3.5 amps

Last but not least, it may be of some use to go through the system apps and any user apps (you did say that it was used, right?) and disable whatever you don't need.

Dim the screen, turn the automatic dimmer off, and force stop any app that you don't use that you can't disable. all i have installed after a factory reset is tinycam monitor and radar and speed test. and yes i went into the system and turned off everything that did not say android or google for systems or deleted all not necessary

Hopefully all this will save enough power and increase the charge rate to a point where it can maintain function for you.


so it charged all night and got up to 80% and this morning i turned it on to view the cameras at 5am and now at 9am it is down to 40%

so that is why i asked if anyone knows if all the battery wires were needed to run this device. my other tablets will run with no battery but this is a verizon phone that is 10" and like most phones seems to not like turning on without the battery. but i'm betting it can run without actually have the battery connect to the point of charging it. i think the battery is bad but they want 50$ for a new battery and for what i use this for that is not o happen. but it does a good job for showing the cameras so if it is fixable i will give it a go if not i will toss in out. as the seller gave me a refund. thanks

This happens on all wifi and even when I'm using data and even people next to me while using the same wifi have access to the app. Also I don't know if I have any web protection I don't have any specific apps downloaded is there a way to find out?

if you do a reset but then restore with a backup that may be faulty, you are reinstalling the issue.

it could be some app you have installed that's not yet compatible with Android 10. unfortunately there's no magic bullet that can fix all the google services issues that we see over the internet because we all have different apps and things installed. i think a hard reset is overkill.
