question about ethernet

thanks i knew that about the cd i just made mention of it. and i know i can't make a 2.0 usb into a 3.0 usb i have the 2.0 port in the phone and the phone supports 2.0 only. some of the youtubes are saying this can be done and they claim to be doing it but i'm now leaning towards these being scams. but if someone here says it can be done and proves it then i may have things to do to get it to work. again thanks for that help. it looks like i have more work to do yet if this is going to work. some are telling me i need a tablet that has 6.0 or above on it but being my phone has 7.0 i said 8.0 my mistake it has 7.0 and this dongle fails to work better i think it may be internal to the devices like your saying. thanks much.

i did some looking and discovered that i was not using an otg device. must be something to the otg device. so i will get one and try it to see. plus i need 6.0 to get it to work. so if it works on the phone then i will get a tablet and run my tinycam on the new tablet. thanks

Ata a loss on how to execute app

No idea about that, I'm using AS - but yeah, you need to get an .apk if you want to run an app.

I'm also a bit concerned about your app, though - How are you loading the relevant APIs? How are you testing the app? I'm not familiar with the tool you're using, but is it designed to create android apps? Do you have an emulator to test it on?

I'll leave other questions about it for more advanced developers here.

Doogee X10 Chinese phone

Definitely go through the process of re-flashing this phone. Given it's a hand-me-down and the current Android install on it is corrupted you really want to return it to its former, clean, first time used state. You wouldn't want to use it not knowing what might have been left on it even if it was running properly.
That said, it's a relatively dated model with low hardware specs:
https://www.devicespecifications.com/en/model/41ca42a2
With only 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and a low res screen those are limiting factors for something like a daily usage phone. If you take it somewhere to have it serviced, weigh your options on how much money you want to spend on it to get it working again.

Gmail - no sync?

OK, given that this sporadic Notifications issue is only limited to your home LAN and that its affecting two different devices that indicates the issue is likely to be with your router.
-- What kind of router do you have? An ISP-supplied modem/router unit or do you have your own, discrete router? If the former, who is your ISP? If the latter, what model router is it?
-- Is distance between either phone and your router a factor when Notifications fail? Do you connect one or both using a 2.4GHz or 5GHz band network? (A very general rule that involves a lot of overlap is a 2.4Ghz band network will have longer effective range, a 5GHz band network more bandwidth.)
-- Is your router physically located in a relatively open spot or is it buried under a desk or something like that? Generally you'll get a better, wider coverage range when it's not tucked in between a bunch of metal file cabinets.

Try installing something like this WiFiAnalyzer (open-source) app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vrem.wifianalyzer&hl=en_US
and use it to check your home's WiFi network. It will give you numbers on signal strength so you can walk around your home and get a rough 'heat mapping' on your routers coverage range. It can also give you a better idea on the approximate signal interference from any nearby WiFi networks that could be an issue to address.

Wifi calling

I cannot get the WiFi calling and today Vodafone have told me that 'we will not be able to get your Wifi calling to work as the firmware that is built into your device is not from the UK market, it has international coding that is not comp[atible with our software.' Is there any other way of using my home wifi to make calls other that WhatsApp? I have a very poor sinal in my home area.

reply-to in email client

Odds are whatever restrictions they set up are there to be in accordance with established security policies, so yeah, for those who want to intentionally cheat the system for whatever reasons it's not like they can control everything.

The company isn't tiny, but it isn't exactly Boeing. They've been using Google managed email for about five years, but recently hired some head of IT who views IMAP (on Google's servers, mind you) as a security risk. I've seen these IT guys come and go, and most of them are just nerdy control freaks who go into some passive aggressive mindset when they realize that some of the employees at a particular branch were fluent before they were born.

So dissapointed in Huawei Y9 Pro

Actually, I am so disappointed with my new Android device. The specification described it as excellent. But it has issues with the fingerprint. Couldn't apply themes because it does not compatible (I guess) now I discovered that the front camera quality is out of questions. Samsung Z1 has a better camera. The quality is really low and I can see the pixels in the picture. I don't know what to do with it.

What themes are incompatible, ones from the Huawei EMUI Theme Store, or some other third-party ones?

Help Whatsapp backup and restore problems

Q1: airplane mode. If you need to use WiFi to download then you can turn it on in airplane mode, but if WhatsApp is active there would then be the possibility of new messages coming in.

Q2: go into settings, apps, find WhatsApp, clear storage for the app. Then use your favourite file browser and erase the WhatsApp folder from your internal storage (or SD if it's there instead - it's been so long since I used a phone with an SD card that I don't know whether WhatsApp allows you to move that folder there).

Q3: it's been a long time, so I don't remember, but this sounds like what's described here: https://faq.whatsapp.com/en/android/20970873/

Battery saver settings

Hello!! I just noticed today that vibration is deactivated when the battery saver extended is on.. is there away to still have vibration on for notifications while this is on??
Yes you can. In Settings - General, go to Battery, then Battery Saver. You will see the three boxes labeled Off - Extended - Maximum. Tap on the level you want to change. (In my screenshot, I tapped on Extended. Follow the instructions in Red and tap "Turn on". After tapping, you will be back on the screen with the three boxes. In my case the "Extended" box that I selected is now blue. (If you originally chose the "Maximum" box, it would be blue. Just under the "Off" box there will be a line that says "Edit mode" (in white). Tap that. You will be brought to the settings of the box in blue. There you can make the adjustment you want. I hope this was clear. If not, you can ask me to clarify, I won't be offended. Good luck :thumbsupdroid:
