It is also a good idea to check the official stock firmware you downloaded with an md5 application to verify the validity of your download. If it does not match then delete it and re-download and check it again.
Im assuming when you say download mode that you means flashing official stock firmware and a tar.md5.
I suggest you go in recovery mode by holding power, home and volume up key. Once there look at the bottom to see if it says dm- verity, drk, or fail to mount efs. It is also a good idea to wipe catch, data a few times while in stock recovery before flashing a stock firmware. However, this will not fix drk ,efs, dm-verity.
It may also be a failure of your motherboard and if thats the case there is no software that you can flash that will fix a hardware issue. If the divice was previously rooted on 5.0 api 22 sytem root and your are now flashing a 6.0 api 23. and failed to unistall the su binaries that may be the issue.
I have noticed that most people on this site recommend using smart switch. I am not one of them. Then best method is to use Odin to flash official firmware.

Think of it this way, the operating system and apps should be left to do what they need to do, once you start micromanaging things like basic system folder/file management, all you're doing is gaining a false sense of accomplishment that in reality is only making your device do things it doesn't need to be doing.

I understand but telling Android to use its internal memory instead would not screw anything up if there was a setting to do that, but apparently there's not. :)

I ran the BAT file for aboot-install now when I press vol down + pwr it says it wants to factory reset, there isn't any way into recovery mode now? I try to let it boot but it sticks at LG screen and never boots. How can I fix this? It doesn't seem there is any way into recovery anymore. If I say yes factory reset, then it launches TWRP and resets, but it doesn't let me stay in TWRP it just reboots the phone. I'd like to restore my nandroid but I don't know how to get into recovery now

It was the August Security update. I read about it in my Google search for LG V40. I tapped "check for new system updates" on my phone and Viola. Totally on the level, no special downloads.

How to monitor changes in mobile network connections?

Hello to all,

I've been, for several days in different sites, looking for a way to monitor when a network change occurs without success so far. This is show with a Toast message when the phone changes from 2G to 3G, 3G to LTE and vice versa.

I found that is needed to use TelephonyManager, Connectivity Manager and Broadcast Receiver.

So far I have the below code that shows the changes when phone is in WiFi, without connection or mobile data, but once is in status "Mobile data" is not reporting the changes between 2G, 3G, LTE anymore.

Is there a way to detect in the moment that occurs the mobile network type changes?

This is a Utility class code that I have so far working for android 6.

I think your assumption that all seniors have smartphones (and know how to use them) isn't realistic.
... plus it's a 'convenient' bias to ignore all the people who just don't even own a mobile phone. That can include a really wide range of the population -- could be a funding issue, could be a matter where some intentionally opt not to tie their lives around them. But whatever the case, if this museum bases its admission on a) owning a smartphone and b) having to allow personal contact info to leak out of their phones, that will be something of a drastic filter on attendees. Personally if encountered this kind of situation, I'd just turn around and go elsewhere as I'd find A to be puzzling but B to be a no-deal issue.
Anyway, that legibility issue is a major stumbling block. I think using something like a tablet is the next best option though. It's not perfect solution but there isn't one, there a just too many facets to people in general. What about having volunteers or interns manually type in attendee contact info at the entrance(s)?

Connection issues

Has this problem been happening on a long-term basis or did it just start happening recently? Have of you just restarted your A20? That alone is will fix any number of glitchy problems.

If it's been a long-term problem, try installing this 'Glasswire Data Usage Monitor' app:

and use it to track down just which app/service is uploading so much data.

Do you have anything like the Google Music app set up to upload your music library into your online Google account? Or a BitTorrent app?

Help SWF file automatically and non-stop downloading?

Maybe I should just back everything up and go full factory reset? I haven't been using this new device for long so I should be able to get everything restored fairly quickly.

Not sure if we're just referring to the same thing using different terminology or if it's just a matter where you're averse to doing maintenance tasks in you're Settings menu. Deleting unwanted files in folders is not what I suggested previously (that's the result of the problem, not fixing the problem), I still think it's a matter of cleaning up the Downloads app itself, it could also be a matter of looking into the Chrome browser app, or it might indeed be tied to the Youtube app, and then see if that makes any difference. If you can solve things by addressing just the actual source of the problem, it might not require trying something more dramatic as a Factory Reset. There's obviously some kind of glitch that's prompting that file to keep being downloaded. Try going into the Settings >> Apps menu and use 'Clear data' on the Downloads app first. If that file keeps automatically downloading, then do the same on the Chrome app (note that using Clear data will wipe settings and config files for the app, although if you have your Chrome browser app set up to sync with your online Google account it will just get restored once you log in again). If the problem is still occurring, do this on the the Youtube app.

Battery Debate Issue after Oreo Update

Yes sorry, it's PIE, not Oreo (I get confused with these stupid desert names of OS systems).

Ok good, it does seem draining the battery to 40% or lower can lessen the life span of it, so I'm still confused why so many sites and forums still suggest that, but it could be that it's just misinformation and it then in turn gets spread around.

I'll just leave that alone and not bother with draining the batter then and just deal with the issue in hopes that somehow it gets fixed in a newer update.

The last thing I want is to do a factory reset. I've customized so many things that took a long time (most of which I've already forgotten) and wouldn't want to have to start from scratch as I did last year when I upgraded from a Blackberry 9360 to the S9 (you can tell how overwhelming that was). In fact I'm still not sure about 80% of this phone so don't want to add more issues with the reset. My friend actually did that and she said it caused her more pain than the drain was and ended up not noticing any difference. So there's that risk too...

Help is there anyway to get into a locked phone and keep the passcode intact?

But as far as I know, we can get into a locked Android phone without password, but without intact, impossible, unless you can get one phone password recovery tool to get back the password. Or, you can try Eelphone Android Unlock to remove Android phone screen lock, and reset one new password for it???:thinking:May not good idea.
