Root [Release] Android 2.2 Froyo for the Droid X

Things wrong with my Rooted and Froyo'd Droid X thus far...?

NONE!

Home button works.
Maps works.
Quadrant Works.
Flash works.
SU works.
Barnacle WiFi tether works.
Droid Light works.
Market works.

Every thing works. and it is AMAZING!




How my phone was setup prior. Time Line of events on my DX.
Bought it.
Installed the new update. (.604)
Rooted it.
Started to install some of Fabs themes.
*Left the whole DX hacking scene for awhile playing me some Pokemon on off hours*
Came back today, learned the amazing news and then proceeded with the following.
DL'd koush's .apk
DL'd fabs theme remover
Installed Fabs .zip with koush's .apk
DL'd the new Froyo update.zip
Moved over the su to /xbin from /bin Using Root Explorer
Tried to install the update.zip and got a logwrapper or w.e error code during the install.
Then I read about Rom Manager(I used RM on my Original Droid almost hourly)
So I then DL'd the 2.2 update from RM and bow chicka bow wow.
Rooted 2.2 with everything working.

If so, Is is safe to run one click root again? also, do we have to have the the stock apps we uninstalled, installed? if so, should I download the SBF?

But that's my point you have a ton of space without filling up your sd card. :D I on the other hand wish I could move stuff from SD to internal:(
 
Well, renaming the .apk to .bak seems to work for removing Bloatware in 2.2 as it did in 2.1

Remember not to touch the .odex files, though. :D
 
Obviously I'll lose everything but technically I could can try to boot into recovery.
Wipe data/cache.
back to 2.1.
re-root.
move su to /xbin/ with root explorer.
then update.

Right?

yes I did this is what I did

but before I did the 2.2 update I wiped everything again
 
I figured. Thanks for the answer. I shoulda had rootexplorer on there before I went ahead with the update.
 
Ok, so I got 2.2 running fine, BUT didn't root first.

So do I have to roll back to 2.1, root and then do the update again?

I'm not seeing near the speed increase as some here.. I'm only seeing about 1370, where some people here are seeing over 2000. Whats up with that?

I can't seem to find this, can anyone help me out a little? Is the 4 falses that need to be changed to true or what?
 
Did anyone start removing bloatware yet? I was having issues with my Maps. It kept crashing and force closing almost everytime it loaded. I was about to do a restore but I thought maybe I should put the bloatware back. Now that it's back, Maps is running fine. I'm wondering what it might have a dependency on? I didn't remove (rename) that many apps and they were the same that I did in 2.1 without any problems at all.

yes. there are 4 stagefright lines with a false value. change those to true. make a backup too before you start editing. although i think root explorer might back it up for you. but i did it just in case.

I did that but my score only went up to 1501 for the past hour or two....do I need to reboot? Any other tricks?

All you did was change the four stagefright lines to true instead of false, right? Flabbergasted how yours is so high and mine is 1500 haha. I know it doesnt mean much, but still fun to score high!
