Root [Release] Android 2.2 Froyo for the Droid X

How does it make the quadrant score higher? Which part of quadrant is enhanced when changing them all to true?

Although Stage Fright brings some nice speed optimizations to the table, there was a reason it was disabled, you know...

I don't know if you guys recall, but Stage Fright replaces some video and audio decoding routines in Froyo. There was a report that with the 2.2 and Stage Fright, Pandora and Slacker had very poor audio over 3G due to a bug in the lower bit rate AAC decoder in Stage Fright.

Verizon/Motorola probably remembered that, since an official fix isn't out from Google, and disabled it themselves.

So, if you use Pandora and Slacker a lot over 3G, it might not be worth it to enable Stage Fright for higher quadrant scores.

Not sure if this means anything, but I just turned off wifi and switched over to 3g and am listening to Pandora. Audio seems fine so far--not sure if it changes as you listen more, but it seems normal so far. As normal as a cellphone speaker can sound that is.

I thought it was opposite of that...but I don't know

For me, even if I turn it all back off, since the other leading phones have it enabled, I want to compare apples to apples. But I will not revert unless I notice the decline

oh I got root, and I'm familiar with adb, just not enough to know exactly what to do. Anybody know how to do it thru adb?

Do I need to rename the droidx_rooted_froyo.zip to update.zip or can I run it as is from the SDcard with the new bootstrap? Thanks. I don't want to go forward until I hear confirmation.

adb shell
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/mtd/mtdblock4 /system
cp /system/build.prop /sdcard

Don't close it

then transfer it from your sdcard to computer and edit the falses with notepad ++ and put it back on your sdcard

cp /sdcard/build.prop /system

There is another way to do it but its about the same number of steps, let me know if this way works

Aww crap, now I'm getting the Force Close issue with the battery info as well. I rebooted my phone earlier and I think that's when it started doing it. On my first boot after upgrading to 2.2, it was working just fine. Now the battery info and spare parts are not working right.

welcome to the club...Im reading up on how to revert to 2.1 right now :(

Ok i have to say, the original post is a bit of a mess. and the instructions more than a tad confusing. (sigh).

My method so far has been to try bootstrap and the Rom manager and to use them both to apply the update, so far all I'm getting is a Failed, Error Code 7 installation aborted like many who have tried the manual methods.
