Root They know how the efuse works? Getting closer to more customr roms?

Yep I am getting the fascinate. Putting the x on ebay on sunday then getting the fascinate for no money lost.

The thing is...there's really nothing wrong with my X, per se.

Yeah, I dislike the notion of being locked down, unable to flash overclock kernels, true custom ROMs, etc, but this thing is still fast as hell. I mean, how much better is a 1.2GHz Fascinate?

I am going to wait for some more compelling hardware. The Fascinate is a lateral move, IMO, and you're giving up some things in terms of build quality, signal strength, battery life, etc.

And I still have my D1 for my flashing needs :)
 
I agree Fabolous. I will not trade the DX for anything out now. Hopefully we will see more phones in the form factor in the future. I love the screen, speed, camera, camcorder, battery life. With RubiX and root I still have decent access for modding. No custom kernals doesn't kill it for me since I wasn't going to OC.

Signal quality, battery life, build quality, and mics keep me from switching to the Fascinate. Hopefully, coreplayer will be released soon to satiate my multimedia needs.
 
as long as we get 0 blur roms im good. cvps from source will be nice. I dont care about overclock kernels. still on flyx, so hopefully something worthy of flashing comes out.

I agree, but for me it's a step backwards. I don't like the way it portrays text (too dim even with the display settings on high).

I'm going to stick with the dx. Prolly get the SF for my daughter, Fab.

I would agree for the most part. Thats why I am keeping my X. The fascinate gives me something new to play around and flash things on. I dont have my D1 anymore to flash stuff.
 
I'm tempted to go to verizon tonight and trade mine in. $200 with my NE2 for this turd moto phone.

Oh wait, I don't like how text looks on the fascinate, and it feels cheap to me. It's a decent phone but nothing like the X for quality and hardware :( My Sister has the SF with no plans to do anything to it. I guess I'll have to see what HTC puts out in 2 years. Until then looks like I'm stuck just like I was with my BB storm. I don't have the funds to grab every new phone that comes out. I really liked the open platform of android, Moto should be ashamed, and I feel even worse for supporting them. I wish my storm wasn't broken or I'd just return the damn Droid-X and wait for something better.

Best way to vote is with our money. I said before that I hated all my previous moto phones. I don't know why I thought it would b e any different this time around. I should probably jsut blame verizon, for their bloat and lock down like they have been doing for years. It's jsut worse now that phones are small computers. I could deal with the locking down of a phone, but I can never cope with a locked down computer. I guess they want to be more like a Mac. Sorry Moto, that is a deal breaker for the android crowd.

I completely agree.. The X is great even without custom kernels. At least we still have root and semi-custom roms. ;)
 
I mean since there is something wrong with my audio jack I can get a brand new one then sell that and buy a new fascinate. But I do agree with the Fab's statement on build quality, but its almost like having this phone and thinking about how it could of been unlocked will make me mad every time I use it. I also have an upgrade waiting for me so it is really not that big of a deal for me.


I hope that HTC does not start doing to all their phones what they did to the G2. The options are starting to get limited,you have Moto, who locks it, HTC; who ,might start and then you have Samsung which I guess may turn into the devs best friend. I never got to try out an HTC phone and I was thinking that that would be my next phone I get with an upgrade but if they start locking theirs too I don't know what I am going to do.
 
With HTCs locking of the G2 its really too early to tell if it will be hackable or not. efuse on the other hand has been around on the milestone for almost a year now. I dont like the way things are going though.

Well, I'm sure all the companies are losing money when morons brick their phones then fraud the wireless carriers to replace them.

Still, Cyanogen brings up a good point...

I agree but think I'll just hold onto my X until new LTE phones come out in the spring/summer

Even without custom kernels and such, nothing out there makes me feel that jealous when I have the X. De-blurred and themed it works as good as I could want. Its my first android so I guess I just don't really understand what I'm missing being locked down?

but that works in my favor for this haha I guess I can be happily ignorant for a while I guess.

Hopefully I'll have some extra income I can spend in 6-8 months or so and move one to bigger and better things, until then just have to deal with my stupid beastly phone as is haha

That seems kind of harsh. This phone is far from a turd in my book, and I haven't even bothered to root it. Sure, the bootloader is locked, and I guess that sucks if you WANT to flash ROMS, but that doesn't make the phone a turd. Besides, I don't see anything better out there. The Galaxy S handsets seem nice, but I have a sour taste in my mouth from previous Samsung products, so I'm in no rush to go back to them.

If you are technical enough to want to root your phone, run custom ROMs, etc. then you didn't do enough research before buying, or you bought knowing it was locked down and were foolish.

The platform can still be open without being able to replace the freakin' system kernel.
