The battery does evolve, MacBooks Pro got 7+ hours of battery life whilst other laptops were still struggling to get 2-3 hours and my MBP has lasted 9hours and 56mins of usage on one battery charge.
Same goes for the iPhone 4's lithium polymer battery.
You do realize that HTC could have fitted in a bigger battery in there and an AMOLED screen if they didn't release it 8 months after the Desire launch. 4-5 months could have gotten them the AMOLED screen and redesign of the internals allowing a bigger battery.
A battery hog screen like on the DHD needed to be at least AMOLED.
*sighs*
Here we go again.
No the battery doesn't evolve..technology around the battery evolves.
lithium polymer battery doesn't really mean anything at the moment. If you really buy into it being a better battery than anything else then you have been sucked into marketing.
Let me educate you.
you could have a 900mAh battery in a phone, doesn't mean its going to last any longer than a bettery at 3500mAh as its down to numerous things such as power management (sofrware), hardware management, the demand and strain on the application, etc etc
Also relating to comparing a macbook pro.
Are you trying to compare a macbook pro to a phone here?..because thats a hole you are digging which you ain't gonna get out of.
And the reason why macbook pro batterys perform well is because of the battery battery/power management on a laptop with power saving on graphics. But once again, just because you supposedly get 9 hours, doesn't mean everyone else gets the same as the bottom line is
thats its down to the end user on how they use the device.
Now if you are going to compare an iPhone 4 to a Desire HD..Ok, i'll take tht on.
Lithium Polymer
Pros;
* Can be made in different shapes and sizes
* Its light and doesnt require metal casing around
* It's not flammable
Cons;
* More expensive than Lithium Ion
* Lower energy density
* Lower cycle count
* If you over charge, it can blow
* High cost to energy ratio
So putting into a reply for you..If HTC put in a Lithium Polymer battery in, there is no guaranteed performance increase, whilst also pushing the cost of the phone upwards resulting in higher contract and sim free prices...Not to mention long term users possibly having to buy an extra battery.
HTC
could have put a bigger battery in, but they didn't. What they have put in, suffices. Move on.
You do understand that HTC actually switched their Desire handsets to SLCD's from AMOLED due to shortages with Samsung. Also confirmed reports were about on the net that battery performance was slightly better as the colours was not as vibrant.
If HTC were to put AMOLED screens into the Desire HD, you would have understand then, both the Desire Z and HD would have been put back, there would still be supply issues with the standard Desire, HTC would have had to go back to the drawing board as well, invest more money into planning again, which would then push the price up.
Also the screen is 4.3", not 3.5",
4.3 INCHES.
What do you expect?
HTC won brand of the year through customer contact and relations along with the products. They have announced on Twitter that there will be an update within the next couple of days which is more a "maintenance build" based on "feedback".
HTC (htc) on Twitter
Might want to stop digging son..because that rope can't pull you up now
THERE ... your a mac fanboi, go play with your iphone and macbook and be gone.
/me sighs
I'm actually more curious to whether he actually owns the device at the moment, because it comes across as that he doesn't and doing a far bit of guesswork.
