Stevcha,

Nice list btw, I have a suggestion now. Since the list is growing, I would suggest doing a 4G list for sense roms and non 4G rom list. Maybe like a subsection. Do this also for AOSP roms.

I know sometimes for me, I won't flash a non 4G rom just for preference since I live in a 4G area. Other times I have that flashing bug and I'll flash anything:p

Just a thought:)

Thanks! Good idea. Ill try to regroup everything

Ha just trying to help keep you up to date...not that its a big deal but while you are changing things go ahead and update savaged zen to 0.2.0 now. You have the direct dl to the mirror so they will see it, just thought you might want it to read correctly also. Or take out the rev number so it never goes out of date...? Also just FYI 0.2.0 is out lol, flashed it last night.

Thanks Matt! The version info is actually being pulled from the link itself. Ill go through and repost the links so that it pulls the current versions.

Can I flash a custom Kernel (netarchy 4.3.1-cfs-havs-nosbc) with an Unrevoked stock rooted rom? Would I follow the same procedure as flashing a custom rom?

welcome to the land of the rooted!

yes it is almost the same process, except that you do not have to wipe data. all you have to wipe is cache, and dalvik cache. then flash away.

Yes. You can flash any Sense based kernel w/ your stock rooted ROM. You do not need a custom ROM to run a custom kernel. And yes, you would basically follow the same steps you would to flash a kernel as you would a ROM, minus, doing a full wipe. All you would need to wipe is cache and dalvik cache.

EDIT: Ocn beat me to it lol!

You guys are quick! I've already flashed the kernel and now I'm able to overclock and underclock to save battery and improve performance! Stoked! Can you suggest a custom rom that wont lose 4G or wireless tethering? Also, where can I get the stock rom if I decide to go back?

1 last question... for now.

I can't seem to find the MikFroyo v4.5 download anywhere. I found the thread but not the download. Do you have a direct link?

ref #2 has all the links as well as some of the direct downloads for most of the current roms that users here in this forum are using.

I'll have this done by the weekend

Now that I have rooted using Unrevoked and I've flashed a custom kernel should I now only get updated through xda-developers and never OTA? Should I still update PRL OTA?

Also, I just read on a separate post that I shouldn't be using SetCPU with a hav kernel because they will be counter productive. I just flashed netarchy 4.3.1-cfs-havs-nosbclast night and I AM using SetCPU. Is that post correct and is there an alternative that's just as easy to use?

Thanks for everything guys! I learned alot from you.

You should never accept an OTA because you'll lose root and have to wait for another root exploit to obtain root again. Once you're rooted, you'll never have a need to accept an OTA for an update; you can just flash a ROM w/ those updates included. Plus, XDA usually has the updates available prior to official OTA's being released.

You can use SetCPU w/ a HAVS kernel and over/underclock w/o issue. As far as profiles are concerned, if you're using the "smartass" governor, you shouldn't need to use any profiles because the smartass governor essentially does what profiles you set would do automatically (it's okay to set a screen off profile using the smartass governor if you want to but w/ the smartass governor, in conjunction with a HAVS kernel, will automatically scale down to a very low voltage when the screen's off). If you're using the default governor for 4.3.1 which is "conservative", profiles are fine.

it depends on the rom. some roms have built in some battery tweaks. or some are optimized \to improve performance and speed. mikforyo 4.5 is a very optimized rom so things run much faster and smooth. i also noticed that the rom actually has pretty good battery life with just the stock htc#15 kernel. i would suggest you try it out. it is an awesome rom and i can't wait for 4.6 to be released.

I've flashed Kings Unleashed Blakk R3 and lost all of my apps. Can you tell me how I would restore them?

Lost all of the apps you had downloaded or that came with the rom? If they were the downloads, you would have had to use something like Titanium Backup to save them and their data to restore. If it is the apps that came with the rom, you might try and reflash it. You might have gotten a bad flash.

It's the apps I had downloaded before flashing. I had the paid version of Titanium Backup. Do I have to download it again or is it in recovery? How to I get back to it?

You will have to download TB from the market. I do not have the paid version but did they email you a key for it? The market might recognize your account as whenever I flash a rom, the market knows I paid for Setcpu.

You can also use Appbrain to manage and sync your applications. It can be a hassle at times restoring your apps one at a time, but it's an alternative to TB if you're just looking to restore your apps.

Also, remember, if you choose to use TB to restore your apps between ROM's, only restore the apps, not apps + data. TB is designed to work with your current ROM image when it backs up all your information. If you decide to switch ROM's it may cause conflicts with the new ROM if you try to apply the settings from the previous ROM.

That must be why my wireless tethering doesnt work. I restored my apps plus data. Should I wipe and reflash to get it working again?
